Any tips to help select your group quickly? I have about 15 or so family & friends but only 4 of us will be there. While practicing it seems to take too long to scroll, find and select the other 3. Any ideas other than deleting everyone else - don’t want to do that because we do all go together sometimes.
When making fastpasses it usually shows the people you “have plans with” at the top. It doesn’t seem to do that with the boarding groups.

Ask everyone who isn’t going to rename themselves zz-last name during your trip so that they are below your current travelers in the list.

I had 27 in My Family and Friends, and I called Disney IT to have 19 of them removed. (We will have 8 on our upcoming trip.)

(I was unable to delete any of those 19 myself even though I had deactivated all of their bands.)

I figure I can always add the relevant people back in once the upcoming trip is over.

It seems like it almost always starts, and then breaks down very quickly - sometimes within the hour, other times within a couple of hours. Maybe this isn't the case, and it's just memory bias since I remember the days that it breaks down and not the days it doesn't, but sure seems that way to me.

I know you don't have a choice since you have a return time, but I think if I did it again and had a very early number I would go immediately instead of finishing the SB SDD line like we did, since we then went over and waited in line maybe 20 min and it broke down, causing us to eventually have to get return FPs. I think if we'd just gone straight over with BG 4 we might have been able to finish before it went down. Then, when it came up again, we debated if we should just jump in line or give it a while to see if it went down again. We did end up lining up, I was afraid to gamble and wait just in case it went down at some point and never came back up, and were able to ride. This was last Wed, I didn't really follow it that day after we rode but based on the numbers it got to I assume it did go down again at least once.

We got lucky, since my family's last name starts with B and most of our friends and family have different last names, ours were at the top anyway. I only needed to add 3 of the 5 in my family, but again got lucky in that the 3 were together alphabetically and happened to fit just at the bottom of the iphone screen. Just to make it a little easier, I gave all of us Mickey avatars, and the others don't have avatars. So I was able to choose the 3 mickeys that were at the bottom of the phone screen and move on quickly.

To add to that, at 7:45 I was able to toggle between “find out more” and go onto the page “My Status” and “Join a boarding group”. I wanted to see the greyed out buttons as people talked about yesterday. So I was super confused when at 7:58 when I went back into the “My Status” page it asked me to log in.

If you want to try to make sure that you are logged into your account before the boarding groups open, then you can try to make a fp+ and see if it makes you log in.

I've been thinking about the published advice against multiple people from the same party trying to join BG at the same time. FWIW, we won't be relying on just one person from our party. Too much risk that something goes wrong and we lose our shot. Instead-

All 3 of us will try to join a BG as back-up to each other. But... when we are tapping the 'Join BG' button we will also say 'Join BG' aloud. Do not tap the button while someone else is saying 'Join BG'. Wait 1 second before also trying. Maybe the system can't handle when 2 people in the same party end up hitting the join button simultaneously.

*****Before you remove people from your MDE, be sure to download any photopass photos!*****

Be sure you have downloaded any photopass photos from previous trips! I have an AP, so I have all our photopass/memory maker photos since last May. I always download after each trip, but I can confirm that once I removed my son (who is NOT traveling with us in April), all of his photos with his wife (they were engaged during our last trip) are now gone. So I'm very glad I did have them downloaded, but just also wanted to make sure to let everyone else know. It's something you might not think of.

This is just my take/opinion, but I personally wouldn’t try some kind of announce / pause system with your group. You all want to be trying join a BG as fast a humanly possible and the chaos/anxiety of the moment is hard to control/contain. No pauses, no checking with others. Everyone does their thing and let the fastest fingers/device/data speed/server win.

Left All Star Movies by bus at 6:45, at HS for 07:00.
No bags, held behind booths for a bit. Allowed into park around 07:20.
Queued at TSL for rope drop and BG’s at 08:00
Shut off my Bluetooth, left wifi and cell service on - app was garbage with Bluetooth on for some reason.
Hit “My Status” right at 8 and boom...BG 5
Went to TSMM, got the 2nd car and the High Score of the Day!!!
BG called, ride down on arrival. Grabbed breakfast then able to ride with no issues.

Try having a picture beside the persons you are going with and no picture for the persons who will not be there

We didn’t experience any issues with people tapping buttons at the same time.

Sister snagged BG21!! We did a quick tutorial for Husband, sis, BIL after getting into park around 7:20. Button never went red for me or BIL. Husband and sis were neck and neck, but sis scored it! Everyone around us was in the 20s except one guy who had an error and restarted the app and got 57. Not too bad!
