Princess of Wales

I'm sure everyone will hate me saying this but I always wondered why Michelle Obama didn't get her teeth fixed. Maybe at some point you just say "what the heck, I'm not enduring that." I know there's tons of opinions on here but I think she has an attractive, pulled together appearance but her teeth have always been a distraction for me--not because they aren't "perfect" but they are just really, noticeably crooked and crowded.
Can't say I ever noticed her teeth. But I don't follow fashion, etc, and just reading this thread is hilarious because all women are judged on is their appearance. So silly and shallow, but entertaining to read the comments.

I thought Kate looked really smashing! :goodvibes I liked the tiara on all of them. I think Diana probably had a big head. (I have one, too, lol, so I can relate.) It probably has a more dainty look on others. But Diana still looked lovely in it, imho.

I saw some discussion online yesterday about why Sophie’s tiara is somewhat puny, and that she’s more deserving of a better one now, since she’s been so hard working and proven herself to be an asset to the royal family. People also seem to feel that she and Edward should be named Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.

Yes because it is a state banquet, which is politics and discussing how King Charles wants to work with South africa and other Commonwealth countries to move on from the troubled past is forbidden on this board :)

Besides we werent there, so we can't really discuss how Catherine and Camilla worked at the banquet. But in my opinion being a woman is probably a plus when it comes to state visits as womem are usually better at small talk. A lot happens between the lines at an official visit.

We can only see the outside of these visits. So all there is to discuss is the outside.

But to make you happy, the palace has recently stopped communicating about the royals outfits (which designer) on normal royal visits. As too much attention was going to what or who Catherine was wearing.

Well, to be fair, the other poster above me did talk about Micheal Strahan's teeth. I think both men and women have "bad teeth" get equally noticed.

I did read somewhere in recent months that this was the desire of Prince Philip, and I think it would be a lovely outcome. :goodvibes

I think the hair style is why it looks so much different on Diana. She had the 80's feathered bangs in front of the tiara, but Kate and Elizabeth had their hair pulled back in the front.

I thought Sophie looked really sad. I hope her family members get all the honors they deserve after their loyalty and hard work.

Kate looked absolutely amazing. I was so blown away that I sent DD a link to a photo right away.

Camilla is just Camilla. We all need to remember her age. As far as discussion about her teeth...at a certain age, orthodontia isn't recommended. I used to have great teeth, but they crowded as I got older. I discussed it with my dentist and he wouldn't refer me to an orthodontist. He said there are risks of infection and damage to bone, etc., that make it not worth the risk in most older people.

I think it's the hair. Diana had a very dated hairstyle in that picture.

I remember my sister saying how gorgeous Diana was that she even looked beautiful with the world's worst hairstyle. I thought that was funny and sorta true.

I think they all look stunning, crooked teeth, wrinkles and all. After all they are in their seventies (me too). Charles deserves to be King. He’s waited and trained his whole life for it. Diana was beautiful, but we’re looking at 80s or 90s styles. She was considered very fashionable then. Remember those big shoulders and big costume jewelry. We all wore them.

And they’ll be back! :rotfl2:

Not a fan of Camilla either. If she wanted straight teeth she would have taken care of that years ago. I'd say that straight teeth are more of an American thing, but some celebrities in the U.S. could use orthodontia too. Not to mention any names, but Michael Strahan comes to mind.
But William, Harry, and Catherine's teeth are fine, aren't they? White and straight from what I've seen. Do people not care for their teeth as they get older in the UK? Whitening is not expensive and Invisalign is coming down in price for braces.
I think orthodontia is not very common in the UK. The UK doesn't even make the top 10 in dental hygiene in Europe.
That's weird - not even the royal family?
And by other women.
Well, for my part, we were talking about how the tiara looked, and I couldn't get past her teeth. So that's why I was commenting. But Charles' teeth are pretty nasty too, when he actually smiles.

I thought that had been the plan since Edward and Sophie were married. I was under the impression, but could be very incorrect, that they were given the title of Earl and Countess of Wessex with the understanding that when Prince Philip passed the title of Duke of Edinburgh would go to Edward. But, like I said, that may not be accurate.

It is probably just a cultural thing. There are countries in the world were plastic surgery is normal and encouraged. South Korea and Brazil have the biggest plastic surgery industries in the world, where almost all women and a lot of men (exaggaration & generalization) have had something done.

It is not a cost thing, but more about preferring natural or because it is considered vanity. I believe it is not even done to dye your hair in the royal family.

Regarding whitening. My mom had the most natural whitest teeth ever. She's 78 now and they are yellow and looking bad. Whitening does very little at that point because it's not the enamel that has yellowed but it is the dentin being exposed as the enamel wears thin. There's very little you can do at that point. Older people here in the U.S. (celebs) that have to be seen all the time end up getting very expensive veneers to take care of that problem. But I don't fault anyone for not going through with that if they just don't care. The royal family will be the royal family yellow teeth or white teeth. They don't have to worry about their looks to retain their positions like a celebrity would.

Dental care wasn’t the same over 70 years ago as it is now, even in the US. That may play a big part in why the younger generation have such nice looking teeth. I’ve always noted the difference in my parents teeth (dad born in the 30’s, had full dentures in his 30s), vs. mine (born in the late 50s, one tooth is crooked, many cavities & crowns but have most of my own teeth) vs. my kids (born in the early 80s, same ages as William & Harry, DS had braces as a kid, never had a cavity in his life; DD 1 small cavity last year, 1st one ever). Even toothpaste is so much different now with lots of whitening formulas.
