Trying to decide if I wanna drive over or not on Wednesday. Afraid it'll be same situation as a couple of weeks ago when I went, where I had to leave for work before my BG was called. But, because of my work schedule, right now the only times I can make it over is when I work later in the day.

Tomorrow is our first try in HS. We will have 2-3 phones trying. Is it better to be logged into the same MDE account or 3 different with our profiles linked in all 3?

asked this question before, and was told it shouldn't matter

I’m really surprised they are going back to the one hour return times right as dinner starts. Maybe it’s good idea to grab lunch ADRs for my DHS days. We usually eat sit down at dinner but if this holds, lunch may be the better choice.
We aren’t on the DP, but we made dinner reservations through Open Table for the day(s) we were planning for DHS. Flying Fish, in particular, is one that can be reserved this way. Same with some of the Swolphin restaurants. (Disney Springs as well, but I doubt anyone would chance going that far). These can be cancelled w/o a penalty at the last minute on the Open Table app.
Eta - actually, it probably doesn’t matter how you book if the restaurant accepts the dp, but you may want to double-check if that matters.

Has anyone caught first bus to AKL: JH to HS? If so, what time did bus come, how many people waiting at stop and how crowded was it on the bus before getting on? We will be trying this 1 week from today. Thanks for all the great pointers!

We are staying at OKW next week! Did you bus over to HS? We are still trying to figure out the best way to get over to HS early enough.
We rented a car to just avoid the buses (it was a 2 day trip). We did see busses running that early for DHS at OKW though. I think we would've been fine on a bus, but really just wanted freedom on such a short trip.

I wasn’t at AKL, but a few weeks ago at SSR we went to the bus stop at 5:30 for a 7 AM opening and a bus came within a couple of minutes. We were the only people at the stop and on the bus, and I have reason to think another bus may have come through not long before we got there.

My recommendation would be to go to the bus stop at least 90 minutes before park opening. If a bus comes right away you won’t be too early, but you have a cushion if it takes awhile for one to come.

Are there reports of people being there and ready at 7am and not getting a BG?

any BG? No, I think everyone has at least gotten a back-up BG. But a primary one, yest there have been some reports with people encoutnering some IT issues or just refreshing not working/taking too long and wind up only getting a back-up BG.... (but on the vast majority of days their back-up BGs got called so I would say 99.567% (give or take 10.268%) of people that are there, in the park prior to 7am (or whatever opening time is) and prepared have gotten to ride, just might not be as early a BG as they would have preferred

I'd be curious how many BG's are going to repeat riders vs first time riders. This probably isn't a poplular opinion on a place like disboards since we are pretty hard core and like to game the system as much as possible (within the rules) and ride as many rides as we can, but I'm really starting to think they should limit this ride to once/per week. They have already proven they can limit once/day. If you get a BG, maybe you can't get another one for 5 days. If for some reason you are unable to get on the ride (or maybe if the ride is not fully functioning, they can remove the 5 day block for you so you can still try again the next day. I know annual passes are not cheap (I've had one a couple times) but it feels just a little off that if the BG's are full and you live close by you just try again, while for the vast majority of people, if this doesn't work out or they are 10 minutes late to the park, they don't get another try until a year or two later (if at all). This wouldn't need to be a permanent thing but at least until things calm down. Only having 60 seconds to book a ride seems more than a little crazy.

Sorry, but that's a terrible idea. My entrance just because I live close by shouldn't be anything less than someone else's. Guests on resorts already get a lot of advantages over local AP's. That's a good way to lose a huge chunk of your people. I paid money to be there just like everyone else.

Why would your entrance be less than anyone else's? Guest resorts would also only be able to ride once a week. Its not really any different than once/day rule its just extending the time so more people get to experience the ride. If you think that rule would lead to a massive fall off of annual pass purchases than that is probably a good reason for Disney not to do it, but I don't think there would be.

Yesterday we arrived at some ridiculous hour. Wife and I went into our cattle stalls towards Slinky Dog. Had a daughter with a brief butterfly stomach incident causing me to run through people to the bathroom. Had our phones at the ready for Boarding Groups. I managed to get 87. She never connected.

We watched BG's move to 31 and stall for at least an hour. Started warning the kids. Got excited again watching Indy while BGs moved again. Saw them stall again at 80 for at least an hour. Warned the kids and pretty much figured it was not going to happen. We gave up and went to MFSR line for a second time.

Our BG was finally called sometime after 5 while in-line for Millennium Falcon. Had to rush through 50 people for an exit while getting dirty looks and the "no you have 2! hour arguments from CM's". (We didn't).

It was at least an hour in line. We managed to move our DR back to 8:20.

The ride itself was amazing and I'm glad we did it.

We got off the ride around 7ish. It was dusk and if you know the ride that really felt neat. Meaning we got in line in full sun and "landed" at dusk.

It was easily the most stressful day I've ever had at WDW. If Disney's mission was to make us avoid BGs again, then they succeeded. We'll wait for our next trip on this one. But kinda sorta maybe worth it for one ride.
