Will WDW lift mask mandate?

A vaccine doesn't prevent you from getting infected or being infectious -- it just prevents you from becoming critically ill. We don't even know yet how this effect lasts, or whether it will be effective against new strains. One of them isn't effective against the South African strain, but there about another 200 in trials right now.

I agree with the people above -- Disney will be cautious to preserve their reputation, to protect their workers, and to prevent lawsuits.

DME is just gone. You can always take a Minnie Van for $150 each way.

You have some misinformation in your post.

They just restricted it more. So no, not anytime soon. Disney is not trying to please constituents they are trying to run a company, safely.

And Disney follows CDC recommendations more than Orange county policy really. However I DO think they will take the opportunity to increase park and ride capacity and open restaurants, attractions, venues, etc. as much as they feel they can do safely to increase revenue.

Yeah, I see right now the mask and social distancing is sort of like wearing a seatbelt and having an airbag. As they will start to ease restrictions it will be gradual not everything lifted at once

And Disney wants more paying guests in so I see easing of the socials distancing so that they can increase park capacity as their first step and will still require masks for quite a while

ah gotcha. On the podcast, they said they're bringing the Minnie Van drivers back.

They returned all of the actual Minnie Vans ... Now, they could restart it or have some other program started up - for a few (as I think people will pay for the convenience and feeling "all inclusive with it being Disney provided). But DME as we know it is almost certainly never coming back

There will always be people willing to pay. lol it won't be me. there are too many great things to spend money on.

Well, with DME gone you will have to pay to get there somehow. Be it renting a car or Uber or something (some are obviously cheaper than others)

we already decided we'll rent a car and do a split stay with Universal, or all nights at Universal. Whether or not we did any days at Universal or SeaWorld was always dependent on whether we had a car, but with our favourite resort perks gone now we're going over to the dark side and checking out their hotels too.

They will be removed from sea world first then universal
And then Disney . For many people it will always be too soon. But it’s coming before many on this board are gonna want. Not saying in spring but this year .

likely LEGOLAND first.

they didn’t open with masks. They added them after a city mandate and kept them after the mandate expired back in October? November?

I can see LEGOLAND removing them in the next few months. Then Seaworld as soon as OC lifts mandate.

UOR will likely do indoor only (which LEGOLAND has done with great success!) when the OC mandate expires. I think they’ll try to find some middle ground where people can feel protected within reason.

yes you are correct. Not sure why I didn’t mention legoland since we were just there. There’s will drop right after spring break season I bet!

universal I agree will go indoors first and then Disney will follow shortly after.

This is just wrong (and not just your Minnie Van statement). I suggest you spend some time looking at how vaccines work. As for the COVID-19 vaccines, this bit of speculation has been repeated frequently because, rightfully so, officials have remained cautious in the absence of real world data. Fortunately Israel - who has among the highest vaccinations rates in the world - now has data to start to answer this question. Two Israeli studies have found that the Pfizer vaccine greatly reduces virus transmission:

If you want to follow the most up to date science regarding COVID vaccines, look at the Israeli studies. They have the data.

With science, speculation is worthless, data is the only standard.

Not right away but eventually and I think it’ll be in phases. Outside at resorts, outdoors at parks, then indoors, etc.

They will wait until sea world and universal do it first.

I’m hoping by the end of this year.

I would be surprised if Disney drops their mask requirement before the 50th Anniversary weekend, just due to PR concerns and crowd issues. After that, I believe they will be cautious and follow Sea World and Universal to see how they fare before dropping their own requirements. I believe they will keep social distancing for a while after masks are no longer required, in an effort to reduce the possibility of infection. If all goes well, I could see the possibility of no masks and no distancing after the Christmas holidays, when the crowd levels are usually a little lower in general. I don’t think they would drop precautions right before, or during, a busier period.

I am looking forward to the return of FP, and would be thrilled if it were back for my anniversary weekend trip, but I am trying to be realistic as well.

South Africa is literally giving all of its doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine away because it isn't effective against the new strain in their country. All of the vaccine companies are testing their vaccines against new strains as they emerge, and this is probably going to happen from time to time until we can reduce the spread and prevent more strains from evolving.

The Pfizer studies can't be used to extrapolate results for all of the available vaccines; they are all slightly different. but as I said there are about 200 in trials worldwide, and the existing vaccines can be tweaked if necessary. That's going to take time though. I don't think masks will be gone any time soon.
