@tink fan is absolutely correct...

We bought a 2-day ticket on the website using my Disney account. I then added details of my family members. When I downloaded the app, all four of us were listed in the Tickets section with "2 days remaining" under each of our names. After scanning the e-mail bar code at MK, the CM gave each of us cards and registered our fingerprints. The app then said "1 day remaining" under all of our names. After tapping in at HS, the app immediately said "0 days remaining". That is my "scientific" understanding that we were all checked into HS and ready to get a boarding group as a group.
Thank you for posting this! I can’t speak for the other posters that inquired, but I’ll say that I was very interested in hearing your method for confirming your park entry was recognized by MDE. This method is a very helpful (or maybe reassuring is a better word) way for anyone other than a Passholder to confirm there park entry is recognized. I would even go so far as to say that this should probably become a standard practice for guests in the time between entering the park and the time BGs open. If a ticket entitlement was not deducted from your account, it would probably be a good idea to put yourself near a GET CM in anticipation of any possible app glitches.

Here was our boarding group experience:
We left Riverside by Lyft at 5:58 am. We were our drivers second trip to DHS. Arrived at drop off at 6:15. Short wait in no bag security line. Stayed to the right. Through tapstiles at 6:26. Waited with thousands of our new non-deodorant wearing bffs on Sunset Blvd for 7am. Now, this is important, I asked my DS (who also happens to be a Disney Corporate Intern and lives in Burbank) to log into my account this morning and help us get a BG (4 am his time). At 6:59, DH (on AT&T), friend’s DD (on Verizon) and me (on Sprint) all started refreshing hoping the Join Boarding Group button would turn red. It never did for any of us. Cheers began going up and expressions of frustration around us. At 7:01, got a message from DS, who said he got in and we had BG 18. Someone right next to us got group 38 and someone else 129. We walked on to RnR, when we got off RnR, lines were beginning to grow massively throughout the park. It is packed here today. We got called for our BG at 7:52 and were off about 8:30. Amazing attraction , but I am not putting my group or myself through all of that again. Not this trip. Thank goodness for DS in California or I don’t think we would have gotten a BG. I will return the favor for he and my older son for Disneyland ROTR the end of this month. Thanks for the tips!

Excellent outcome! BG 18 I mean. The BFFS on Sunset .... not so much.

And it speaks to the importance of having a BG helper back home if possible.

Link everyone in your group to one MDE account, log into the app with that account, and it should list everyone in the Ticket section with "1 day remaining" under each name. After you tap through at HS, it should change to 0 for everyone. If not, find a GET CM.
Thank you! I have all 10 of us in my account (I’m the only one who made an account). When I look under tickets it shows one name at a time like this:

Curious for folk who have gone these past days AND prior weeks -- are the crowds significantly larger than initial weeks and Xmas week to explain the dramatic drop from 15-20minutes to 2minutes?

We had no issues logging in and getting a boarding group at 7am. However, we have a lunch reservation right now called 30 min before our ADR. They told us to go and eat, and we would figure it out with guest services if lunch ran long. :rolleyes1

Hard to answer with certainty, in my opinion. If we look at sources such as Touring Plans that do track wait time data on some presumably consistent level, there is no doubt it shows the elevated crowd levels (their actuals, not predicated) around the Christmas and NY week time frame over earlier in the month. Like with many Disney things, it's not usually one factor involved. Crowds are certainly one... knowledge is another....new strategies are another (cousin Billy in California logging in).... bots in Thailand may be another. :-)

Some inside information for those that like crunching the numbers. My DD had a morning shift today (she's usually evenings) from 4am to 11am. During their track talk, like a gathering before the day starts, they were told that there was 7k people in the park, this was round 6:30am. Operations also made the decission to have people waiting all the way to baseline taphouse today because there was more people than expected.
On a fun note they gave the opening CMs of the Falcon the opportunity to ride RotR today before the park opened, marking the one month anniversary. She also got to walk people from the entrance of the land back to the Falcon, which she has never done before. She was asked today by a guest if backup bg 169 would ride, so at least we have that number as a backup bg, again for those trying to make sense out of all of this with the numbers

I don't understand. Your son wasn't even in the park??? We will be there Tuesday. Just trying to figure out what to do.

I’ve been watching this thread since it opened, but recently gave it a rest cause it was stressing me out & the holidays too. Our vacation is at the end of the month, so I’m back to reading to see what the best plan of action is. I’m assuming it’s still best to get there 1hr before opening, no bag security Ck, go to the right for turnstiles, get in park & start refreshing app 1 min before opening, continuing until we get a BG. So is that still good?
And, I hope y’all are joking about bots, cause that’s a scary thought. 😬🤪

This will be challenging for me on the 19th. I have no remote 'helper' and would not want to ask anyone to do Disney stuff for me early on a Sunday morning anyway. Given that there will no time for a CM to help me in the park, I am still pondering the tactic of walking out to the Boardwalk immediately after entering DHS in an effort to find a better app connection. I don't like the odds of being among the successful BG joiners within the 50 or so seconds that it will be possible to join a BG. Other Disney sites that I've checked are very pessimistic about any real improvement in "join time" following departure of the holiday crowds. :charac2:

I get the feeling that Sundays are a particularly heavy day at HS. I wonder going forward into Jan and Feb if it may be best to try on Tues or Wed for the least BG competition?
