AP Holders: Should Disney "Stop the Clock" on passes until there is a Vaccine for COVID-19 ?

I know disney is extending annual passes one day for each day the parks are closed, I'm wondering about partial openings. do those count as parks closed days or parks open? many people who travel to get to disney might not want to go when the parks aren't fully opened, as long as they don't use the annual passes during that time period (double dipping, so to speak) I think they should include those as parks closed days. anyone know what the plan is? thanks
I don't think they can possibly start the clock again before they are fully open. Too many people would be outraged.

Only those people purchased an annual pass that does not guarantee access to the theme -arks, plain and simple. Simply because people don’t like it will not ,are the fact go away that they purchased the AP with it written in the terms that they were not guaranteed access to the theme parks.

At what point will we hold consumers accountable for their purchases???

No Disney ticket guarantees access to the theme parks, does it?

While I know how they proceed with opening SDL isn't the roadmap to how they'll open WDW or DLR, it is interesting that their AP extensions will apparently go from the day they closed until the end of the opening with reservations only. It could be that if WDW partially opens, or restricts opening in some way, AP's will be extended through that period too. "The validity period of a Shanghai Disneyland Annual Pass will be extended for the number of lost days falling between the park’s closure date of January 25, 2020 and the end of the “Advanced Reservation Period.”" https://blogmickey.com/2020/05/shan...advanced-ticketing-mask-requirement-and-more/

I am curious when it will be even "worth" activating an AP. I have an AP that I bought (like a month before this mess) .. and was planning on activating it in June. If I do go in June, not sure if activating the AP is worth it at this point ... how many times will I now go with the virus uncertainty. How will the parks be for the next few months, year? How will travel be? What if the parks close again?

If you're worried about these things, don't activate it. I would just buy tickets for your June trip and activate the AP once things are back to normal.

Oh for sure .. that is what i am thinking. Just sharing those thoughts in this thread.

But at this point, my June trip is waiting for more details of IF Disney will be open, and if so, what it will look like. As much as I want to go, a "full-priced" vacation with partial experiences, just may not be worth it at this time (and that's without considering the health/safety risks).

I had let my AP expire, bought a voucher through Sam's right before the price hike and would have activated it on our March 16 trip- we all know what happened with that. So I sit with a voucher that of course isn't getting credit for lost days. I will activate it if we get our late June trip in. If they do open with limited experiences and don't start the clock on the AP's until fully open, I'll start getting lost day credits then, but that's a real long shot - but regardless, this trip alone makes the AP worth it whether I use it again or not. For anyone, a lot depends on if they limit who will be allowed in.

If I had an AP voucher at this point I think I would probably save it. Still so much unknown with the future of the virus and I wouldn’t want to feel pressured because of an active AP to take a trip. I think by fall/winter it should be clear whether another shutdown type situation is inevitable.

I have the same concerns about the trip we have planned for September. We're throwing the idea around of going to Aulani instead for September and then going back to WDW in December. It's hard to plan for because everything is up in the air.

I hope we'll have some more clarity about the medium term impacts of the virus by the fall. Basically, I'm hoping to know what measures (masks, 6 ft distancing, no large crowds...etc) will need to be in place long term until we have a vaccine or effective treatments.

Absolutely! If we had vouchers I would not even think about activating them until next year.

Thanks for the advice, that is what i am leaning towards. I am surprised Disney hasn't announced any details of how they will open (or when) .. I am sure there is a lot of people like me who have June trips and just holding on to them until they release those details. I would bet a LOT of those booked reservations will be cancelled once those details are announced. (which isn't a bad thing, as that will help keep capacity down).

Now this is interesting. Let’s say WDW does the same thing, passes don’t extend until the end of reservation-only admission. Can I enter the park with my AP? Mine expires May 10th so any future trip I’ll be counting on the extended days being added to my pass, but if they’re counting the initial opening as days to add.....will I have an “active” pass?

Isn't it true that Shanghai hasn't had a new case of covid-19 since March? Meanwhile our numbers are still steadily climbing. We're not in the same positions, whatsoever.

I believe that’s true, but that really has no bearing on how they’re going to handle AP’s as far as when the clock starts.

At this point, they should just have a function in MDE where you can go and select your AP "restart" day. That way everyone gets the remaining time on their pass, and it will start when they feel comfortable going back. So, if your pass started on January 1st, and the parks closed March 16th, you would have about 9.5 months left on the pass, and guests should get to choose when that time periods starts. I know this won't happen- but it would be the fairest thing to do.

That would get abused like crazy.
