Any idea why a Disney gift card would be placed on a temporary hold??? Trying to pay off my room and couldn’t get balance on the card. Called the gift card line and that’s what I’m told…there’s several hundred on this card so I’m really nervous! They told me to send an email but I haven’t heard back.
That’s not ok. What I would do:

1. Give it a half a day to a full day (unless your payment is due today) for their crap IT to straighten up.
Then..
2. Check the card on Disney GC site to confirm balance (this will also confirm they didn’t process the payment)
3. Try payment again. If website doesn’t work, try calling.
4. Call Disney GC if card is still bad. Do not accept that they have placed a temporary hold, insist on more information. Start working your way up the chain of command. Disney owes you access to your money.

Reasons a temp hold can happen
-newly bought card, back in the day sometimes they took a few hours to activate
-fraud, did you buy a GC from someplace that wasn’t a major retailer? If it was stolen and you loaded the funds onto your card the entire card balance will be frozen until Fraud completes an investigation
-IT. Their IT is absolutely crap. We used to play a game during Covid when stuff would pop up on the Disney website and we were watching for re-opening news: News or IT Fail? Nothing has changed.

What would be the best thing to do or is it worth it to us to add this card to our pile? I just don’t want to get it if we wouldn’t maximize its benefits with our limited flying each year and want to make sure if we do get it, the AF is worth paying. I certainly don’t like to waste my money and I hardly ever cancel a credit card as you can see, because some of them haven’t been used once in years and years. I’d like to hear from the experts please !!!
Umm... we always believe credit card fees are worth it. You would be blown away to see how much some of us spend on credit card fees. The benefits usually outweigh the annual fee.
If you can wait until after October to open 2 SW cards you can easily earn the CP. You don't need to open a business card to earn the CP, you can do it with 2 personal cards but if your goal is the CP with 2 personal cards I wouldn't apply for any Chase cards until it's time to apply for the 2 SW cards.

You don't need to cancel any of your current cards, since they don't have an AF. We usually only close cards with annual fees.

I added P2 and P3 to my Venture X so they would have access Priority Pass lounges and other lounges. I can't seem to find how to get them Priority Pass membership cards--either digital or physical. The PP terms indicate you need to show a member card to enter the lounge. Do I give them access/screenshot of my member card, or register them separately as PP members?

Answering my own question in case anyone else needs to do this. I ended up calling Capital One for the answer.

In order for authorized users on Venture X to enroll as members of Priority Pass Lounges and get their own membership card, they need to visit a specific link. It's prioritypass dot com/capitalone
After navigating to the correct site, it was quick and easy to sign up. Just need the Venture X card number as each is unique.

Thanks! I called again and asked for a supervisor. He said it’s flagged for fraud. I’ve been using this card since my last trip (November 2021). I’ve added gift cards onto it. I’ve only ever bought cards from Disney online, CVS, Office Depot/Max. Without looking at a history of the balance I have no way of possibly knowing which retailers were added onto this card…
I have a second card that I also added cards onto and I immediately called and put that money onto my reservation.
If I don’t hear back by tomorrow, I guess I will try calling again although they said they can’t do anything on the phone!

@FreeDiningFanatic did you notice both deals from thrifty traveler premium? both were good I'm shocked so far and it hasn't been 24 hours :) i would have pulled the trigger if it was octoberfest.
Yes, impressed. Two alerts in the past 24 hours, both biz class points alerts for 50k OW. I also like how the alert tells you which currencies transfer to that program as well as the taxes/fees, plus lists out the cancellation/change policy. It's almost like hitting the easy button, lol.

Does it also tell you how many award seat are available?

To maximize the benefit of the companion pass, it is best to try and meet the spend as early as possible in 2023. This would give you the CP for the rest of 2023 and all of 2024!
To achieve this, it is recommended that you apply later this fall (late Oct-Dec). Typically, there has been a decent SUB to get you started on the CP. Big caution is DO NOT meet the spend before your December statement closes! Otherwise, those points will become 2022 points.
I am not well versed in the double dip (to try and get 2 personal cards).
In our house, we alternate CP for Player 1 for two years and then CP for Player 2 for 2 years. Has worked out great for the last 6 years!
Thanks. I did see that previously about making sure the SUB isn't met until the Jan statement. I really don't know why we always add each other as an authorized user, I am fairly new to this thread, but I am learning so much. I see now that we need to stop adding each other as users and start referring each other to their own account instead.

Researching on DISboards about purchasing DVC in May is what lead me to this thread and that's why I applied for the CSP to purchase our DVC contract because of the great SUB.

