Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

Just curious, what make you think that your kids are going back to school in the fall? I have several friends in the Washoe County (Reno, NV) school district who are expecting NOT to go back to school. They have trainings scheduled this summer to plan for online.

Our local schools recently announced that they will be reopening August 3rd for fall classes, with social distancing and the kids in masks. There will be varying drop off and pick up times.

Well at least one theme park in California is reopening...

(from: sfgate.com)
June 25, 8:30 a.m. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom amusement park in Vallejo is reopening next week without rides, according to a statement released Thursday. The visitor experience will focus on the park's animals, including lions, penguins and dolphins.

The park closed entirely amid the COVID-19 pandemic and will reopen on July 2 as an animals-only experience with various talks from animal care specialists and animal demonstrations at outdoor venues. None of the rides will be operating and the amount of visitors will be kept well below capacity.

C'mon Disneyland... reopen Main Street and the Hub, and we'll stare at the ducks. 😂
They opened the San Diego Wild Animal park too... i think the SD zoo too but not entire sure about that one. I saw the Disney Food Blogs video and post about the wild animal park when it opened which is why I had hope that DL would open.

We are booked at PPH starting 8/1 and are waiting to see whether any guest recovery is offered. It doesn’t make any difference whether we cancel now or in a month, so we are just sitting on it to see.
I am waiting to see what happens and if they announce a new re-opening date...we are scheduled to arrive 8/1
I’m Going to follow the crowd and do the same :)

It appears that APs without resort stays pull from a completely separate bucket than guests with resort reservations. Looking at the availability calendar there are days that are full for APs without resort days that are still available to book for resort guests.

Makes sense. Anticipate the same for DLR. Resort guests really should first crack and larger and earlier bucket to draw from. We just need a date -- not coming until after the 4th weekend it seems, so another 10 days of toiling.

Newsom did not say he’d give a date after the 4th, as in on July 6th we will know. He said he won’t give a date before the 4th. It could be September or even later before he gives the okay. The way things are going with numbers it is unwise and unsafe to open theme parks.

I agree to an extent but I foresee DLR giving APs a larger bucket. At WDW resort guests far outnumber APs without resort stays while at DLR APs far outnumber guests at DLR resorts. Maybe 50% hotel occupancy to DL & the other 50% to DCA with the rest of park occupancy going to non-resort guests.

The WDW park reservation system is glitching in a positive way for APs.

They were able to book reservations for length of their resort stays and today, are able to book for any 3 additional days.

IT can’t replicate the glitch. DLR APs should at least attempt booking as both resort guest (if they have a resort reservation) and then as straight AP.

It’s a test that’s worth a try. 504291

The only thing is- Disney is claiming that, not Newsom. He has not made any announcements about when he will or will not give guidelines. Disney gives this away by saying that the state “is indicating” that they won’t be able to open by the 17th instead of the state said they “won’t” or “cannot”. Plus Newsom is touting decreases is positive test amounts also....so anything can happen I guess.

That handsome boy is Ned: https://disneylandcats.com/cat-profile-ned/. He is friendly and allows guests to pet him. He can often be seen napping during the day under the bushes around the DLH.
This wild-ish kingdom moment brought to you by Mutual of Omaha...
Since we are sharing Disney cat photos, what about this cutie that hangs out near GRR? I think her name is Francisco. Maybe the person naming her didn't realize almost all torties are girls.IMG_20191101_133757.jpg

Quote from Newsom in this article:

"While speaking about forecasts and data, Newsom went out of his way to praise Disney for not reopening its Orange County Park. “I want to compliment Disney and their team for making that determination.”

He indicated that Disney’s decision may have come as a result of state guidance, or lack thereof. “They noted that the state had ceased offering guidelines in those categories. That is an example of the data informing decision making.”

It certainly does look like Francisco. The tell tale (tail?) giveaway is a kink in her tail where it was broken sometime long ago. She also is very friendly, when her mood is right, and loves to be adored by the fans. There is also a long haired, dilute calico who is often found with her -- Snickers!

My brother got a cat and named him Oliver. They found out “him” was actually “her” when “he” went into heat, lol. They just kept calling her Oliver though 😂

I did see the other kitty hanging out with her once, it was so cute! And yes, she is super friendly. Well sometimes. This time she just scowled at me. 😂
