I don’t think anybody here is “demanding” anything or criticising just to “hate”. We all love the parks and have so many special memories at them but at the same time know that Disney could do better than the product that they’re currently putting out at the parks and that’s what people are constructively criticising and are trying to voice their disappointment over here. It’s not “complaining” just to hate. It’s not people just wanting “free stuff”. I personally couldn’t careless about how crowded or uncrowded the parks are or whether admission ticket prices go up or down or whether an outdated ride gets a new layover.
Disney management know they messed up with the 50th celebrations. The facts are there in the survey. You can look on Twitter at the comments under the official advertisements for the anniversary celebrations and see how many people are dissatisfied with what’s been put on for it. It’s perfectly fine if people feel like the 50th celebrations, Genie+ etc are enjoyable and working well for them but at the same time people can voice their disappointment with the way things are currently being handled and run at the parks themselves and it’s not “hating on just to hate on” or being demanding.
I didn't win a single thing during the YOAMD in the parks. But I do remember we had an absolutely fun filled magical trip. The merhandise was beautiful and abundant, I loved the chracters' themed costumes and the staff was out to make magical things happen. It didn't matter that we didn't "win" anything. It was a lovely tone and approach. When people on here are saying they want Year of a Million Dreams, then I can’t escape just thinking they want free stuff, since that’s what that was — it was a sweepstakes.

You know the thing is having seen those photos from MK on Memorial Day and matching up with what my experience was several weeks prior I totally get what people are saying. The experience people probably had with wait times was probably a much much better experience than mine and it was all on Disney's control. Both times were listed as at capacity with no park reservations available. And then looking at how my days felt at other parks where there were park reservations available but it felt different with high wait times. There were a heck of a lot more people in my MK days than whoever showed up on Memorial Day and I personally couldn't just say it's locals no-showing.I agree, i was more referring to people who keep demanding that Disney tamp down crowd numbers so that they can have a more enjoyable time. which is never going to willingly happen on Disneys end. Obviously if everyone all of a sudden hates Disney all bets are off
I do too. But good luck getting a photo with any of them. Mickey is about it. We have photos with all the characters in YOAMD costumes. We did get photos with Mickey on this trip, but Minnie only appeared in her red dot dress at Epcot and her Red Carpet dress at DHS. Why on earth was there not even a distanced photo op with her in that adorable 50th dress? I don't think you can meet any (except Mickey) in their 50th costumes even today.I love the characters’ themed costumes for the 50th. I think it’s a beautiful motif and I love how they coordinated the costumes with the castle.
Did you even experience it? Because as I said in an earlier post, it wasn’t just being given free stuff. There was an emphasis put on the park’s history. “Remembering the Magic” actually had heart to it compared to “The Magic Is Calling”. They did a lot more for it than just “hand magic out” to people for free. When people on here are saying they want Year of a Million Dreams, then I can’t escape just thinking they want free stuff, since that’s what that was — it was a sweepstakes.

Ok then. There’s always something to complain about, I guess.
Not sure why you started your sentence with "no" when it seems we agree.No. What it comes down to is that Disney chooses not to add attraction capacity at the same rate they choose to add guests. And it is a choice. They set the daily caps. And they decide if/when to add things. It's 100% Disney's choice. All of it.
I've seen the video. I think saying you can't add enough attractions is a cop out. They have managed to do it at DLR. Similar number of attractions in 2 parks as WDW has in 4. And that is the greatest reason MP and G+ have worked better there. Not sure why you started your sentence with "no" when nothing you typed contradicted my statement.
None of these virtual queueing systems is going to make people happy because it's a capacity issue. There is not enough capacity to meet demand.
Side note - that video does a good job of showing how adding new rides doesn't really help the issue because it increases demand. The only ways to really help it are to increase capacity at existing attractions (like TSMM 3rd track, Soarin 3rd screen) or limit daily attendance as some have suggested and which Disney is dabbling in with the park reservation system.
I get that people have personal preferences that they would have liked to have seen with the 50th, and i agree it is overall underwhelming (although i give them a pass because of the pandemic). it's the forcefulness that people come across with that i take exception to, it's sometimes comes off as being offended that Disney didn't know what you specifically wanted, and because of that you are offended.Did you even experience it? I think you are understating that WDW is more of a destination then DL. i think the numbers say that WDW is 20% recurring guests, and DL is something like 80% recurring guests. Frequency drives down expectations, which could play a big role in why it works better at DL. I just don't think it's as simple as you've laid outI've seen the video. And it very much depends on the type of attractions that are added. They are intentionally going for the flashy sort to draw in more people, while making capacity on those attractions a lower priority. They need some major people eater type attractions added at the non MK parks. It seems a daunting proposition at this point becuase they are so woefully behind after years of opening things with lower capacity only after closing other attractions years prior.

Disney is extremely special to a lot of people, especially on these boards, but i think there are many whos expectation are out of whack, and when you really boil down everything it's not all that offensive at all
hey now them fightin' wordsI think there's a reason they got rid of Ellens energy adventure haha
Actually it works out the opposite in reality. Those frequently visiting locals at DLR hold Disney's feet to the fire. As such, Disney seems to care more about what they present there.I think you are understating that WDW is more of a destination then DL. i think the numbers say that WDW is 20% recurring guests, and DL is something like 80% recurring guests. Would you rather them make dull rides just to fill the hole? I think there's a reason they got rid of Ellens energy adventure haha
Careful you're straying into the "too negative" camp on this threadRight. It’s like they want Disney to act without constraints, despite a pandemic—the effects of which are still being felt when it comes to hiring, supply chain, etc—and they want Disney to know what they want when it comes to castle projections, merch, marketing promotions, etc.
We found that.Yea we rope drop and take midday breaks which is why Genie plus is a waste of money.
I disagree, most people did not want Max Pass at DL, and here we are.Actually it works out the opposite in reality. Those frequently visiting locals at DLR hold Disney's feet to the fire. As such, Disney seems to care more about what they present there.
And nobody said higher capacity attractions have to be dull.
They don't need rides that don't draw in new guests. Just rides that offer larger capacity going forward. Any new ride is going to have a hot period where it draws in tons of people. That eventually settles down once most have had a chance to experience it. But capacity considerations need to be a top priority right now, especially after years of not adding enough net new attractions.I disagree, most people did not want Max Pass at DL, and here we are.
rides that don't draw in new guests would be considered inherently dull, (lacking interest or excitement)
