Is there anyway to book Amtrak tickets through the UR portal? I looked and didn't see anything, but thought I might be missing something, so wanted to be sure.

We're looking at doing the train between Denver and San Francisco. We've never done anything like it before, so thought we might try it.
I've been researching Amtrak too - this is not what you asked but I have 10% offers on 2 chase cards.

Update on paying DD's tuition with credit cards. I am one who pretty much believes it's always worth the credit card processing fee and try to time approvals/MSRs for tuition (and other large purchases).

This year, thankfully, her bill was less (she moved off campus) but I was still able to maximize rewards for me, despite the 2.85% fee.

Bill-$17,700

CIC-$7500-> 82,500 URs
CIU-$7500-> 86,250 URs

Barclay AA card-$2000-> 82,000 AA miles

BBP AU $700 -> finished $200 off $2000

fee (total)-$504.45

points/cash generated
168750 UR (or $1687.50)

$70 (*sticklers might state the entire $200 of the AU bonus wasn't earned so since it was 10% back I assigned a value of $70)

82000 AA points (this value will vary depending on whose reasonable redemption you trust...The Frequent Miler says 1.3 cpp, TPG (ugh) says 1.7 cpp)

Ignoring the AA miles, subtracting the processing fees from the cash total netted me $1253.05 AND more than enough AA miles to fly DD home for Christmas (of course as a good planner, I've already made those arrangements but for illustrative purposes I could do this).

I always enjoy the discussion regarding convenience fees but have always found that if I plan well, I come out ahead.

I do miss Jenn (WVMomof3:angel:) because she and I would debate this almost endlessly. Thinking of you my friend😢

Does anyone have any tips or tricks regarding using the $50 hotel credit on the CSP? I just realized we have one that expires in December. I hate to not use it but it doesn't seem easy to use.

I'm 40 don't doxx me never passed

43 and I'm at 828 though it'll go back up to the 830 it was at last month soon. Hard pull dropped it I imagine. When I started churning I was mid 700s. I do have 2 cards that are over 20 and over 15 that I won't cancel. Also only have my stud loan since the mortgage is gone. (And yes I know but the interest is low and my payments have never been bad. Also had other priorities but pay extra.)

Really don't need the cr to be higher. Once it gets in the excellent range going higher isn't really going to help.

I agree completely.

I'm at 8 hard pulls and still 808. 16 open accounts, 1% utilization. I'm 33 and have peaked at 818.

Once you've gotten what I'd call a "bulletproof" credit profile, worrying about hard inquires to inflate the score is unnecessary stress. There's nothing an 850 gets that an 805 can't.

Well I had booked it and DH saw it and said it to was too tight since we will be checking luggage. So 5 pm it is. What fun sitting around the airport all day.
Just give him a dirty look when you are at the airport with your bags checked by 10:30 AM:)

When we were in Barcelona, I booked a 12:30 flight to London. We had late breakfast, didn't rush through it, and were still at the airport (which is only maybe 30 minutes away so a lot closer than PC to MCO) by 9:30 AM. We were at the gate by 10:00 AM and there were two earlier flights on Vueling we could have made. And of course our 12:30 flight was delayed two hours.

I just logged into Credit Karma and I'm at 813/817. My sister and I laugh because after my divorce my dad cosigned when I had my house refinanced and they pulled his credit and his credit score was lower than mine. And his net worth is many, many times what mine is. But no mortgage or car loan for decades and just a few credit cards. He was so offended.

How do you all use up every cent on Visa Gift Cards you buy? I still have one from several years ago which has something like $13.62 left on it.

No tips, but I tried to use mine a few weeks ago. I found the same room on the hotel website for less than the Chase portal, so I didn't use the CSP credit.
