Trying to read and learn all the lingo in this thread. I looked in the starter threads and could find it. What does 5/24 mean?
I parked at the Hampton Inn the next exit down 294. Cost me $30 for the 5 days I was there, no idea if they offer their lot to those that don't stay there. Shuttle was quick and worked out really well on our return.Any parking recommendations for O'hare? Last time we parked in one of the airport owned parking lots and it was a disaster- took nearly an hour for the shuttle to pick us up. I swore never again.
5 new cards in the last 24 months means Chase will not approve you for pretty much anything. This is Chase specific and there have been some reports of it loosening on some co-brand cards.Trying to read and learn all the lingo in this thread. TRAVEL INSURANCE:
I have the CSP but haven't used it yet for travel since I got it. I never bought travel insurance when I had the CSR, but we are booking a cruise on our CSP and was curious if the trip insurance sold with booking would be redundant to what is already offered on the CSP.
Thanks!
Just wanted to add my PSA on trip insurance. I am a big advocate of buying trip medical insurance when traveling internationally. Here's our story:
My husband and niece were once hospitalized in Mexico. In order to even get out of the ambulance, the hospital required we put down a $4,000 deposit on our credit card. When we first arrived, I was pleased to see security at the entrance. That same security ensures you've paid your bill in full before you leave. During our hospital stay we met many American and Canadian families without insurance coverage who were facing bills in the tens of thousands of dollars. My husband (healthy man in his 30s) lost 20 lbs in a matter of about 10 days. This was a case of noro/roto virus which caused such illness- imagine if it was a heart attack, car injury, or something more? Upon returning to the U.S., he required multiple procedures and eventually a surgery to address a complication of the sickness he encountered (this portion was covered by our normal US group health insurance because we were in the US). Over the years, I’ve filed 3 claims with various travel insurance companies and it is ALWAYS a hassle, but I’ve always been glad to have the coverage.
My advice is to always know what your normal US health insurance covers while you are traveling. We ALWAYS buy a travel medical insurance policy and make sure that it is PRIMARY insurance. I try to buy one that has a primary benefit of at least $100,000 per person and a medevac benefit of $1m. I tend to use a site that offers multiple plans and allows you to see reviews. That site is blocked here but if you search for "compare & buy trip insurance" you'll likely find it.
While the CSR advertizes something like $10,000 coverage, the medical portion is something like $2,500 (at least that's what it looks like from a brief read through here). Even if it is 10,000, that won't cover a surgery, heart attack, etc.
Just my two cents...
Have you looked into buying it flat rate for the year i almost did it this year but i didn't.Just wanted to add my PSA on trip insurance. I am a big advocate of buying trip medical insurance when traveling internationally. Here's our story:

from what i remember it wasnt a good value at all like .6 cents a point. im not sure on the new portal.Does anyone know if you can still purchase Universal Orlando and/or SeaWorld tickets using Chase Points? I have been searching the portal and cannot find it. Thanks in advance!!
I recently applied for a Hilton Amex card (the application popped up when booking a room directly on the Hilton website).
I got an instant message saying that I did not qualify for the bonus sign-up, did I wish to proceed with the application. I declined.
My only sign-up bonus ever with AMEX was on a delta card.
Why would I be denied the bonus sign-up on a Hilton card?
Thanks for any insight!
From what you describe it may be Amex pop up jail. Here's an article explaining it and how it's possible to get out. Also, good to try different public offers, incognito modes, support offers- people have had success that way. I see DPs that taking an upgrade on a current card often gets people out of pop up jail.I recently applied for a Hilton Amex card (the application popped up when booking a room directly on the Hilton website).
