Marathon Weekend 2023

I wonder if they have any issues with link stealing or reverse engineering? That would have to be a concern of the developers.

If demand continues to rise for runDisney events, they may have to go to a lottery system like the bigger marathons have.
Personally, I think we're going to see a dramatic drop off in demand for RunDisney events here shortly. Prior to the pandemic, demand had sharply declined to the point that races were open for months, if they sold out at all. There were actually discount codes offered for some Marathon Weekend and SWRR weekends. My thought is that RunDisney is currently riding the pent-up post-pandemic travel bubble and that bubble will pop relatively soon. Only time will tell, though.

SAFD (2 days late): MK. For all of the reasons everyone already stated. I have nothing new to add.

In planning news, we bought our tickets and made our park reservations over the weekend. Also grabbed memory maker for all of the race photos. If anyone wanted to share with us, for a very reasonable amount, we'll have space for 3 additional 5k and 10k bibs, and 4 additional HM and M bibs.
Can you or someone on here explain how Memory Maker works with the runDisney events? From quick research, it seems that you can purchase MM for one day for like $69, or for the entire trip for $169. I see that you have 3 or 4 additional spots per race. How does this work? Did you buy a runDisney Memory Maker package or are you able to purchase per race or something? I have no idea how this all works.

Anybody who gets memory maker can link up to 5 bibs per race.

I keep hearing about an impending recession, and airfare is still ridiculous. Other factors can certainly influence a drop off as well.

There's one-day MM for $69 (for people doing just one park day, or just one race day) or the whole trip for $169 (purchased at least 3 days in advance) or $199 (less than 3 days in advance.) You can link up to 5 bibs per race to the same MM account so that if you are running with friends or family you don't all have to purchase your own or just hope that you're in the pics together (and I can tell you from experience during SS when I was very obviously running with my SIL that some of the photographers do a GREAT job of getting individual pics of runners.)

Thinking the same, and the theme for 2023 MW really didn’t help things. You’ll also have DL races returning so that should spread out demand a bit.

I think it'll last another year or 2 (unless the economy does something truly horrific) since the DL races are coming back and there will be people jonesing for the C2C medal.

It'll be interesting to see if RunDisney goes back to having a half at Springtime Surprise or counts the 10-miler towards C2C. It's hard to imagine them having a race weekend without a tie-in to C2C and the extra demand it brings.

I think disney world next year will dramatically drop off but Disneyland runs will be crazy and probably crash the system like marathon weekend. Soo much pent up demand. I know as a Coloradan disney is easier for me for runs. So I do not plan on doing a disney world run next season but a Disneyland run.

car rentals through autoslash are still trending downward...on-airport pickups are down almost $200 since a month ago through a few places now.

Merch Speculation time!

There was a 25th anniversary loungefly bag for MW. Do we think there will be a 30th? There was a loungefly bag in the preorders for SS. DO you think they will have Dooneys?

Other than the NON-SHOE ornament for the 2022 MW, have there been any glaring absences from the merch building post-Rona? I know the SS expo was super weird and they didn't get the ears in time and put a bunch of other random ones in there to fill up space.

Add that W&D last year I overheard a shoe ornament and other items were also late and off loaded to cast connection

It will interesting to see what W&D this year holds

Yes. I saw a lot of pics on FB about the W&D shoe ornaments (and other things) going to CC and later on to the outlet. I'm really hoping that there's been a good resolution to the supply issues for W&D so I have less stress about getting pins for MW. I've already resigned myself to the idea that the spirit jersey is going to be so horrible that I won't want to buy it.

The only sure thing I think we can count on at this point is "I DID IT!" being plastered all over every item available in the RunDisney merch area.

Have you used this website before? The prices it's giving me are nearly 50% lower than the prices that I'm seeing if I were to book directly with the rental company. Sounds way to good to be true.

I haven’t used them personally, but I know that they are suggested at lot in the transportation forum on here. We almost always book using credit card points, but sometimes other sites have better deals (as an example, during spring break our rental through UT was about 40% of what everyone else was charging)

MW 2022 didn't have wine glasses. Glaringly absent to me since we always get a pair!

With the new virtual queue system in place for W&D, and no preorders for MW, I’m not feeling great about merch. It reminds me of the Merch Pass shopDisney started using after the castle collection was released. I could be there as early as possible on opening day, but a virtual queue assignment might decide whether or not I get merch for my first (and likely only) Dopey experience (I can say likely because my work schedule is not at all conducive to doing this more than once). Even though not standing on ridiculously long lines sounds great, I see it as a part of the runDisney experience, and it’s fun to chat with people on line and get excited for race day.

I’d love to see an anniversary loungefly, but I’d only buy it if I absolutely loved it. I spend too much as is at the expo! Not interested in a spirit jersey this time around, but I usually go for pins, magnets, and the weekend jacket (basically everything that goes first lol). Id like to look at Dopey specific items as well.

Last year a very kind Disboards runner picked up marathon items for me, which was an huge deal because it was my first marathon and by the time I could get to the expo almost everything was already gone. I’d be more than happy to do the same for anyone in need if I can get in early enough.
