***Official DLR November 2021 Check-in Thread***

I am definitely freaking out, since we are going in the days just before Thanksgiving. We had multi-day tickets purchased back in 2019 for our March 2020 trip that didn't happen (and that was rescheduled again and again over the past 19 months), so we need to use them and wanted to try to get there before annual passes and capacity came back, but we missed it. We're locked in, already have airline credits sitting around for previous failed flights that we couldn't use this time and don't want any more, so we're going to try to the make the most of it. I'm trying to tell myself that we'll get on a few rides and we'll get to walk around and soak up the atmosphere, and I just need to be content with that. I still haven't convinced myself, but I'm trying to be realistic so I'm not disappointed.

I'm not so much worried about it. It is surprising hearing about these long wait times through. I have been checking Wed-Sat the last few weeks to get and idea for when we are there over Veterans Day and didn't see waits that were too long. Of course I could have just been looking at the wrong times too.

It's just a guess but the increased crowds this past weekend could have been because Universal and LA County started mandating the vaccine or negative test so people could have decided to go to DLR instead. Or is that mandate not in effect until this week? The other thought I had was because it is a long weekend where people are off school/work. Veteran's Day is a Thursday this year so it might not be too bad if people have to work/go to school that Friday.

I have been trying to tell myself the same thing. We don't have to ride Everything...We will have fun just being there, enjoying the atmosphere, the sights and sounds of disney...right??? lol

Anyone else starting to "Freak Out" a little bit over the reports of how crowded the parks are these days?? I am hoping the crowds will be lower once the Halloween rush is over. But, we will be in the parks over the long Veteran's Day weekend. Eeekkkkk....
Just over a month to go! :)

I am going the same time frame :) I expected it to be crazy busy though and it's my first trip without kids so I am chill about it all. I really would be content just sitting on Main Street lol.

I'm going hopefully be doing the same while we are there. This is our first trip with my daughter's boyfriend so they will be able to go do whatever they want. If they want to hang out by the pool I may just go wander around and soak it all in. We also have tickets to the first Merriest Nights so we should be able to get a bunch of rides in during that between the parades and fireworks. At least that is the plan.

It's me, DH and our 11 year-old. When we originally booked the trip, he was 9...now he's an impatient pre-teen, so I'm not sure how it's going to go. We just plan to feed him and throw him on some coasters to make him happy.
I remember when my son was at that age, he started getting into coasters like Big Thunder, Space Mountain, Matterhorn and Rock N Roller at Disney World. I was the one to go with him as my daughter and my husband hated coasters. It was not my favorite thing to do, but I enjoyed the time spent with him waiting in queue (this was way back when teens and pre-teens were NOT glued to their phone) and he would tell me all about Club Penguin... now he's in college and too cool for Disney, so sad!

Hope you have fun and enjoy the long delayed trip.

I'm travelling with my (will be turning) 14 (on our trip) year old son. He eats like a horse!! LOL I will do the same as you...keep him fed and happy and on whatever rides have the shortest wait time! LOL

Yes me! :scared: I am hoping the same. Readings comments about how people didn’t have a good time worries me.

I haven’t been in a really crowded situation since covid hit. Groceries etc and I do work in a busy retail store but nothing like the parks. I hope we are able to just enjoy being there. I miss the parks and getting away. Hoping knowing what to expect will make the trip better.

It is hit or miss getting on rides with these crowds. We were there last weekend, and while it is definitely crowded, for us the situation was fluid and we were always able to find a ride we wanted to enjoy with a line that was under half an hour just by watching the wait times and being willing to cross the park if we saw one that was at 20 minutes, which meant a lot more zig zagging than when FPs/MaxPass existed. For instance, we walked into the park after waking up late Saturday morning, saw that Pirates was under 10 so we went for that, wanted to go on Splash which was at 60, but Smugglers was at 25 so we went there, had a snack, when we got off Smugglers, Splash was at 20 (in theory, but ended up being under 10), and by then Pirates was at 60 and Smugglers was at 55. When we walked off Splash it was 75 but the Canoes were 10 in theory, walk on in practice. The only ride we really wanted to go on during our 3 day visit that we didn't get to was Space Mtn. We rope dropped for it on Sunday but it broke down right after opening, we'd only been in line about 5 minutes, and when it came back up around 11 it jumped from 20 to 55 before we could get over, and since we never saw it under an hour again we gave up. We'll RD for it next month. RSR also never dropped below an hour, but my party had decided on an earlier trip that we want DL as our starting park every time since there are no snacks we want at DCA before 11, so we'll never get to RD RSR, but are okay with that. When we popped into DCA at night we've gotten on Soarin/Incredicoaster/Grizzly all with reasonable wait times. Guardians we chose to suck it up and wait for close to an hour.

