I'm not really sure TBH. Ideally I'd probably wait until later next year but I guess I will have to wait and see how it goes with regards to a COVID 2nd wave here where I am in NY. Then I'll judge whether I feel the risk of catching that is worse than any side effects that I'm concerned (may) happen.
Right now the numbers here are very low, and we made it through the first wave being in a hot spot so right now it is easy for me to think about not getting it, but I admit that if the numbers go back to where they were before I may feel differently.

They are testing the vaccine and many will have already received it by the time it becomes available to the public. My husband and I are in a clinical trial now, but we're both pretty sure that we ended up in the placebo group. (It's double-blind, so we don't know that for sure; we're basing it on some anecdotal evidence among friends also in the study.)

Are you allowed to tell us which study you are participating in? Also, what makes you think you got the placebo? Honestly I wanted to sign up for a study but only if I got the real deal. lol.

Excellent question. We are absolutely allowed to get a vaccine if one is approved. We just have to inform them. They told us that right out of the gate.

Today's update: Moderna announced this morning they will have enough data by November to determine the efficacy of their candidate. This puts them right on the heels of Pfizer and theoretically doubles the availability of potential vaccines.

That’s how a lot of vaccines are developed. Multiple intentional exposure.

We need better science classes in our schools.

Several ways: 1. Development of antibodies which are comparable to those in people who've already had Covid. 2. Development of T-cells, the cells that fight viruses. 3. Comparing the rate at which people got covid in the placebo group vs. the vaccine group.
