Do most of you get charged a convenience fee if you use your credit card to pay property taxes? Ours is 2.09%. Thinking of applying for the SW biz card to get me to CP sooner and pay the taxes. I’m 4/24 and I have 2 other cards I’m working on the MSR Sw priority opened 10/22/2021 and Venture x opened 12/6/2021. Taking my time on the x as I already have a good stash of Cap One miles to use. I also have a large deposit to make on a Generac. Is it too soon to try for a biz card? My only other biz card is the CIP which I opened Jan 2021 and I’ll be downgrading when AF comes due to a CIC.
Yep ours is 2.09% as well…I’ve only done it once to meet a MSR…usually mail a check since for some reason they charge $1 to pay online…that just makes me mad…

its almost 3 months since your last Chase application so you could apply for the SW business card now

Tangential question: I see some here freeze their credit in between applications. Is this just to protect against identify fraud or are there other benefits to doing this? How easy/time intensive is it to freeze/unfreeze? Guess I should probably be an adult and think about doing this! 😆

i have had a security freeze for over a decade to protect myself from identity theft. It is very easy to unfreeze, done online. It only takes a couple of minutes. You can specify how long you want the freeze to be off and then it will automatically go back on.

I always call the credit card company to ask which bureau they use and then just unfreeze that one.

Same… 2.9% here too, but worth it. Not too soon for a new Chase card.

He needs to unfreeze his credit, then call them and tell them he forgot to unfreeze it before he applied and ask them to run it again. If you just wait, he's going to have to wait 30 days to apply. It should be a quick call.
What number should he call? There wasn't a number in the email he received from Chase.

Not sure if you mentioned it before but are you applying under sole proprietorship, using your SSN? Make sure your business name is exactly the same as your actual name, no business name. Actual businesses seem to get more investigation than the "businesses" many of us use. Also if you haven't heard anything on your app, maybe call in. It might be identity verification or something simple. Worst case is they deny you, but without calling you're effectively denied anyway.
yes busines name our actual names and ssn

I'm home today so maybe I'll call. So frustrating

I have a question about Universal tickets purchased through the Chase portal. What is the best way to confirm that I have the tickets and get them? When I look at my trips in the Chase portal I see our resort (Royal Pacific) and our tickets. I'm just not sure what the best way is to confirm the tickets and to either get them now or when we get there.

I’m planning to apply for the SW Performance Biz card next week. Has anyone had luck getting that card expedited, or otherwise managed to begin spending on it before receiving it?

Thanks for your input and advice. I think it will be difficult to achieve Hyatt Globalist at the moment. Not only will it be hard to stay that many nights and/or spend that much $ on the card, I think the status only last for about a year+ and then you have to keep staying and spending to keep the status from year to year? Has the SUB been better in the past?

Seems like throwing a $450 AF to Hilton (once a year) to achieve Diamond status is the easiest for my lazy ***.

I need to do some research to see what benefits are available and which ones will be valuable to me.

Thanks again!

The Hyatt SUB used to be better at 50-60k for $6000. It’s been at this lower SUB for some time, though at one point they offered double elite nights.

DH got the card when they offered 5 extra elite nights. Plus last year the requirement was reduced to 30, so it was the first time we’re Globalist. Now I’m hooked. Hoping to get it again this year, but might need some promos to do it. Status earned this year would last until Feb 2024.

The Hilton Aspire is great. Resort credit is card member year. Double check that there are properties on the resort list that would work for you. If you apply, you can also use a support from P2 from any Amex card except a cobrand other than Hilton.

I have always asked right after approval, and they have always said yes. I just asked for my CIU, I will update when they answer.
I’ve never had an issue getting a CIU, CIC, CFF etc expedited…so you shouldn’t have an issue
but with the co branded cards they verify..in SW case your RR number before sending the card…I have also had luck asking them to expedite 24-48 hours after approval…not right after

If you have Away luggage what do you like about it? What size do you think is the best? I am only really considering it with the $200 off offer, but that is still way more than I would normally spend on luggage, especially since I will need to get more than one piece to use the offer. I still love, love, love 😍 my luggage I got 75% off at Target years ago (I think I paid $25) but it is starting to come apart at the seams so may be time to retire soon, but I have got a ton of use out of it for how much I paid. My Target luggage is colorful and the Away luggage kind of makes me sad with how boring it is to look at. lol

Not sure about confirming. I bought tickets through the portal in 2019 and took the voucher to guest services in RPR and got my tickets there right after checking in to get my room key/express pass.

BTW. Love RPR, great resort.

So that's a really good question. It does help with organization, wheels really nicely, and I like the charger on the carry on. We (DD and I) have bigger carryons. I replaced a $100 Delsey which was nice, but thisis definitely a step up.

And it's not boring, it's cool looking:) To me it's like a Lexus--nicer than a Toyota, but more sensible than a Mercedes.

Hooray, just had 52,000 points added to my 2022 Companion Pass goal as my SW card statement just closed. I KNEW it was going to post to this year, but it’s still reassuring to be able to finally confirm it.

Also just signed up for a Peloton digital subscription with my CSP, with two free months and the credits that equal about four more, I hope to get good use out of it, especially now that the winter cold has struck and while I’m one of those crazy people who will run five times a week, I can’t do it when it’s well below freezing.

Not sure how much it matters to you or to others looking at Away or any other suitcase, but I think they are too heavy. I like the suitcases I currently have but if I could find a lighter large size I would get a new one . My two checked bags are both hard sided but both weigh less than the comparable size in Away. My carryon is soft side, which is fine since I don't plan to use it as a checked bag, but it's also lighter than their carry on. It may only be 1-3 lbs difference but that's a lot when you're trying to stay under weight for a checked bag.
