SHADES OF GREEN at Walt Disney World Resort Information & Questions

Yes - Shades of Green is listed on the WDW website of "select resorts" that get the extra evening hours.

We did it last week.
How do they verify that you are staying at there? When we traveled last we just showed our room key, is it different now?

You can add your Shades of Green reservation to your MDE experience account and then they can scan your magic band and confirm for the early morning or extra evening hours.

I think as a backup you can show the "paper" pass they give you but that doesn't always indicate all names. We didn't try it.

Our experience was this...most times they just scanned ONE band at rides and asked how many. They did sometimes want to scan all bands at the rides during extra evening hours...which can be tricky if you haven't added every member of your group staying at Shades of Green to the reservation on MDE and it is NOT an easy thing to change if you didn't have the original Shades reservation right in the Disney system.

Example: booked Shades online as 2 Adults...by default it uses the person booking it as the Primary. If you book two rooms...you end up as Primary on both rooms when you add them to your MDE account. Therefore if there are 2 adults in the second room...you can't add both once you bring over the SOG reservation to MDE because you can pick and choose which people are in the room initially. You then can't change that later. It's very difficult to get somebody at Disney to change it...or was in our experience.

So I suggest if you book a room at Shades, make sure you add it to MDE and add all the people on it during that initial add or it can cause some issues.

Well my theory goes out the window....lol.

Is anyone having trouble having their SOG reservations stay linked in DME?

I intentionally didn't add ours until I knew I wouldn't be tinkering with any more dates since historically that has caused me problems in MDE.

Sometime this week it fell off even though I didn't edit my SOG reservation and MDE won't let me add it back on. Wondering if this is a temporary hiccup or if it's specific to my account?

My reservation is still in MDE. Our trip is the first week in September. We did make a reservation change two weeks ago after I had already linked it.

Thanks for sharing, I wasn't sure if it was our account or a widespread issue.

We ended up calling Disney IT and they seemed to indicate that because SOG reservation was in DH's name but I was doing the planning that might have been why (I did link it from my account, but I always do?)

They said they were also putting a note in there with my name so it shouldn't fall off again. This was also the first time I wasn't able to add it back on MDE.

Our trip is in a few weeks, so fingers crossed!

Oh I see, there IS but itty bitty.
it’s a $2.75 discount for my date 😂😖

In all seriousness though, it was more of a discount in 2019, wasn't it? (I don't know about before that year since that was our first and only party)

Farther back, so grain of salt and all that, but in 2016 we had a 10$ discount I’m pretty sure.

I guess that’s what I expected and was hoping to save 110$ for my party of 11. But you know. 30$ is ok too 😕

Yeah that's significant :/. We only have 2 going this year.
I didn't realize years past they offered a lot bigger of a discount.

Yeah pretty pathetic. I looked it up. because I was pretty shocked and the last. party it wasa $15 discount and the one before that (2018) was over $20/person...sad.
