That’s what I’ve seen too. I loaded a mcgc at DG on 1/7. I almost went to try another one yesterday, just to see, but I chickened out. I hate having to cancel out a transaction at the register. I did load a mcgc at a FD on 1/9. But FD is more out of my way to get to.
I've been looking for a DP on loading mcgc at DG. I don't expect it to work but all DPs I've seen so far have been ppl loading with vgc. If you do try to load at DG with a MCGC please report back.

Oh perfect! I didn’t realize we had some hometown experts. Convince me why I should/shouldn’t plan a last minute spring break trip there with the kiddos. DH let on that he wanted to take me there for my birthday since I’m on a big Fred Rogers nostalgia kick right now and that turned into a let’s see if we can make it a family trip. Looked at the Heinz center, children’s museum, PNC stadium, and the science center. Also how’s the transportation and walkability? We have some limited experience with NYC subway system with kids from visiting my sister when DS was a baby but that’s it.

Looks like I need to make my way to NYC this summer:
The first official Harry Potter flagship store will open summer 2020 in NYC. The three story 20,000+ square foot store will house the largest collection of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts products in the world under one roof. Road trip!

After my MCGC drained a few months ago without loaded to my Serve, I nixed the MCGCs there. It took a couple of months of filing a complaint to get the funds back.

I can’t wait to start the books with the kids so we can do all the HP things! DS7 is about there but the twins are still a bit young to get it.

New SW 75k offer question, So is it $1k+$4k ($5k total) or $1k+$5k ($6k total) for the 75k? My mom randomly decided she wanted some points for two flights coming up but has no need for the CP, she has $4k for a cruise to put on it right away so just trying to figure out if she needs to find an additional $1k or $2k to finish it off.
I read the offer T&C's and it reads as 5k total but a client of mine called in for a match (she just applied using an inflight offer link I grabbed for her in Dec) and was told it is 6k total. I told her to HUCA and read them the offer terms if she got the 6k nonsense again.

Yea I went through that as well so I understand nixing mcgc there. But if they continue to load at DG I'll risk them. If you don't completely drain the mcgc it won't have the issue with serve at DG. Loading 199.99 out of 200 back then worked fine.

My points haven't posted either, but I got the free night email this week. I'm a little concerned as I met the spend with a property tax payment, and I recall someone having issues with Amex counting property taxes as part of the spend. I really don't want to have to fight for them, but I'm waiting for these points to make a booking!
I ventured over to r/churning on reddit and found several other people playing the same waiting game. I don't need them to book a trip right now though, so I hope yours do post soon!

If you guys can see them on your statement, I think it's just taking time to transfer for some reason. Those of us who have to had to fight for our points, never even saw them on the statement at all.
That makes me feel better about seeing them as pending! A lot of people that say they met spend within the first statement are still waiting, so I have a feeling it'll at least be a few more weeks on mine since I was just short of MSR when my first statement closed.

Soooo last night we took my parents out for my dad's belated birthday dinner. I was sitting down at the end of the table with my mom, and I mentioned that my husband I are going back to Japan... on miles... in FIRST and BUSINESS class. Her eyes got huge and of course her question was "How???" I said, "Do you really want to know? It's quite a process." She said she did so I tried to explain it to her as best I could. Her eyes were HUGE. She freely admits that she herself would not be able to keep track of everything but that my dad could. (It's true that he is better organized than she is ... but whether he has the patience and the temperament to LISTEN and LEARN is something else again!!)

Anyway, she now has a goal of flying to London at some point in the future on miles/points. :) I don't know that she would necessarily want to spend the extra points to go first class, but one never knows! That's a long flight!

Apparently they do have the Chase United card and she says that due to that they'll use United. They have NO IDEA how many miles they have on it... but that's the card they opened with the express purpose of putting our 12 round trip tickets to Japan on it... so I am hoping it's quite a bit already!

I told her that their first step is to get their Credit Karma accounts set up so they can see where they stand on x/24 . I see that Chase URs transfer to United Mileage Club so I presume that if the CIP is an option, that would be their first best step. Meeting MSRs will NOT be an issue for them. However, they're both retired so I could possibly see that being a hurdle.

Does anyone have any different or additional suggestions that I am forgetting, for this first step?

My dh still hasn't received his conditional approval after 3?4? months :( He thinks it might have something to do with the fact his fingerprints etc are on file due to multiple things (securities industry etc). Mine took like 36 hours, go figure.
I think their website wasn’t updated from last year when that happened.
Just used P2’s cap1v to apply for global entry for him. Hopefully it credits easily and hopefully those GE approvals and appts come quickly! Our trip is end of May, and it’s crazy that I feel like that could be cutting it close! It should be PLENTY of time. :sad2:
My teenager's app has been pending conditional approval for MONTHS! Apparently the shutdown last year (and probably the upswing in applicants due to cc benefits) has really messed with the process. Maybe if you run through the process and it doesn't need any manual intervention, the conditional approval process is quick, but if you are flagged in any way, and it needs a human to review the application, you are stuck in the insanely long delay? I don't know. Its annoying - three of us have GE already, our trip is in April, and I'm not sure we're going to have the last GE card by then.

Those things are all in a fairly compact area near downtown, there is also the Aviary which is nice. The area is definitely walkable, there is a short subway system with maybe 4 stops around downtown? There are buses also, if you want to go to Oakland to see the Carnegie natural history museum or art. I live in the suburbs and don't know a lot about downtown hotels, maybe look at the Sheraton station square? There are also some newish chain hotels near Pnc park and Heinz field.

One more question. I know it's not the greatest card, but can you churn the Cap One Venture? Got a bonus in spring 2017, closed it out awhile back. I will have the MSR met on this CIP (assuming approval) literally as soon as I open the envelope, with some additional spend I have to make, so looking for something else that could be useful for Hawaii.
Sorry to double post, but I didn't see an answer to this question either, does anyone know? Forgive me if I missed the answer.

Can I have a little Universal ticket handholding please?

I'm going to buy our tickets from UCT (e-tickets). The website says
"E-Tickets – Go straight to the gate and onto the rides. You may scan your E-ticket barcode from your phone for admission; no need to print anything out. You must present a valid photo ID or credit card matching the lead guest name for identity verification at the gate."

So I scan the barcode from the email? Or do tickets get added to the Universal app? And I would scan both dh's and my tickets?

:thanks:

I really hope you get those points. I'm pretty sure we used property tax to meet some MSRs over the past year and a half, so I hope it works for you, too. In sad (but totally first world problem and not actually a real issue) news, we are outside the DoorDash dumpling delivery range (checked both our house and DM's). I had a feeling we were too far North.
:(

Sharing HP with kids is wonderful. My advice would be to not wait too long, though. DD was very small when we read the first couple of books together as a family. By the time she was 7 she wanted to find out what was going on and politely asked her if she could read the books themselves, and that was it for us reading together. Neither of us wanted to slow her down (and we had the "benefit" of the books coming out while she was growing up so that slowed her down a lot) but I remember DH was really sad about it. I was just thankful she loved reading. My friend with one last "child" left in the family (the others are all 18 and up) said it's really different now that they can just read them all without waiting for the next release. She did decide to hold back on 4-7 since the content was more serious and scary than she thought her little one could handle at the time.

ETA - I just don't want you miss out on sharing as many as you can with each child. :)
