No the Magic isn’t gone but it’s at 25%

Yeah, with ticket prices the way they are, you pretty much have to spend most of the day at the parks to justify those prices.

I really wish Disney would offer an “after 5 pm” ticket.

It would would help spread out crowds.
They offer an "after 1 PM" and an "after 5 PM" single-day ticket to convention and meeting attendees. The after 1 PM ticket is over $100 before tax. The after 5 PM ticket comes in just a little bit better than a regular day ticket. I think it was around $75 before tax.

IMHO Disney needs more Gondola routes, and less buses. Disney Springs and Animal Kingdom additions to the Gondola system would be awesome , but I don’t know if it would be possible.
This will never happen in our lifetimes. Bob Chapek only cares about short term profits. Capital investments take a long time to pay off. This is the same reason why we will never see another gate, why future land expansions are unlikely to come, and why the only new things Disney builds these days are DVC towers, because those can quickly be sold off for a profit.

Obviously you can't please everyone. So no matter what type of skip the line system they use, not everyone will like it, BUT, Genie+ seems to have missed the mark for most people.
We used it one day at HS the week before Christmas (so busy), and we went back later that week (so busier) without it and we did about the same amount of attractions, but the
second day was much less stressful and we weren't constantly glued to our phones trying to get the next best LL. We also were more relaxed with our touring, stopping to shop, watch a show, get a drink etc. With
Genie+ we were on a strict schedule to get something done before our next LL, or we spent time sitting on a bench waiting for the LL time as we didn't want to walk away only to walk back.
I also noticed more guests and CM unhappy or disgruntled than ever before. WDW is a place to go and be happy, to escape the stresses of everyday life. I hope TPTB find their way back to that.
Sadly, it will have to get worse before it will get better. When people start complaining with their dollars spent elsewhere.
As DVC we are using our points and not going to the parks, spending time at the pools instead of shopping and eating in the parks etc. I have faith that it will get better, it will just take some time.

Sorry and another thing... what is up with the "50th anniversary celebration"???? What celebration?
All we saw was a few cute statues that are supposed to interact with new MBs that aren't available yet, subpar and poorly stocked merchandise to buy, new subpar food items to purchase,
nothing really celebratory at all. They missed the mark here too. I understand that the pandemic has thrown a wrench into things, but regroup and get it done. People are there, spending money, happy to support... don't crap on them and ask for more money.
Now is the time to up your game, give great customer service, celebrate the 50th and getting back to normal.

They redid the entire castle and put together an amazing fireworks display. They opened a new restaurant in Contemporary. They put together Harmonious in Epcot. Remy and Guardians were timed to open during the 50th. They wanted to open Tron, too, but that got delayed. We’ve been there twice during the 50th and found merchandise all over the place themed to the 50th. They’re coming out now with the Main Attraction collection, which is themed to classic rides.

Not sure what else exactly you want?

What makes it even worse is that Disneyland Paris recently began their 30th anniversary celebrations and they have WAY more effort put into it than WDW's 50th. At WDW you can hardly notice that a celebration is even happening. I get Covid probably had something to do with it but it's a major letdown.

To be honest, the two new fireworks shows were not good replacements of the ones that were already there, so I don't see them as part of the celebrations at all. The ride openings and restaurant rethemeings are a constant at WDW so I don't see those as 50th related. I just know that other Disney parks have done much better with their celebrations.

You not liking them doesn’t make them not part of the celebrations. My family loves them. It would be more helpful if you were specific about what you want WDW to do.

Was talking to a friend of mine and they haven't even been to WDW since it reopened but they were convinced that Genie+ was a disaster and hadn't even used it yet ...
Obviously everyone has different experiences and unique circumstances but I'm starting to think this is more of a self-fulfilling prophecy deal.

I’m going to guess you didn't experience Disneyland's 50th or 60th anniersaries? WDW probably didn't have 20% of the merchandise DLR had for their 60th. Good luck trying to catch some of this stuff online when it shows up. It's usually gone in minutes. Good luck even trying to buy anniversary ears or any t-shirts. Have they had them? Yes. Was it a PITA to find it when you were looking? Yes.

Same things with anniversary decor in the parks. Way too sparse.

How about an anniversary parade? How come DLR can celebrate the anniversary of a night parade, but apparently WDW can't even have one?

And Remy was slow walked to open during the 50th because they didn't have much else to offer. Not sure about Guardians, but maybe that one too.

And when people complained that Enchantment didn't have enough classic Disney, and zero Walt, they were told that wasn't even an anniversary show.

I get it that different people like different things... I just don't think they "celebrate" the 50th. So much hype and advertising but disappointing execution when you arrive. That's all. I was expecting more from Disney than the opportunity to purchase more things to celebrate.

Something like the Year Of A Million Dreams would've been nice. Unexpected magic during the day put a pep in your step.

They would've done most of the stuff listed above, anyway. Timing Remy and Guardians to open during the 50th is like having your birthday fall on Christmas. They cheaped out on the 50th IMHO.

There was no way they could have practiced a 50th parade due to COVID.

The stores at WDW are literally covered with 50th merchandise. Again, we’ve been to the parks twice during the 50th and there’s been tons and tons of merchandise.

Enchantment has tons of classic Disney. You just have to pay attention to the projections; it’s all over the show.

If there was more during a previous celebration, I have one thought for you: supply chain/worldwide event you might know about.

They did it during a few pretty significant constraints you might want to take into account.

The after hours events will be priced around $150+ now btw

We went at the end of April 2022 and barely noticed it was the 50th celebration at WDW. I think a lot of the problem is Disney used the 50th as a reason to upsell, not really celebrate. They totally ignored the prior 49 years.

As for Remy: "D23 Expo presentation that a duplicate of the ride would come to Epcot's France Pavilion at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida in 2020"

Indeed, much of the planned upgrades at Epcot were supposed to be done before the 50th celebration, but take a look at the park now and you'll see lots of construction happening and we are only 6 months away from the end of the 50th year celebration. Yes, I know, Covid, but that doesn't cover the fact that Disney allowed Epcot to become stale after not investing in it for 30 years.

I believe the goal is to reduce park attendance and they’re targeting low money makers like annual pass holders and families with young kids.

We go and enjoy the parks despite the changes, but they are no longer an ‘escape to the magic’ as they’ve been in the past.

This is my main issue with the 50th. It really doesn't feel like it's celebrating the history of WDW and is instead trying to sell you on the present day. Meanwhile from the videos I've seen to Paris's 30th, you can tell that there was a lot of effort put into celebrating that park's entire history rather than JUST sell merchandise. Yes I am aware that all celebrations like this are for selling merchandise but there needs to be more than that to get people excited, you know what I mean?

I agree. I remember reading a statistic a while back that one of the largest groups of people going to WDW and theme parks in general are adults without children. I think Disney is trying to appeal to this group in particular with all of the recent changes.

All I can say is that we’ve had a terrific time over our past 3 trips — Feb 2020, Nov 2021, and just last week. It’s unfortunate that Disney has failed the rest of you so significantly, but we’ve truly loved our time. We can’t wait to go back for our daughter’s 6th birthday in October.

This is exactly what’s missing. I’ve seen many CMs just shrug their shoulders to a question (navigation related). Pre pandemic even a custodial CM would go above and beyond to direct you.

I’m hopeful that things will change. I hope there are more kind CMs that are promoted vs the bullying enforcers.

Don’t forget to give a shout out to any CM who goes above and beyond (cast compliment is on the MDE main page)
