Marathon Weekend 2021

Do you guys think that they will announce when they are going to release more bibs or do you think I just have to stalk it like crazy? I had 1/2 marathon and dopey in my cart when I went to pay dopey was gone and we didn't know what we wanted to replace it with and then we realized we were out of cell service camping when the general registration opened. Now that our passes will likely be extended to cover marathon weekend I'd really like to get a race.

If they decide to release a large number of bibs because Marathon Weekend looks like it may be able to be run at additional/normal capacity they “might” announce it because they’ll want to sell a large number of bibs in short order. I think we’re months away from any decision like that being able to be made, though.

As long as the newly available bibs are just a trickle from random sources, though, they won’t make an announcement. Stalking the site is your best bet for those.

I think they will release more bibs, but not announce. I could be wrong but that's my prediction. I would check daily, and if you see something, grab it right away!

I saw goofy this afternoon but didn’t grab it because my husband doesn’t want to run unless I do. Getting a 1/2 and either a Marathon, goofy or dopey will be tough. 😭

I do wonder whether there was genuinely a bib, or whether the rundisney page just shows that a bib is available but once you click through to the registration page it shows as sold out. I've seen that happen before, particularly with this year's virtual races.

I clicked through and signed in to make sure it was really available before I posted here. It was available for registration.

This year's marathon weekend is going to look different for sure. I've never seen the marathon go on the first day, but I also think it was a lot of wanna-be Dopey runners taking the marathon as a consolation race. Do we know if charities still have some bibs? I'm running for Autism Speaks, and I know they don't have any left.

Good morning, runDisney all-stars!

For this week’s Sundays are for Disney, where is your favorite place you’ve stayed on property and where haven’t you stayed that you’re eager to check out?

While I’ve enjoyed Pop and ASMovies, POR has been my favorite Disney resort. I love the theme and layout and the food options aren’t bad. It’s not the most convenient for marathon weekend due to the multiple bus stops, but it’s proximity to POFQ (another feature) makes that manageable.

For resorts I’ve never stayed at, my Top 3 are:

- Boardwalk - Or really any Epcot area resort. I like that area more than the MK area and would love to stay that close to Epcot once
- Poly - For Ohana, watching HEA from the beach and just the proximity to MK. I would love to wake up, look out my window and see the castle at sunrise
- AKL - Animals, Boma and maybe I’d finally try bread service at Sanaa

Have a great week and stay safe, everyone!

SAFD:

Beach Club and Bay Lake Tower are my two favorites. The proximity to the parks and the amenities are awesome.

I would love to stay at the Boardwalk which will hopefully happen in January.

I also want to stay at another MK resort which will happen if Wine and Dine happens.

The last one would be AKL, I always love visiting that resort so I really want to stay there.

SAFD:
Art of Animation. I love all of the movies featured there and it really feels like you're immersed in Disney and animation. I love it so much.
Honorable mention goes to Beach Club club level just for the convenience of everything.

I'd like to stay at Poly and Contemporary because they're the originals. I'm hoping to go at some point in October/November 2021 for the 50th, and my plan is to stay at one of those two on that trip.

SAFD:
Cool question.

As much as it pains me to admit, since my family has owned OKW for 28 years and I have many happy memories there, my favorite is BCV. The ability to walk quickly into and out of EPCOT during the festivals and to relax in the lazy river in Storm-a-long Bay just makes for a fantastic vacation.

For resorts I've never stayed at, well you never said they need to be at WDW just on Disney property! :p

The Grand Californian- Actually have a reservation coming up labor day weekend, but who knows if that will move forward with Covid-19. It would be my first trip to Disneyland California.

The Grand Floridian - I would love the opportunity to explore the restaurants at this resort, having only experienced the lounge.

Hotel MiraCosta- I'd love to visit Tokyo Disneyland and it would be very cool to stay inside the park.

SAFD:my very favorite is my home resort VGC. Love it there - totally home for me.

Bay lake towers is my favorite at WDW so far. Love being able to walk to MK. My kids real enjoyed the community hall with activities and games there. Staying there again in Sept (finger crossed)

I’m excited to stay at beach club in Sept. I’d love to try Riviera, Poly, and AK.

SAFD:
When I was younger I stayed at Caribbean Beach and Port Orleans (this was back when POR was still Dixie Landings)

now as a local living an hour away if we stay on property which is mostly race weekends we stay at all star or pop

I’d love to one day be able to afford/justify a Deluxe —-probably Swalphin will happen at some point as it’s a Marriott property

My two favorite resorts where I have stayed are POFQ and the Disney Institute. Before I became DVC, POFQ was always my go-to. I loved the grounds, peaceful setting and the boat to Downtown Disney/Disney Springs. I also likthe variety of the food court and having the Riverside food court close by if we wanted something different.

I had the opportunity to stay at the Disney Institute once before it became Saratoga Springs. I fell in love with the peaceful boat ride back from DTD/DS at the end of a long day. Our room was a one bedroom (there were three of us) and we had plenty of space. Memories of this trip were why I chose Saratoga Springs when I became DVC. Sadly, I didn’t know they had rebuilt everything... Funny thing, I’ve never taken the boat since I became DVC. But, I always stay in Congress Park and enjoy the walk to DS even more!

Some resorts I would like to try are the Boardwalk and Beach Club. Epcot is my favorite park and I would love to stay walking distance away! I would also like to stay at the Polynesian. It has my favorite theme of the monorail resorts. I would also enjoy a savanna view room at AKL. It is a beautiful resort and has great restaurants! But, it’s never at the top of my list because it is so far from all of the parks.
