If you're still covid cautious and cruised recently, how did you feel?

On the magic now. If you are worried about Covid not sure a cruise is a great choice. Dining room is back to full capacity. Shows every seat is full. Crew is all masked but no one else is.

Yes everyone tested in port but you self swabbed and the people weren’t watching you do it. It would be very easy to not do test correctly.

First off for poster, you do you.
You me and my wife still wear masks in public. Reason being is my wife is you could say severe immune compromised but we both have all shots and boosters.

For people that don’t want to wear masks. Please you do you/ what makes goy
Comfortable.
I do have a question about has anybody seen any negative frowns or faces because you wearing a mask.
Wife experienced a grumpy individual. Who is smiling/no expression before looked at wife and got visibly upset.
(Next I’m going to get angry individual because I wear basketball shoes lol)

We are going on the wonder in September have no issue with it and most likely will be wearing our masks except for dining.

As for this
“ If you are worried about Covid not sure a cruise is a great choice.”

We all need to remember that right now we get a yearly flu shot (by choice of course ) yes every year we get a flu virus that goes around and mutates every year. Need to remember that we have this now, the yearly flu thanks to the last epidemic of Spanish flu.

So COVID is not going away and we as individually just need to deal with it, of course in our own way. It is just sad that I do not get upset as I see other not wearing a mask but some do get mad at us for wearing a mask

(Sadly I am aware that there are some people that will get mad at others for not wearing a mask, for them I say Tisk tisk as well lol)

You do whatever makes you feel comfortable! While I am choosing not to wear a mask my teenage daughter likes to wear hers. If you prefer to skip the main dining rooms you can def get food on the pool deck or via room service and dine in your room. :) I am seeing reports that they are still sitting diners alone and not with strangers. But that may change at any time as the normal procedure is to assign tablemates. I hope you have a great cruise.
Thanks, yeah we'll definitely still wear our masks inside. We sail in a couple weeks and reading reports from those who have gotten off the ships recently has me a little unsure. Mostly for dining I guess as we haven't gone back to eating inside restaurants at home yet. I guess we'll see how it goes!
Same here, like both of you. (That includes the pre-teen daughter who wants to wear her mask no matter what). The safety measures that are in place are helpful, and I hope they will be unchanged in 34 (?) days! We will all be up to date on boosters, and if boosters become available for ages 5-11 - those as well. I'm glad that most things will be back to normal. Nonetheless we've never shared a table with others in 16+ years of cruising, so not worried about that. We've befriended our table neighbors several times, and tables used to be extremely close, so I do wonder about the spacing, but if we feel terribly uncomfortable I have no issues switching to room and poolside service. As far as the elevators, we've loved to take the stairs in the past, especially with all the food and very active kids. Movies and theaters were still masked last time I checked? Not sure if seating will be spaced apart? Overall though, if they hold to the current safety measures, I think we will be comfortable.

I believe I read in one of the posts from someone who sailed recently that masks are no longer required in the theater and they're back to filling every seat. Maybe someone can confirm.

Yup you are correct. Masks only have to be worn in the terminal now. And all the time for those 5 and under (who aren't vaccinated).

Just got off Fantasy over weekend. I was a bit apprehensive the whole cruise but relaxed
more and more. Def more people than when we went last year. I put on a mask always in
the theatre but no one else in my family did.

Also we went to Disney World a few days afterwards and frankly with the amount of people there
I wanted to run back on the ship.

We cruised in February 2022. four night cruise out of New Orleans on the Wonder. We were not anxious about anything. Masks were still required but not enforced. We wore our mask in the Theatre but took it off in the lounges because we usually had a drink/food. We were spaced out quite a bit also- but our ship was not at capacity.

I would not hesitate to cruise again. We had a wonderful time and even won the Frozen trivia :)

I'm so glad you posted this because I have my concerns too! We planned this for August 2020 and it's been pushed back to finally going this year. At first, I felt comfortable with all the restrictions, then I was wishing masks would be a thing of the past, and now they are, and now I'm feeling a bit conflicted! But, I think my family will wear a mask in the theaters, most likely. I say that now, but we still have 115 more days to go. Anything can change!

