What is still hard to find?

Genuine 2-for 1, or seller doubling the price then selling at a discount? :)

They shipped two identical packages of a pound each, but I only ordered one pound! One package arrived, in great shape, and I was all "Yay, I can make bread again!" and then 2 days later another package, this one a bit more mangled, clear packing tape over part of it where it had ripped, was delivered. Another pound of yeast inside! All I can think is that it was delivered to the wrong address, the seller was notified, and they sent me another, and the first package was returned to UPS and redelivered? I only got charged once, and I've shared the second pound of yeast with people looking for yeast in my town. Seems the right thing to do, since I got twice as much as I ordered. Spread the wealth!

DH went to our Trader Joe's and said that things looked pretty much back to normal there for the first time since this whole thing started. Plenty of meat, produce, dairy. No limits on anything. Only things that were out (that he noticed): still no paper products at all (and those shelves were stocked with more soap and detergent instead), no coconut sugar, and no vanilla extract. Employees said that things started returning to normal a week or so ago. Hope things stay this way and that the paper products return!

I was at Walmart this morning and the meat cases were almost empty. Not sure if it’s due to actual shortages or hoarding due to shortage rumors, but the pickings were extremely slim.

Besides that, things seem like they are getting back to normal, thankfully.

I'm seeing beef prices go up here. We're switching to doing vegetarian once a week. We'll be cooking Indian food that day.

I definitely think we could do with eating less meat, so maybe this will propel us to moving toward a more plant based diet.

I have no desire to become a vegetarian or eat beyond burgers. But I'm not seeing produce increase in price at the same rate as beef, so this is a good opportunity to expand my cooking. I also like Indian food.

Sorry, I was talking about my family! I’ve really been thinking of trying to clean up our diets and eating less meat won’t hurt.

I don’t have any interest most of the fake meat. It seems too frankenfood-y to me.

DD (my picky eater) can't find Basmati or Jasmine brown rice. I have looked 2 places for her so far and so luck.
She isn't desperate yet, when she is she will take plain brown rice

A local restaurant always has a bbq brisket plate special on weekends. Today they announced they wouldn’t be having brisket for a whole due to availability and pricing.

Edited to add: a 10lb tube of hamburger was $19.99 when we first stocked up March 15. Friday that same tube/mix was $29.99

I ordered yeast on Amazon. I am not out yet, but the shipping isn't until June 6.
More expensive than I usually pay, but not terrible
I did have to get instant, which I don't usually use, but it is doable
Fleischmann's 2 pounds for $19

I'm with you! I've been dying to make some homemade donuts but no yeast anywhere!!
I just ordered yeast on Amazon today! I have wanted to make a sourdough starter for 2 months and finally broke down and paid shipping.

I went to Market Street today and the one thing that wasn't there was dried beans. Weird. I wanted to make red beans and rice and ended up settling for canned that I will add to and simmer for flavor.

Still no toilet paper to be found in my area. It’s getting frustrating to say the least.
Not sure where you are, but we have found getting to the store right at opening is the best time to find supplies. By mid day, things like toilet paper can run short.

I know. The TP thing is getting annoying ! What worries me.....it's been two months so all those hoarders are probably using up all their TP and will be running out for their second mass hoarding of TP!!

If you are looking for yeast, try restaurant depot. I got mine there a couple weeks ago. $4 for a pound of instant yeast.

Now I can’t find flour. I prefer King Arthur brand, but haven’t spotted in the last week or two. I’m on my last bag of bread flour.

i have a suspicion that even if individual industries are able to gear back up and supply lines improve to some type of normalcy we are going to see shortages again come end of summer/early fall. i say this b/c i live in a region where people tend to stock up on staples, paper goods and such come late september/early october b/c we can get nasty weather so even when people can get out to work/school they don't want to have to run to the grocery store. when we get a bad enough batch of snow that closes businesses and schools people want to be able to just hunker down and shelter in place so their winter stockpile becomes their default grocery store during these periods of time. allot of people in other parts of the u.s. never have to deal with this so their shopping habits have always been buy as needed but i think this whole pandemic experience with needing to stay at home AND having big shortages on many staple items may cause more people to start setting up their own stockpiles in anticipation/fear of what next winter's covid round could result in.

i usually do my winter shopping in early october but i will admit that with all the produce i'm seeing on the news and locally that is being plowed back into the fields vs. heading off to processing plants i'm concerned that many of the staples we rely on just won't be available (or will be price prohibitive which is already the case with much of the fresh produce here) so as we've recently shopped if i only need a single canned item and there's no shortage on the shelves then i'm grabbing one or two extra to set aside.
