Norwegian Cruise Line’s Buffet Will Be ‘All-You-Can-Eat, but With Service’

I hope their "probably" equals much better. NCL doesn't have the best cruise buffet IMO.

"According to the VP of Food and Beverage Operations, Wes Cort, the buffet will remain – with, probably, better food variety and quality than before – but service will be added."

I have a feeling that "if" buffets do return to WDW, this is how they will be run. Honestly, this is one of those good changes from all of this.

I completely agree with that! I have been kind of wondering why they can’t do that now... or, even follow in the footsteps of converted restaurants, like Chef Mickey’s, and serve family style to the table! I actually preferred being served family style than having to get up anytime I wanted more food! I think having servers would work out great for the club level situation as well. I think the one main issue would the additional staff that would be needed to do that.

I am sort of on the fence with this. My primary concern is what happens to the food that is returned from the family style serving that isn't eaten. I am highly confident the protocol will be to discard it, but it still crosses my mind if I'm getting someone else's turn away. For whatever reason, I like picking out my food(s) looking for quality at a conventional cruise buffet.

I do think this type of service will become norm across the cruising industry for at least a few years.

Oh come on! :D They aren't giving you the leftover food off of someone else's platter!

Just FYI - this is against the rules. Not to worry.

Even when restraunts donate 'extra' food to foodbanks, etc it's the unserved, prepared food. Not the uneaten.

You're good. My sister is a chef. 👩‍🍳

Yeah. People clearing are so busy and fast they aren’t even looking or paying attention to what’s eaten. It all gets dumped. No one has time to determine what has been eaten or not. And no motivation to do so, either. Would make their lives harder, not easier.
