My Star Wars story begins tomorrow. Hoping everything goes to plan with obtaining a BG. I am staying at ASsports And relying on bus transportation. I’ll get up at anytime. I’ll do whatever it takes. Can anyone in HS today comment on the crowds?

Thanks again for all the great information and especially “The Chart”. I’m so excited for my trip.

It was a little more crowded than I’d hoped today, but part of that may be that it’s a weekend (local crowds). There did seem to be lots of kids from the national dance team championships, but not so much at opening - they were around later in the day. You’ll do great, good luck.

The problems is not the crowds....it's where they can do and what they can do from opening until about 10-11am.
All the rides get huge lines right at opening now.
A resource I use indicates the crowd should only be about 40 percent of what was seen at Christmas/New Years.
To be safe, I would suggest being at the bus stop at 530am for a 7 am DHS open. Showing up too close to 6am puts you at risk of arriving after 7am. Tapping in at 703am would stink!

I can also add that three days I tried for a BG, I was at the bus by 545 each day. I was in the park by 640 all three days. Bus malfunctions happen, but that was my experience at ASSports. One time there were two buses in a row because there were three scooters. I didn't get on the first one and was happy the second came so soon.
Although it really seems like at Riviera it’s an issue that if the Skyliner’s not running, they’re not doing anything increases with the buses. They don’t have a feel for it at all at the front desk and those there this morning didn’t seem to have any idea how it was working. I honestly think we’d have much better luck at a non-Skyliner resort. Two buses came for Magic Kingdom, and two came that we’re going to other Skyliner resorts (really no idea why that was running). If I knew how long that would take and was reliable, would take that to Boardwalk and walk over.

Wanted to let you guys know our experience on January 27. It was my husband, 3 children (7, 4, and 2), and I. We used a gorilla grip bag and put the 2 and 4 year olds car seat in it and used a Lyft XL. We left Wilderness Lodge at 5:30 in the morning and got to Hollywood Studios close to 6. We were through security and tickets around 6:30. We learned while there that Hollywood Studios will hold your car seats for you at the place where you rent strollers! So luckily we did not have to car seats around all day! My husband and I both were logged into my Disney experience and he was able to get boarding group 60.

Seems to be sitting at 108 now....heading back to DHS to close out my trip! At least then I’ll be able to actually check what’s up with the ride.

We also will be at Riviera? We plan to have our car. Has anyone driven over to Studios? When does parking open? Is that a nightmare?

I have tried to see if this has been answered but couldn’t find it!

Going to HS in August (with family of 4).

If the BG system is still being used does my family have to be in the park to join a BG or can I go and add them to my group (Them coming later, when our group is called)?

That sounds like a great option if it's available.

Interesting pattern on The Chart for # of Backup BG's called being Zero.

It has happened five times:

1) Friday, January 3
2) the next Wednesday, January 8

3) Friday, two weeks later, January 17
4) the next Wenesday, January 22

5) Friday, two weeks later, January 31

Hmmm.... Does this mean that next Wednesday would be a good day to avoid?

Probably not. Probably all mere coincidence, but just thought it was interesting when I noticed that Fridays tend to be rough days for RotR.
Crap. My RotR day is Friday, Feb 14th!

Page 1 post # 2. :smooth: . But the short answer is yes. Everybody that want to join a BG and ride Rise MUST be in the park,

So we got screwed by Disney Transportation. Skyliner wasn’t running till 8, of course, so for us the only real choice was the bus (staying at Riviera). We got to the bus stop about 6:10-6:15. There were others already waiting. Bus came at 6:53. Didn’t get to the park until after through tapstiles about 7:20, got backup group 117.
Really frustrating. Went back to the desk at one point, they were no help.

Just saw that 117 has been called! I am really hoping that your kids have hung in there today and that you get to ride!

Thank You for for the kind words of encouragement! My nephew did mention to me that there are a lot of sports groups from his school visiting this week. This is my first SOLO trip so I hope to maneuver through all the big crowds if I can because I heard around ROTR it can get pretty crazy.

If there are big crowds at opening and long lines should I try and get as close to Galaxys Edge once I enter the park to just be in the area incase I do *hopefully* get an early BG? and thank you for the advice. I will be at the bus stop by 5:30am. Should even earlier be better?

117 seems to be the final group - they called it maybe 15 mins ago, so at least you get to ride!

Oh well. My BG didn’t get called. Ride seemed to be running all day but then went down mid afternoon. Seemed to recover, thought I might have a chance but it seems to be down again and I got the dreaded message.

Early enough. They redid the parking entrance last year so it’s not backing up terribly. DHS is the best parking situation of the 4 parks because every space is reasonably walkable.
