We’re going real this year for the first time in a long time. I was always concerned our hound would pee on a real tree in the house, so we’ve been putting up an artificial one. Sadly, he passed right before Christmas last year, so we’ll put up a real one this year.
I prefer real. But we travel, and our cat is untrustworthy, so we have artificial. We get a real wreath at Costco, to make the house smell nice, and we pop it in the trash when we head to the airport.
Artificial. Did real every year until DH and I got frustrated with the quality of the trees at the local nurseries. The really good local nursery closed a few years ago and the remaining options were so disappointing. So I would prefer real, but fake will have to do.
We’re a divided family. He loves real. I love what mom calls “The Toilet Brush Tree.”
Mine goes up on Thanksgiving if possible, his goes up Christmas Eve.
This is our first year with an artificial tree and we haven't started putting it up yet. We were paying close to $200 per tree and Costco had some nice ones for a reasonable price last year after Christmas.
We'll see how it goes. Normally, we would be putting up the tree this weekend but DD is home from college for a short visit and her social calendar is packed.
We also have a garage sale with our neighbors set for next Saturday, and a couple of things the next week, and then DD comes home for Christmas on the 10th. So I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't get pushed back to the 11-12th weekend.
This is just one more thing that is not the same without DD home!
Artificial, we have three already up this year (not including the miniature ones that will go in the kids ' bedrooms, just can't bring myself to give up that tradition).
Same - one of each - artificial in the dining room by the big palladium window decorated in gold ornaments with crystals and real in the living room decorated in gold and navy…
Since we plan to be out of town for the holidays we aren't putting up a tree. When we do put up both trees, one is all Disney ornaments, and we only do artificial trees because real branches won't support our heavy ornaments.
We do have a real wreath from Costco for a Christmassy smell.
