Resort Mousekeeping- questions for those who have visited recently

we have a trip in Sept. Split stay BWV/AKV (kidani).
I was just reading this https://thepointsguy.com/news/how-to-ward-off-coronavirus-in-your-hotel-room/
and some thoughts came to mind regarding mousekeeping procedures during this strange time

The article advises "ditch the comforter".
Are the linens on the bed or wrapped in a package when you arrive and you make up the bed? If they are on the bed already, how do you know that the comforter is a fresh one? Do they leave a note or something indicating such? If not, can I ask for fresh comforters to be delivered to the room?

Any added input regarding your recent experience with hotel rooms in the Covid Era would be appreciated.
Please no criticism about anyone "living in fear". My desire for a clean room is to prevent family from getting sick during the vacation. No one wants that, EVER, Covid or no Covid.

The beds are already made up when you arrive - but no comforters at Disney. The rooms seemed very clean when we arrived. There's only mousekeeping service every other day during the stay and as far as we could tell, they only come in to replace toiletries and empty trash - beds weren't made up, but you can also decline this service if you want.

Interesting. I wonder if that is the standard at all resorts right now. Just replacing toiletries and taking out the trash. Did they remove and replace towels too? Sounds reasonable to me.

Does anyone know if a New Yorker travels to one of those states if we can come back to New York and have a Covid test and isolate until we get the results?

Yes, they did also replace the towels if you left them on the floor (same as they would have in pre-covid times). As far as we can tell, this is the same across resorts. We were at both BWV and CR - though I should say we were on a cash stay, not points.

That's good to know, we don't mine reusing our towels but we need clean washcloths each time we take a bath!

We have a fairly long stay coming up. Does anyone know if they will change the sheets out upon request? Wouldn't need it every time, thinking just maybe once over the course of the stay. It just seems a bit nuts to me to go that long without fresh sheets--we wouldn't go more than a week without sheets cleaning sheets at home.

You will have to call to request a change of sheets. You may be offered a package of clean sheets that you change at your convenience if you want to limit interactions. The other option is to request mousekeeping to change the sheets on their next scheduled visit to your room.

Here is what Disney lists for the modified cleaning service during you stay:

Your room will receive light housekeeping service every other day (unless you choose to decline the service). This service will include:
  • Removal of trash and used towels
  • Replenishment of towels and amenities throughout room and bathroom
  • Wiping and cleaning of the vanity and counter surfaces
  • Vacuuming, if needed
In addition, housekeeping tools will be cleaned between rooms.

Do they replace the coffee too?

We stayed at the Riviera (was an upgrade from the closed AoA suites) in mid-July. They came every other day, mostly to empty trash and replace towels on the floor. The spare pillows and beds were in sealed packages, as were the remote controls with a Sanitized sticker. On checkout, I learned that they sanitize the room and then don't have any other guests check in to it for 3 days. I'm not sure if that is a Riviera thing or all the resorts are doing that.

Since Disney decided not to clean the rooms then a $75 a day refund is owed each day they refuse to clean. I wouldn't put it past Disney that this becomes permanent at the same high daily rate. Now for all those who don't like my post.... I don't care.

Lol. Someone will attack you. That's what people do. Your not allowed a different train of thought.

Thank you. If we have the option to call and request it (either new sheets we change ourselves or a change by mousekeeping on their next services), that'd be great. Thinking of time one time my kids had a brilliant idea to eat some giant frosted cookies on the bed... crumbs and icing everywhere... ewww.

No worries.. it's on the list of what to cut back on to save money under magicbands

I forgot about that. Wouldn't shock me if they impose a foot surcharge which is not a tax but is taxable. It works like this... Three people in your room regardless of age will charge another $2 a day for wear and tear of flooring and concrete.

You should contact Disney with this suggestion. Couple of points to consider, though:
  • This is not vastly different than off-TOPIC housekeeping;
  • They're not refusing to clean, they are, just like many other businesses, and most likely for safety, reducing as much as possible interaction and direct contact between CMs and guests;
  • That $75(!) per day for housekeeping is a dramatic overestimate.