Any thoughts on which one of us should apply for the SWA card and which card would be best for our situation?

agreed this makes scotts flights look like yahoo mail :)

You are right, I have been blown away at some annual fees I have seen people post on here. I am definitely not against it, as long as it is worth it to me. I am also amazed at how everyone on here maximizes all of the benefits that each card offers. I have been trying to learn all I can about my new CSP card because I want to be able to take advantage of all that it gives me. Then maybe once I have it figured out, I may see about the CSR or maybe some other card. We really only vacation at Disney, where we have DVC now or Orange Beach, AL/Destin, FL, where we usually rent a condo though so I am not sure a Hotel chain card would ever be right for us, but the thought of earning free nights makes me interested. I would love to go back to NYC one day, but can't get DH onboard. I also dream of going to Paris/Italy/Germany some day. We live in small town Mississippi where there is absolutely nothing to do, so I do love to travel and want to travel, it's just hard for us to get off work too much. Heck, we don't even have passports yet. We gotta do better with our lives!

Would you recommend I just apply for the lowest AF SWA card in Oct or would I be better going with another one knowing our travel patterns? I am not in a hurry to apply for any cards, Chase or otherwise and we probably won't be flying to Disney again until May so that's when I would like to be able to use the CP.

@becauseimnew @disneylover81 I make a spreadsheet for all my AFs if I don't hit that amount in point bonus to break even or benefits I get rid of it. Just today my AMEX platinum I bought a headset almost 2 years ago google wouldn't replace it now I'm getting the new google headset as a replacement for 20$ more to me that's 200$ in benefit this year, I think this is the second thing that's broken this year on my AMEX platinum alone. Of course YMMV and it's not an every-year thing. But this is how I personally count the break-even in points+benefit.

Also if you don't spend ~8k a year in travel on the CSR for the most part it's not worth the extra cost, but that's what I found in an old spreadsheet tab I have since deleted.
I used to rent cars from the big companies so I would factor in 10$ a day for insurance but now that turo is so much cheaper I don't bother with that calculation (it's also not covered).

This may be a dumb question, but I am confused. With the SWA card CP, is it something that is ongoing year after year if you spend a certain amount or does it only work when you are a new card member and meet the requirements and it only applies for that year and the following year and then it's no longer an option unless you cancel the card and reapply and start over?

If you just signed up there is a sign up bonus. That's temporary (not sure what your promotion was). Then come January 1 2023 etc you start over on the benefits similar with Hyatt delta etc.

Okay, you both convinced me to try it out lol. Not much risk with the 100 day refund policy.

@reliev Thanks for the promo code!

That's a nice benefit from AMEX.

I LOVE making spreadsheets. I guess if I start getting several cards with AF's, I would make a spreadsheet too just to keep up. I am starting it slow, as I just got my first AF card, but it was no doubt worth the $95 fee because I already have earned $1500 UR since May. Every card has different benefits and I need to step up my game. I struggle sometimes just to keep up with the Chase Freedom and Discover card 5% Bonus categories each quarter and also the little addons "+" signs that have to be clicked each month. I plan on getting a SWA card in October to earn the CP so I am looking into those options now to see which one would be best us.

That CSR $495 AF for sure had me nervous! But I know from the DIS that it pretty much pays for itself if you work it right. Normally spending $8k in travel a year is nothing to me, but we just purchased DVC so we will no longer be making cash reservations for rooms anymore there, which was a huge chunk of our travel spend. So now I will have to sit back next year and just see what we are looking like with our spending.

If you mean does SW offer a CP all the time, yes. It's offered for anyone who logs 100 qualifying flights or 125,000 RR points. People on this thread generally find the quickest way to 125 k RR points is via CC signup bonuses. That said, you don't need to use a CC at all, people who fly SW a lot are also able to earn CP. The CP is good for the rest of the year you earn it and the following year. People here like to get it in January thus having almost 2 years of CP, before signing up for another CC bonus to start all over again (and many people alternate between partners.)

I plan on signing up in Oct and it's 50k now. So you can continuously earn the CP year after year as long as you earn the necessary Reward Points?

I would probably get the Priority Card, the AF is $149 but comes with $75 Southwest travel credit (which you can use to buy Early bird check in) and 4 upgrades at the boarding gate. Those 2 things are worth more than the AF, plus you'll get 7,500 miles at your one year anniversary.

And the sign up bonus is only 50K RR now, but there have been some better offers in the recent past.
