Are there reports of people being there and ready at 7am and not getting a BG?
Yes, for regular boarding groups. We were there yesterday, in the park at 6:25 am or thereabouts, whenever they opened the turnstiles. Waited near the GE rope drop area with thousands. Used all the tips from this board right at 7:00am, also had my brother logged into my account in another state. Got backup boarding group 110 before the time changed to 7:02 in my phone. We were lucky, last night 113 was the final group so we squeaked in, even with all the downtime, but it was a stressful day wondering if we’d get to ride!

I just read the article that the Dis wrote about this change today, and it has so much wrong info in it... It's close, but just not quite right. Then the comments aren't all correct either. Makes me want to pull my hair out as I read it.

What article? Dis?

The site that goes with these message boards. I think it’s WDWinfo, but there was just a link to the upper right of the boards that I followed. Jackie wrote the article. If you listen to their podcast you “know” the people who write the articles.

I should add upper right on a computer, on my phone it isn’t there.

I would walk. Beach club doesn’t have busses to DHS typically unless there’s an issue with the boats. I don’t think the boats open until later.
A boat left Yacht Club dock Promptly at 6am on Sunday. We missed it by a minute after staring at it from our room for about 5 min. Haha! We had planned to walk the whole time. But boats do run that early. I’m not sure when the next one came though. We didn’t see another boat beat us to DHS that morning so it was at least 25 minutes.

How long are the entry lines taking to get through in recent days? No bags.

Going this Sunday (2/2). Staying at the Dolphin. Dolphin says boats run 1 hr before opening, so should be 6am departure. We are also capable of walking (20min approx).

If we leave (boat or walking) by 6, assuming that has us in line around 6:20/6:30, is that enough time to be in the park so we can be settled for the 7am click-wars?

While I'm hard core and open to leave earlier, I'm taking complete Disney noobs and trying not to scare them off with so much line waiting right off the bat.

Within 5 minutes. I definitely recommend to not bringing any bags.

Ride is down.
It's interesting (and was a bit disconcerting) that the app shows nothing under Now Boarding or wait time. So either it's DOWN down, or they've changed their procedures.

ETA: Never mind. It's my phone. Weird. I'm at work, and it cannot connect to either WiFi or Cell. My tablet works fine. :( Man, I think I need to have both with me next week!

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but I see Groups 94-122.

when it's down for a short time the app doesn't change as far as I know. It changes when it's a complete shutdown, the one that lasts about 2 hours to get the ride back up

Turns out it was my phone. Suddenly, out of nowhere lost connections to WiFi and cell! Thank goodness a re-boot fixed that, but that's pretty scary now, since I'm going solo next week and my phone has never done this before!!!

My father is at Hollywood today with boarding group 124. Hopefully they get the ride back up in time for his group to be called because today is his last full day at WDW.

I arrived by bus from ASMo at about 6:25 yesterday (1/26), made it though the slowest bag security line ever (the guy was looking in every tiny pocket on every bag) by 6:37, through the tapstiles by 6:40, and standing in the crowd outside the Frozen sing-along place by 6:44. I got BG 77 because I had to do a hard refresh on MDE after it wouldn’t switch over after 7am. I would maybe take a minute before picking a security line to see which ones are moving and which ones are crawling if you decide to take a bag.
