Disney's POP CENTURY RESORT Information & Questions

I know Wi-Fi signals are terrible but how have the phone data signals been? Has anyone been able to get 5G? I have Verizon service fwiw.

We had no phone signal (Verizon) in our room on our last trip (building 10, room 124). That's the only time I recall having issues at Pop.

I have Verizon myself. I turn off my wifi when I'm at Disney and function entirely on data. I never had a problem during either my Thanksgiving Trip or my trip at the end of January.

I have Verizon 5G and had pretty dreadful service in my room in January, building 7 if I remember. It worked, but it was really slow. No issues in the parks. I had lightning fast speeds last weekend in my room at All Star Movies.

We just got back yesterday. I know there's always questions about the Skyliner at RD so I figured I'd share our experience.

On Saturday we were headed to DHS for RD, but NOT for SDD or RotR. We made our 7am selection in the room, then stopped in the food court for a Diet Coke, then got to the Skyliner about 7:15am with NO line at all. There was a very short line at the transfer station. We walked easily thru security and into the park with a short line in front of us. We were people 4&5 in line for RnRC, could have been about #20, 21 for ToT at about 7:45am.

Just a quick update bc I know many are curious about Skyliner and bus lines so I was going to share my experiences. Only stayed one night there this trip but I was very pleased with both transportations. Saturday night leaving HS we walked out at 9:15 and walked right on the skyliner and maybe a 2-3 minute wait at the transfer station. That might be normal at park closing but I wasn’t sure what to expect. The next morning Sun, March 6 we got to the POP bus stop at 7:20 and the que was filled but we were able to get in the last 15-20 spots for standing on a double bus. We got to security and the tapstiles before they opened and could have roped dropped anything we wanted. We took several pics in front of the castle and opted for Space. This was a random low crowd day, crowd levels of 6 but I hope it helps someone!

We just got back after spending four nights at Pop. I wanted to come here and post our experience because some may recall I was hesitant to select Pop in the first place because we are use to staying in higher end hotels/resorts with amenities such as indoor corridors, room service, etc. We were having trouble deciding between Pop and Swan - in the end we chose Pop because it was $900 cheaper, and we are SO GLAD we did! We really enjoyed staying at Pop! (I had stayed there one night on a previous trip with a friend and my young daughter) We reserved a Preferred Pool View and were in Building 6, second floor, right at the Hippy Dippy Pool. The room location was fantastic. Disney has done a fabulous job with the room remodels - they are very well done. LOTS of terrific storage all around the room but mostly in the bathroom area. Beds were comfortable, the coffee/fridge console was great, a pretty great room overall.

The cons, in my opinion:
Like in many value and mod resorts, you can hear toilets in other rooms being flushed

There is only one sink and one main mirror which made it a bit tough to get ready and apply make-up and style hair for me and our teen daughter. There is another longer mirror on the bathroom door but it is still in the same bathroom area so not as user friendly as having a mirror in the other part of the room like there are in so many other hotel rooms. We made it work.

The location next to the pool was terrific but there is LOTS of noise that comes into the room - music from the pool area and guest noise from people enjoying the pool, and guests walking past and talking - you will hear all of that right in your room so it is something to keep in mind if you book that room category. We still would not hesitate to book that location again, though.

Skyliner. Our experience may not be the norm. On Monday night, there was a storm brewing while we were at Epcot. As we approached Skyliner it started sprinkling. Once we were on Skyliner, it started pouring. I mean pouring. When we pulled into the CBR station, the CM said they were shutting it down due to lightening. We got into the line for Pop and the entire queue was filled and then some. After waiting several minutes, my DH asked a CM what was happening. She indicated that soon a CM would be coming by with a clipboard to ask guests how many people in their party so that they knew how many buses to send because they did not anticipate starting up Skyliner again. We knew that process would take forever so we asked where we could go for a Lyft which turned out to be a parking lot across the street. We went down the ramp in pouring rain and across the street and waited for our Lyft. It was raining so hard the windshield wipers on the Lyft car were not doing a thing. We arrived back at Pop to flooding near Petals. Once in our room we had to quickly figure out how to dry our only pair of park shoes for the next morning. We were sure that as we were dry and changed into cuddly clothes that guests were still waiting around for a bus to show up to bring them back to Pop!

Here is the thing. Disney is supposedly the most data driven company and they wanted to send a CM around with a clipboard to count people! Why not initiate a Code Skyliner and know in advance how many buses to send based on how full the queues are or turn on their cameras and do a quick virtual count based on what they see in the control room. We are floored that Disney does not have a better process in place for this type of closure.

On Wednesday morning we took Skyliner to HS and back and really, really liked it. Yes there was a long line to get to HS but it kept moving and we did not wait long. Being in a line that is moving is a lot better than standing in a bus queue where you are wondering when a bus will show up, if you'll get on, etc.

