I didn’t hear anything about hours but I won’t be surprised if they close early.
My family still wants to go so we’re going.
Little kids are a go, DH is a go. We are going.

I was able to move my Oga's ADR to the 15th, but now they've paused the system. I wanted to double check with YDD about swapping Tony's for Mama Melrose before I actually did (birthday). Should have just done it.
Tough call. Personally I’d have a hard time spending that much UR on Riviera and not being able to take advantage of the Skyliner. But if you don’t have another use for those UR in mind, then it could be worth it. It is a lovely place to stay. Taking into account the expiring DVC points I’d probably go and just try to really enjoy the resorts and take a very relaxed pace at MK/AK/DS. Or maybe try to add on a day if possible to get into EP/DHS.
I'm good on UR right now and have been looking forward to this one. I can't add a day. As it is we get home late, have a day to swap out the suitcase and we're off to softball bright and early on Friday. I need that day between to switch gears, snuggle the kitties and work.

I have September at Shades booked (cashing UR to cover the cost) and Nov/Dec at Poly so we'll be fine. We'll cover every part of MK and AK though lol

It's always possible there will be soft openings prior to July 15th for the two parks officially opening on that date. Like CM's or passholders or DVC.....you never know.

Decisions, decisions.

We arrive 7/10. MK and AK open 7/11 by reservation. We leave 7/15, the day DHS and Epcot open. What's on the line? Some expiring DVC points (I need to untangle that and see how many and what year) and a Riviera reservation booked on UR points which can no longer be done. Feeling a little conflicted.

USO and SeaWorld are opening so soon, I respect that Disney is taking longer to put things in place, but I wasn't expecting this much longer.
Oh my, we have the exact same dates as you. I'm bailing. If I can't do ROTR, I'm out. I was listening to the meeting and immediately made another reservation for 7/20-7/25 before the system bogged down. Not sure how it will all end up with reservations for park entry. Maybe we'll just keep our flights and go back to UO????

Called Chase to change my son's summer flights to December. Alaska has no change fees through the end of the year. Of course, Christmas flights are much higher than summer one I had booked. I did not know I could not use UR's to cover the additional cost. Boo. Then since Alaska changed one leg of the flight by 24 hours, I should be able to cancel for a full refund so I can rebook fully with points. Still on hold. A least I got right through on the phone at 2PM! Yay.

Since that one was easy I decided to ask her about the point refund for DH's cancelled Philippines air flights in May. Back to on hold again.

I booked our return flights from Japan this morning! We will be flying JAL first class from Tokyo to Richmond on April 21. It was a day earlier than I would have liked, but the flights over the next two days weren't great, so I just decided to go for it. Really looking forward to our trip! Now to rebook all the hotels!
Which points did you use to book JAL? I would love to have first for our return trip from the Maldives if I can make it work somehow :)!

I’ve been at a children’s hospital for over 24 hours now. Elliott had a fever yesterday morning so we took him to the ER next to our house. They did a horrible job and couldn’t even get his iv in after 20 minutes so we left and drove to Orlando to the children’s hospital instead since they’re specialized in pediatrics. His fever was slightly higher at 101 by the time we got there (an hour drive). They took his blood samples and collected urine. They also swabbed him for Covid which was horrendous for me to watch. He screamed so bad and there was nothing I could do to help him.

Dh was not allowed into the hospital at all because they have a one parent rule. So I’ve been here by myself the entire time and he’s at home worried sick. They told us yesterday that Elliott was doing much better and likely would go home today at 2 pm. They got his culture back today and results from his kidney ultrasound. One of his kidneys is slightly enlarged from reflux with the urine. The urine culture came back and he has a rare type of bacteria that requires more testing to see what antibiotic he needs so instead of going home today I might not be going home with him until tomorrow or possibly even later. If they can’t find an antibiotic that works against the bacteria then he will stay longer, get a more permanent iv in his arm, and a nurse will have to come to our house to give antibiotics that way every 6-8 hours.

This has been a horrible couple of days and I know Dh is feeling worried stuck at home. I’m crossing my fingers they find an antibiotic so we can go home tonight but it isn’t looking good. So it had nothing to do with my diet this entire time. It was just something we couldn’t control 😢

Oh my. I'm so sorry that you're going through this. It sounds like he is in the best place for care. Praying for you all.

You must be worried sick. Hang in there mama. Hopefully they find an antibiotic for him quickly.

Right.
"Oh, we'll stay at BW, we can walk to DHS in the morning to try for ROTR boarding. We can easily walk into Epcot too!" So much for that idea lol

I need a vacation. When I'm at home I have trouble not working. I know that's partly because I jump between work and school with a lot of little breaks for things like this. A vacation means I'm not checking emails until end of the day. We are both taking work laptops just in case. If someone gets sick we'll be able to just stay there and work from there. Being able to work from anywhere has it's pros and cons lol

Praying for you both. What a stressful situation! Hugs!

Well you can't make resort reservations right now. I don't even know what to do about our August trip now, because DH was so "get it done" about airline tickets, that we have THOSE paid for again now. We were going to do park hoppers and pretty much do one park in the morning and one in the evening and do afternoons at the pool. I have so many questions. We booked the "covid-cancelled-please-reschedule free dining" deal, which i thought you HAD to have park hoppers for. Which would be useless now? Nothing about procedures for resorts/pool areas. We have MNSSHP tickets. But there are no character meets now? No parades? No fireworks? We are flying down on SW so now I'm considering taking our stroller apart to possibly fit into a suitcase and gate-checking her car seat and then renting a car for a day or 2 to go off-property for some activities. It's not worth the cost (IMO) to go and just stay at a resort for as long as we are planning if we scrap park days altogether, plus DH would hate a trip where we aren't going and doing tons of things. I know that all of the precautions are for a good reason, but I'm so sad and disappointed with how different this trip is going to end up from what I had planned.

Which points did you use to book JAL? I would love to have first for our return trip from the Maldives if I can make it work somehow :)!

We used Qantas miles transferred from MRs (with a 20% transfer bonus that was running at the time) to book our JAL flights for our now-cancelled Japan trip.

In other churning news, the AF hit for my Platinum card yesterday. I chatted to see if there was a retention offer on my account. The rep could see some offer eligibility, but said I had to call in. I called and got through without any hold. After the phone rep went through the obligatory spiel about the new mobile and streaming credits and a new, targeted $200 travel credit for travel booked through the Amex travel site that is supposedly coming, she offered me 30k MRs to retain my card. So that's a win!

Since you have mnsshp I'm guessing the earliest you're going is mid august a month after they open. Not that I think some of that stuff will be back within a month but I don't think anyone knows what phase 2 and past that are, at least from the bit I've read.

I'm all for alternative plans, but I'd also waot for more info to come out on how it's all actually going to work and when things might get added.

So sad for you and poor little Elliott, but glad that he is getting the care that he needs. I hope they find an antibiotic that works on the bacteria as quickly as possible and he recovers soon.

yes. We are planning on aug 24-29. I’m a planaholic. I like to make my “everything goes how I want” plan and then backup plans of x or y goes wrong. I HATE being stuck in the middle of a big trip and having to trouble shoot and make a new plan on the fly. We do have a character meal (1900 park fare) booked that I might make a backup alternative reservation for.....
