Do I have to mobile order

Hi, just wondering if I NEED to mobile order at locations that provide the service, let’s say for example I’m staying at art of animation and my little boy and I want to check out the food options in the food court, is that still allowed? Or are we only able to place the order online through the app? I know it says it’s strongly encouraged but just asking if it is not even an option to order regularly. Thanks

My daughter's family will be staying at AOA soon. This is something she wanted to know too! Good question.

From the videos I have watched all counter service is mobile order and it's a pretty bad situation. Where you choose a pickup time. So it is being recommend to order food an hour +before you wish to eat.

We were just at WDW in October (didn't stay at AOA) but we couldn't get MO to work on our phone. We were allowed to go in and order at the counter service places. They would look at our phone to verify we were not lying. o_O

They will let you order in person, because some people may only have cash, or they may have allergy issues and it seems like the resort QS don’t let you customize your food (I know I couldn’t mobile order a burger at Pop in October because I didn’t have the option to remove the toppings I didn’t want—so I just stuck with desserts from there 😋)

They should have a person that can take your order, but gone are the days you could roam around looking at the options you need to pull up the MO menu or look at what the host has and order off of that.

You'll probably be told at first that you need to have a mobile order to come in. That's what we were told at every QS. If you have a genuine reason why you can't mobile order they'll let you in (e.g., only have cash, phone battery died, app malfunction), but it is definitely discouraged. The wait times in mobile order are how they control restaurant capacity so if they started bending the rules, they'd soon be over capacity limits.

The only reasons I have heard for being allowed to not mobile order are:
1 - Allergies - especially at resort food courts there is NO allergy menu on the app so you don't have a choice; if you have multiple/complicated/uncommon allergies it's recommended even if there is an allergy menu
2 - No smart phone
3 - Insisting on paying cash - remember they are trying to be as cash-free as possible to prevent multiple contact points, so while allowed it is highly discouraged

And as others have said, there's no wander around and look at the stations right now. Even if you meet one of the reasons to be allowed to not use mobile order, you're going to be directed to the register and handed a menu.

I have not stayed at AoA but have done multiple stays at Pop since reopening. There’s really nothing to look at the food courts. There aren’t food stations. Basically there is just a big table with numbered sections where you pick up your food boxed for takeout. There’s no bakery cases or grab n go items. The menus are all on the Mobile order sections in the MDE. The park QS restaurants are all mobile ordering too.

Looked at both POP and AoA and they kind of stop you before entering the food area to make sure you’re good is ready for pick up. This was the case at all QS places that had MO available. They will let you in if you want to pay cash, but the cashier will double check that you are paying with cash and if not, they’ll ask you to place mobile order.

This.

The Stations aren't open to browse and the Covid menu is extremely limited-designed for quick prep and quick delivery to Guests.

Here is the POP pickup area.

So, we don't have smartphones. Do you think they would let me order there and pay with a credit card? I keep hearing cash-only. Sorry if it's a dumb questions. Thanks.

Can a Disney gift card be linked to the mobile ordering app instead of paying with a credit card?
It's my understand that you will need to input your gift card number each time, it's not saved in the app. Recommendation that I've ready is to input your GC #s in your notes app so you can paste into the app as needed.

Hard as it is to believe not everyone has a smart phone.
And yet, there are people who don't have them- like me. Tracfone lives in the car for emergencies. That's it. I'm worried about what it's going to be like when we go to Disney again, although now this is becoming more and more of an "IF" than a "when."

Just got back from contempory and the cafe let you order at a register. Not advertised but possible.
