Sorcerer pass wirh no blue card?

Maybe I'm off the mark but my take on this is that despite what we all perceive as the rules, the real powers that be have decided that getting people back into the parks for the next year or so is the number one objective. Increasing annual DVC passholders is one way to get more out of state people in and they've decided to tap this resource.

People are having a great time in relatively uncrowded parks. That's not to Disney Parks advantage. They need those high crowd days to get their numbers back up. So they will sell an AP to anyone who remotely qualifies. They'll save the rules for when they don't need the crowds as much. As with everything Disney, the bottom line has to be what counts. It's a business and that second or third visit by any DVC member is business so long as the parks have space. They've already protected themselves for Thanksgiving and Xmas this year via a new blackout.

We may see a return of the usual blackout or an increase in blackout days in the next revision of the blackout calendar.

Meanwhile, white card holders, enjoy! There is no guarantee that any kind of carrot extended by Disney will last.

My last parks visit was in Feb of 2020. I had an AP which got eventually almost fully refunded - I took 3 trips on it and got $600ish back. Haven't been back since. And there are a few people like me out there. I was planning a November visit. I let it go. Later in November I will be at Hilton Head. 2022 will see me in Florida at some point. Where to stay is up in the air, but I've got loads of points and there's little availability for dvc rooms in January and February. But, there is no doubt that I'll have a pass and will spend something in the parks.

As a white card member, what’s the best way to get sorcerer’s passes when going in person? We’ll be upgrading some tickets when we head down next month.

Just go to guest relations and say you want to upgrade your tickets to a Sorcerer Pass. My assumption is they will ask if you are DVC and when you say yes, they will ask you to show them proof. At that point, show them the card you have and it will be then that the CM will decide whether or not that qualifies.

Previously, the Platinum pass was about a $300 discount for both eligible members and FL Residents. In addition to the Gold Pass being for both eligible DVC and FL Residents.

Now the Platinum pass became Incredipass with no discounts to either members or Florida Residents. So perhaps they are not concerned about extending the now Sorcerer pass to all members, they can get more sales and discourage crowds around the holidays.

So here's a question: It looks like I am taking a trip to Disney World during Christmas this year. I also have several trips planned next year. I really don't want to miss out on the opportunity to get a sorceror's pass (and potentially renew it every year with a white card) when I am physically there, so instead of buying incredipasses for myself and family, I'm thinking about just doing regular park tickets for Christmas week, and then separately buying the sorceror's passes while I'm there (but not activating them till my February trip). Is this crazy?

Buying onsite has always been an actual pass, not the voucher What you might want to do is see if you can purchase the voucher now and hope when you go in February they are still allowing all DVC owners to activate.

If you are not a blue card holder it’s a risk because they can start enforcing that requirement at any time. Even if you got it nothing is guaranteed that you will be allowed to renew as a white card holder next year if the rules officially say eligible for membership magic.

IMO, by the Incredi pass and cover December too and not worry.

I am here now and to say it’s wildly inconsistent for discounts it’s an understatement. So far I have been allowed to purchase merchandise with a white card, no card, blue card with no ID and blue card with ID, including making sure I handed the cash. I simply said DVC and the CM told me what was needed.

For dinner at Steakhouse 71, they would not take the white card. I had to show the blue one but he didn’t take the ID.

GR at AK told me a blue card is needed to activate a pass when I inquired. When I said I have heard of so many have been allowed via any card, she said CMs have discretion. I wasn’t getting but goes to show that there is really no set in stone policy other than blue card works every time. White card is hit or miss.

I guess it would come down to what is the price difference for you to get one Incredipass that covers everything (including your Christmas trip), or separate ticket for Christmas trip + Sorceror's pass.

If you're doing say, a week at Christmas-time, the price difference for the Incredipass is probably better for your case to cover that week in Dec. If instead you are only going for 1 or 2 days at Christmas, or if your trip is early Dec, then you're better off getting the Sorceror's pass.

We're at Disney World now. White card holders. Upgraded our unused park hoppers to sorcerer AP's at the MK ticket window. No questions asked. Based upon a post I read here I showed my profile from the MDE website, which simply reads "DVC Member". It does not differentiate while from blue.

We have been receiving the DVC discount everywhere, including Steak 71. It appears the DVC class system may be changing.

And see the difference. My server at Steakhouse 71 would not accept the white card on Sunday. I pulled up that card on purpose and he said it was not a valid one. I had to show blue and once I pulled out my real card, it was fine. So, IMO, it’s not that rules are changing, but CMs doing different things.

A few more questions:
if my husband is listed on my DVC account but he does not have a personal my Disney experience account, is it possible to add his DVC status to my family and friends list?
If not, how do people at the guest relations or ticket offices know that he is DVC?
Also, is it better to go to a regular ticket counter (at MK for instance), or to guest relations to buy the sorcerer’s pass?

Interesting. My experience at table service restaurants has been that they use those hand held devices to read my magic band. I'm thinking that those don't specify a membership type, buy simply indicate if you're a DVC member. I don't think I've ever been asked to produce the actual card in a restaurant.

I’ve been asked for the card at restaurants and stores. It’s obviously just a situation of who you get that day. They have also given a discount to my husband, who isn’t a DVC member. It’s the luck of the draw.

We always have. They ask if we have a discount and I say DVC and AP. They then ask to see the card even when scanning my MB.

I think this is the piece I find disappointing. I don’t care who they give discounts too but it should not be hit or miss. Either give it to everyone or enforce the rules.

Most often no. I have had a few over the years that were which is why I say DVC and AP when asked.
The main exception that comes to mind is the Patina group restaurants offer 15% for DVC and 10% for AP. (Via Napoli, Space 220, etc.)