Place your mobile orders for food early, that helped a lot. Decide what you want to eat at 8a, with guestimates of when you'll be hungry and take your spots then, if there are still timeslots available later you can change it but if not you won't be hungry or waiting in one of the incredibly long food lines.

We're there the same days, which sold out a few weeks ago for Theme Park reservations. The E tickets are tough, so pick the ones you want and rope drop for those. It is still Disney, it is going to be delightful in the parks with the atmosphere and all the little attractions (canoes, carriage rides, steamboat, etc, etc), but do have a strategy for where you want to be midday when the crowds are at their worst. We booked a cabana bc we didn't want to be in the park in the afternoon and our room won't be ready until after 4, but a leisurely lunch at a sit-down or in DTD could be an awesome way to relax, or even just enjoying TS island or one of the non-ride fun things to do.

Did the crowds thin out later in the evening? I would rather sleep later and stay at the parks until closing, than get up early for RD! Since we aren't travelling with little ones, we don't have to worry about naptimes or evening bed times. Your park touring style is probably what we will end up doing, crisscrossing the park based on wait times.
Thanks for the info!

On the not-Oogie Boogie nights it did. Friday night we did several rides with under a half hour (not Space/RSR/Guardians, but many of the others were reasonable, Pirates/Star Tours/Smugglers were all short for us, Matterhorn was reasonable but we chose more snacks instead ... I even remember passing by Indy and thinking it was weirdly short, like 40 when Jungle also happened to be 40 so I didn't know what to do with that).
It felt like by 8 a lot of people were lined up for the fireworks, so the rides/outlying areas weren't as bad crowd-wise. Saturday night we went back in late and we were able to enjoy Mater's/Grizzly/Soarin not too bad (we were focused on snacks, so just took whatever was short). Sunday was Oogie Boogie (we did not get ticket for that) and everything looked terrible at DL so we didn't go back in the evening.
Your ability to get any of the E-tickets for a reasonable wait time probably won't happen without Rope Drop though, but if the E-tickets aren't important to you, you'll likely be fine.

We are 3 weeks out from our trip now. I think it will be great. Hoping for not crazy crowds since Halloween and Oct will be over and Christmas will not have started yet. We are rope droppers and have always managed to get 5-6 rides in just the first 2 hours. Hope that's still the case. We have ressies for lunch, will mobile order dinner early and take our usual late afternoon break at the hotel. Still hoping Genie +/Lightning Lane will be available. Would like to have that option as a backup plan even if we don't end up using it. Also will be checking ride waits constantly and zigzagging the park if necessary.

Thanks for all the great information. I've been coming to the DISboards for well over 10 years now to plan our trips. I love this community!

I am starting to think about what we would like to accomplish in the parks each day, being only myself and dh it will easy to just spend some time enjoying the parks etc. The first day we get to the parks is 14th, I expect it to be busy being a Sunday. Can't wait to see everyone dressed up for the Dapper Day!!

I have been watching some vlogs on the Genie + and it seems like it is pretty close to Max Pass. The biggest difference being only one attraction per day which sucks and maybe they will change that down the road. I would like to see it released now so some glitches can be worked out before we are there. I have never been to the parks without some sort of fast pass system so it definitely will be strange not to have that as part of our days.

Anyone started packing yet?

I have started gathering things, but not packing (tlcdoula, we are going the same weekend as you!). I finally got our final reservation for Lamplight. My daughter told me she wanted to go there for her birthday lunch, so I have been patiently waiting for Mouse DIning to alert me, and it finally came in. We have all our meals booked, all sit-down this time around.

We will be there the 6th through the 13th (fly home the 14th) Oh dear lord. Why did they pick the 13th and 14th fro Dapper Day Stuff? The official opening of Christmas is Nov 12th. Eeeeek It is funny, may last day at WDW was Dapper day this year in April too. Wow.

And I think things will not be as strict on timing on Genie+ (if it comes out in Nov) in DLR cos MaxPass never made you wait 90 mins or your scan in for your current one (whichever is first) so I doubt they would make us wait 2 hrs like they are stating.