Glad you asked this! We have been toying with going on a cruise as well this summer. We have only recently stopped wearing masks in stores or for DDs school but still haven’t been in any crowded areas unmasked. We have been to Disney twice since masks dropped in Feb but we chose to wore ours inside since it was jammed pack and there were so many people coughing and sneezing (totally could be allergies or chronic bronchitis, but I don’t know that, all I hear is someone hacking up a lung). We did do 2 inside dining reservations because I’m trying to force myself to get back into things. It’s hard but I need to push myself, and I’m glad we did them. I think I would be ok if they still have the testing and vaccine protocols in place, but I am a bit worried they will drop them after we book and then I’m not sure if I would feel as good being with the same people for a week in close quarters. Also potentially having to share a table with others for meals is not as great as having a private table for me.

We sail in June and the only thing that has me wary is the distance between tables in the dining room. Everywhere else, I can choose to wear my mask (and will). I will see how things are going in 2 months and decide how I approach it. I'm also on a Celebrity cruise board (we are sailing Celebrity for the first time this summer to Alaska) and there are so many passengers reporting getting covid on a few recent cruises. It has me uneasy. All I can do is wear my mask and decide what I'm comfortable with when I get on board.

We just cruised on the Wonder. The immunization and port testing requirements made this worth considering for us. Once you get to the the terminal, you are as protected as you can be in an area with a crowd.

It felt like they tried to space out travel groups in the dining rooms. We were part of probably 10% of people masked. The port adventures in Mexico required masking, but you can control your non-cruise member exposure.

Our family was definitely on the cautious side and made significant modifications to our daily lives to prevent getting sick until our kids were vaccinated. And then, what did we do right out of the gates? We booked a cruise of all things! Ha. We were on the Dream at the end of March (mask rule just lifted). What I liked about it is that - yes - everyone tests before they get on the ship and there is a sense of comfort that first night knowing that perhaps the testing control is catching the majority of sickness at the port. So after testing to get into the US, wearing masks at the airports, N95s on the plane, you hop onto a ship and dive right into a buffet with 2500 of your closest strangers after a couple of years of...well...not. Our last trip was Hawaii Feb 2020, and luaus and buffets right before the lockdowns. And then dinner inside a restaurant (indoors)! Almost forgot what that was like. That first couple of hours was strange. A little hesitancy. But it subsided. And then we got off the ship for the last couple hours in Nassau and became acutely aware that the people who tested yesterday to get on the ship can roam freely and hang out at the bar in Nassau for the day, then get back on the ship. Then you just have to let it go (as Elsa would say), and enjoy your vacation. Kids running around in the kids club and tweener club with strangers, when days before that they were in class with masks on with their buds they've been going to school with since kindergarten (masking recommended but not mandated where I Iive - probably 50/50 here). It was certainly a new-new normal! I have been on the ships before, and I have to say that I do like the ship at 2400 passengers vs. a full ship. I don't mind anything they have done to encourage distancing or thinning out the crowd.

One night, watching the show in the theatre - one guy, about 5 rows up, was hacking up a lung and had his mask down around his neck. He stayed until the end of the show. No one beside him decided to leave. That was the first public space I had been in with many people for a length of time, and my awareness for that kind of stuff is definitely heightened. And then we made the trip to Universal and IOA a few days after that - and the cruise was nothing compared to standing in line for Hagrid's for an hour+ with people on all sides coughing and wiping their mucus with their hands, not covering their mouths, or using their sleeves as kleenex. Pretty sure we were one of only a couple families in line with masks on as we navigated the dingy queue.

One of my kids did catch a cold on the vacation. Who from, you ask? Who knows. Likely the guy behind us in line for Hagrid's who seemed to have zero issues about being sick. But my kid swears by his decision to go on the vacation and that it was worth it to miss an additional week of school on either end.

And even after all of my write up bringing those realities to your attention, pretty sure the pros outweighed the cons as we have those memories stored in the banks now. This was the first cruise we have done with the kids, and they loved it. Had we gotten (a serious bout of) covid on the trip, I wonder if any of us would feel differently. I guess, like all of it, you have to ask yourself what's the cost benefit.

