10/1/21 (Planning thread for those w/ Magic Kingdom ressies on the BIG 50th)!

Does Disney still have a charge for no shows? We’re a party of 3 but I made an adr for 4 since 3 wasn’t giving me any results. If 3 of us show up will we still have to pay the $10.00 for the 4th “person”? I’m prepared to pay it but am just wondering.

They still have a no show charge, but in this case you will not be charged.

We went at Thanksgiving, and had reservations for 7 or 8, my sister and her husband were supposed to come, but they ended up not coming and we were always 5, they didn't charge for the reduction.

I couldn't get anything at MK for 10/1 this morning. Will set up an alert I guess. I considered going out of park but want to hold off for The Wave to open up after I see their menu. My biggest shocker was trying to get Sanaa for 10/2. Nothing was coming up. I finally went straight to the Sanaa page and checked there and only got one after I put in a ressie for 4 - its only me. But I am glad I got it. I elected to do AK on the 2nd since everyone else was after EP
Yeah - totally would do the Wave for the 1st - but rather have something now to fall back on and switch if it comes up.

My other hope is that The Plaza starts opening for Breakfast. A 10a breakfast would be great.

If you're less than your reservation number, just call at an off hour and have them change the number of people.

Sunday was my ADR day & couldn't find anything for MK on the Friday so I'll keep checking. I was able to get Oga's on the Saturday evening so excited about that. We will start at Epcot Saturday morning & then hop to HS when we've had enough. I figured Friday will be a long day & late night so a late start Saturday is probably better for us (need Mom to hang in there lol).

I booked Oct 1st last year and had plans to be there before the gates open until closure, the shoulder to shoulder crowd doesn’t bother me (I love the NYE there)… but now my family is coming along (incl. my 6yr old niece) and dont think they will like to be in a place just saving a good spot for fireworks..

we have a BLT reservation so hopefully the observation deck will be open..

but I have to make a decision… be in the middle of everything in the park and enjoy the ambiance… or be at the hotel with family..

decisions decisions…

any thoughts? :)
If you have a bay lake view you may get one of the north wing rooms with MK views.

It’s a short walk. You could hop back for a visit at any point during the day or some of your party and pop over to see you. Easy peasy with the walkway.

Yeah; we're going into HS on the 2nd, will still get up for the virtual queue (so glad for that), but don't need to rush rope drop.

Same boat, There Was NOTHING available for ADR at the Magic Kingdom 10/1. Guess, Mobile ordering for that day.

We ended up getting a late Cape May breakfast for that morning. Well, somehow I ended up with 2 ADRs because the app glitched. So we are just going to leave after rope dropping a couple of headliners and hopefully Rise. I kind of feel like after the chaos of 10/1 we'll want to take it easy the next day.

We have a short trip, so if we want to do much for the 50th we can’t take it easy lol! My DH is not overly excited about that. I’m planning on all day 10/1 in the MK, and 10/2 is Epcot. I’m kind of hoping they keep the late opening, but I hope we know by then what the procedure will be for Ratatouille- such as if we’ll have to line up early to get in line, if it will be a VQ, etc. I would like to have a relaxing Epcot day, but the reason we did put Park pass that day instead of 9/30 was because the ride opened, so I would hate to not ride it of we’re able to.

I have an ADR at Whispering Canyon but am seriously thinking of canceling and just brown bagging it.
We're popping out for Grand Floridian Cafe for an early lunch (11:15) - I'm just going to need a break already I feel. (though, we are at Wilderness Campgrounds w/ a cabin, so could just cook there). But I intend to also pack sandwiches (gotta look into the ice pack updated rules) for later in the day. My mom's old secret of freezing the sandwiches the night before when I went to school will definitely come into play. As much as I *want* Casey's while I wait for the fireworks - that will be when the line is the longest!

Oh, speaking of fireworks - How long to folks intend to start holding their spot for the show? And where do you intend to hold your spot? With the new lights down Main street.
We'll be in MK twice, Oct 1 and Oct 6. For the 6th, we have two family members with scooters who will need to get out - even though we're staying until Midnight - they are not. So that's going to be hinky for us. Will likely camp out near the flagpole area for the 6th so they can get out fast and then we'll have to just hide while the park empties - you can't swim upstream against that crowd, I've tried!
Likely aiming for the Hub for the 1st. (Would so pay for serious Dessert Party tickets! or any special viewing locations for an upcharge!)
I think we all assume the park is going to be open WAY past 9pm on Oct 1 (The current listed time). Enchantment is already listed as starting at 9p.

You can use loose ice if you bag it. I’ve been using loose ice double bagged in Ziplocks since before the rule change. If you have a freezer frozen water bottles work well.

I think we're really going to try and play it by ear because I'm almost certain people are going to be camped out for hours at a time on Main Street. Ideally we will try to be out there early (like 5 ish) but if we're too overwhelmed by the crowds by that point I have no issue leaving and watching it another night. We really don't have any plans set in stone for that day other than to show up as early as possible.

Looked at dining reservations for the 50th today and it looks like it'll be empty at the other parks. There were 2 openings for Oga's Cantina for 5:00 pm!

Speculation based on what though? All that happens is people end up needlessly freaking out. It happens around here all the time which is why I don't engage in it. There's enough to actually worry about lol.
It's perfectly possible to have an adult converstation with well-argumented opinions without freaking out. I didn't ask you to engage in anything, I was simply asking for other people's opinion. Surely I'm not the only one who's not pretending that nothing's actually going on in FL. Ignoring it doesn't mean it's not real.

Based on the forum rules, we can discuss how the changes and impacts of COVID impacts our vacations, so we can discuss - and I'm sure we can be polite. :)

We have no idea how much capacity is actually opened in MK for the 1st. So we have to keep an eye on it - I don't think they've opened it as much as they have right now, and I do hope they don't open it again. I do intend to go regardless myself - my DVC reservations are already credits from a reservation canceled during COVID, I will not get that money back. And I'd happily just sit in our resort room at AK and look out at the Savanna. We're driving and have kitchens for all of our stays, so I feel we'll be able to stay as safe as we can and still enjoy the break. Unless the parks and resorts are closed, I intend to go.