So, all of this to say that Skyliner is great if there are no hiccups. If there are issues, it can be pretty dismal. So I would say that choosing a resort to be able to be on the Skyliner route is a bit dicey based on what we just experienced.

Someone here recently stated they feel Pop is an amazing resort for a couple. I would agree with that. I can totally envision DH and I staying there again just the two of us and keeping the wall bed up and enjoying that extra space in the room and it would be easier for only one person to get ready in the bathroom area vs. two.

I am happy to answer any questions about Pop! I appreciate everyone's help prior to our trip!

Does anyone know if there is transport to the winter summer land mini golf right now, with blizzard beach being closed? Is it still a transfer at DAK?

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. My DH and I are staying at POP for four nights in April. We only stayed here for one night on a previous trip and we weren’t fans, but since this is a short trip to see our sons perform in the Magic Kingdom with their marching band, we wanted to keep this trip as cheap as possible while staying onsite. I have to admit, I have reservations about our stay, but your post makes me feel better.

While the rooms are small, I do think they will be perfect for DH and I.

I’m glad you had a great trip!

Since it is just the two of you, I believe you will be impressed with the size of the room. I know my DH and I were happy with it when we stayed for the first time last month. It was nicely done and we felt it was much roomier than we expected.

Thank you! I can see from your signature line that you've enjoyed stays at the Beach Club, Poly, etc. This is not that! We love those resorts also. But, we were in the parks more on this trip than ever before - so, like a park vacation, not a resort-centric vacation. We normally spend a lot more time at the resort but knew we wouldn't be doing that on this trip. I just love that there are so many choices for everyone! I think you will really enjoy the rooms better since the remodel. I am excited for you as our daughter is also a musician and watching her perform is such a blessing. Such special memories for your family! Have an amazing trip!

Yes, we are a deluxe family and usually spend a lot of time at the resorts, but this trip we will be in the parks from open to close so we didn’t want to spend the extra money for a deluxe. I do like the look of the new rooms and we love the Skyliner so I’m hoping POP will be a pleasant surprise for us, but we do realize that POP isn’t a deluxe and we're okay with that.

Hello everybody!

This May my family and I are going to Disney world for six days. We fly in on a Sunday and leave Saturday. However we're not all staying at Pop. My family will be at AoA while my boyfriend and I are staying at Pop.

Sunday is not a park day. Since we're flying in early we're planning to spend the day at Disney Springs or exploring the other resorts. For check in. I saw the time was at 3 p.m. However is it possible to get the room earlier than that? I guess it depends how many people check out on Sunday.

I haven't been to DW in 26 years. I was six years old! Lol So this whole process is new to me. I understand they will hold your luggage. Is that service free?

You might be able to get a room earlier than that. If you do online check-in, you can click the button that says prioritize my room being ready early. If you show up to the resort and still haven't gotten a your room is ready text or email, you can go to the front desk and ask if there are any available. They will hold your luggage for you at no charge. Have fun!

I'm really surprised to see recent positive reviews. We stayed at Pop for 2 days on our last trip and it was the absolute worst experience we've ever had at a Disney resort. (In fact, I'm only on the Dis now, looking for the guest services email). Rant following

Our room was not ready until 8:30pm. None of our MB's unlocked the door (so I used the app) It was "upgraded" to a pool view. I booked standard intentionally in the hopes of being away from the noisier parts of the resort. Instead, there was cheerleading practice at the pool when we finally got to our room. I went to the front desk to request a different room, waited in the line for 30 minutes, and they couldn't find our reservation (well, we already have a room, so...?). Found the reservation, but had to call a manager to see if we could switch. No other rooms available, but we could ask again in the morning, if we still wanted to change. The CM at the desk said she'd at least fix the MBs while we were there. 2 hours later, I'm still at the front desk and the MBs still aren't fixed. I kept telling her, it didn't matter, but she wouldn't give them back! I kept trying to explain that the noise was an issue because we wanted to get to bed early and it was now after 11pm, so I'd really like to go back to my lousy room and get a little sleep.
She finally decides that she can just issue plastic key cards and then couldn't get them to code correctly- it took three people and another 40 minutes. Then she asked if I wanted teens to have charging privileges. They already did, so, yes, please keep them on (Guess who couldn't make any purchases the next day?!) By this time, the line of disgruntled quests is spilling out of the queue in the lobby (at midnight!). Now the CM really did try and I know she was trying to make it better, so I don't fault her for it. No managers ever materialized to deal with any of it.
I finally got back to the room. The pool was closed, so cheerleading practice had ended, but it was still not what I would call quiet. Then I realized there weren't enough towels or coffee and had to call housekeeping.
We had another Pop reservation from 3/25 to 3/30 and I cancelled. The whole family was in agreement that an offsite Motel 6 would have been better than staying at Pop again. If this had been our first Disney resort, it would have also been our last.