My family has stayed very Covid aware during the pandemic, primarily following CDC guidelines. We decided last minute to schedule a cruise on the Dream 4/1 - 4/4, which ironically coincided with Disney relaxing their mask policy on board the ship. I would also estimate that the ship was maybe 50-75% of capacity and we saw staff constantly cleaning every visible surface throughout the day and night. I never felt unsafe, and quite frankly, was more worried about our airline flights.

We did opt to forego our masks when walking through the ship for the most part, but always had them in our possession in case we ever felt that our health was compromised. But we never felt compromised. We did continue deliberate efforts to wash our hands incessantly, but Disney already does a great job of making sure you do that prior to and even after meals.

The had brought back the buffet in Cabana's where everything was also back to self-service. We were initially concerned, but we also noticed staff were at each station to provide service if needed.

All in all, it was really a neat and fun experience to be back on the ship where masks were initially required and then were made optional before we ever left port it seemed. Even with the changes we experienced, we felt safe and healthy...and it appeared that Dream staff continued their cleaning procedures as if nothing had changed. Add in the fact that the typical Nassau day had been replaced with a sea day (with amazing weather) and this turned out to be one of our favorite trips.

Now we only have another 150 days until we hop on the Disney Wish in September!

I was on a cruise last week (not DCL). Very few passengers wore masks. The crew did, but they wore cloth masks and those aren't supposed to be very effective. I did not have an issue with it, though. Almost everyone was vaccinated and everybody had to get tested. None of our crew members disappeared to go into quarantine. The ship was about 75% capacity.

There are ways to be very covid conscious on a cruise - wear masks wherever you feel you need to, have a stateroom with a balcony and spend your time there, eat on deck or room service, watch the shows in your stateroom on the TV instead of going to the theater, wait to disembark or board until the crowds have passed - not sure how enjoyable a cruise that would be.

Not cruising DCL but when DW and I leave the Cabin masks are on inside or outside unless no one is near. WASHY - WASHY constantly when walking around and only when seated in lounge or restaurant are masks off. Two more cruises this year and 1 next year so far and OUR MASK WEARING PROTOCOL will not change.

Just got off a cruise. It was weird that all of the CMs were masked but 98% of the guests were not. Other than that, I'd say I felt pretty comfortable and generally I've been very cautious. I think that the boats not being at full capacity helps.

I was and still am very cautious…we wear masks whenever we are indoors with strangers, almost all kids at DD’s school wear masks (even though not required), almost never do indoor dining, etc. I was on the Wonder 4/3 cruise which I think was the first Wonder cruise to not require masks anywhere except the terminal. We wore masks almost every time we were indoors and I think we saw 2 other families on the cruise who did the same lol. We felt perfectly safe with our KN95 masks even though no one else was masked.

We also felt OK eating in the dining rooms because cases were the lowest they had been since Omicron, everyone was tested, and everyone 5 and up was vaccinated. I honestly wasn’t worried at all at any time. If we were in the middle of a surge I might have felt differently.
We were on this same cruise. I tested positive for covid on 4/10, two days after returning home (I live near the port so no flying). I too have been very cautious and felt uncomfortable with all the sudden changes. I think we may have been one of the families you saw with a mask on the whole time except outside. Anyway, at least 6 other people tested positive during and after this cruise. So I would say just do what you think is best. I tried my best and still could not avoid it, which was terribly upsetting after two years of avoidance. Everything on the 4/3 ship and onwards is back as if there is no covid aside from testing and vaccine requirements.

No masks for anyone except under 5 in kids club and the boutique. No spacing. Everyone can get off the ship including under 5 unvaccinated and do not need to be on DCL excursion.

Oh no so sorry to hear you are sick. How are you feeling?
Were the 6 people all your family or fellow cruisers?
Hope everyone recovers quickly.

Thank you for asking! I am better now this week. Then developed a sinus infection due to covid. I am on the mend slowly. No one else in my family thankfully. One other family had three infections and another one had three infections. I am sure there are others. Everyone was on this cruise.
