I did. I tried Instacard help. They told me to contact Chase. I contacted Chase and they said to contact Instacart.

UGH! She had me tried different browsers too. Then she told me to wait 24 hours and see if what she did on her end triggers something.

So I took advantage of the $25 off at Kroger on my Surpass. I also have a $10 off coupon too. So this should make the order I just made a little easier to accept, LOL.

But now I can't get instacart to work. Also my Priority Pass wasn't active. Apparently I had to call Chase to reactivate my PP card. So we'll see if that works now. The agent THINKS she activated something for the Instacart. She told me to try tomorrow.
Friday I scored $100 Amazon card at Kohls. Then yesterday I used one of my Chase 10% offers at OD to buy another $100 in Amazon. Used that to buy my 17yo the remote start for her car that I found on Amazon. I also used another Chase 10% offer to buy my kids $100 in various food GCs. They are constantly driving around for food or snacks, LOL. Might as well get 5x points and get $10 back, LOL. I still have $25 off at Staples I need to use between now and the end of the year.

I also use Aldi for the Instacart. I order a huge pack of toilet paper and a big pack of paper towels on each of our cards each month. The Ultra paper towel is as good or better than Bounty.

I don't have an Aldi's close by. But there is one on the way to my BF's house. So I guess I could plan something for when I'm heading there, LOL.

On my Amex Plat, I have a $25 off $50+ and $20 off $40+ x 3. I wonder if they stack. Along with the Kroger offer of $15 off first 3 purchases, it would be really nice to stock up on some pantry staples for cheap. Best case scenario would be $95-25-20-20-15 = $15. Will report back.

Question about VISA/Mastercard gift cards. What do you use these to buy? I have "only use a credit card" burned into my brain from my mom even though I know she used buying gift cards as a strategy. I've had problems with these gift cards getting hacked before so I prefer to use them in one large sum. However, my rent portal/utilities payments either don't allow debit cards or charge a fee. How high of a fee are you willing to pay to use these cards? I don't want to buy groceries with it since that is a quarterly bonus next year.

I normally use them to MS. I did just use the credit I have on my CSR (which I'm working on the SUB) at OD to get $11 back, and bought the "free" MCGC. I used them to start to pay down my property taxes which are due in Feb. Staples is out of my way and 95% of the time is sold out, so I don't jump on the VGC often. I prefer the OD offer.

What card does he have? The portal redeems at 1-1.5 cents per point depending on the card type with Chase so there may or may not be a portal benefit.

He has CSR and I have CSP, so we both have access to the inflated point value of the reward portal. But are there drawbacks to booking through Chase? I usually transfer my points to travel partners directly but idk what carrier I will be using or if travel partners are more limited if traveling overseas (if that makes sense)

The posting of RR cc points earned through spending isn't based on a number of days or weeks. Ever. They post to one's account based on one's statement closing date. Once a $ charge posts to the credit card, it earns a certain number of points. Those points are then paid out and transferred to Chase when the statement closes. A statement closes the same time every month.

So for example, let's assume someone signed up for a $5,000 MSR, earning 80,000 points. Let's say their statement closes 12/15/22. If on 12/11, they charged $5,001 and the charge posts, they will have earned their SUB of 80,000 points when their statement closes on 12/15. Just a matter of a few days after charging. Those points will count towards that calendar year's companion pass, so 2022/23.

In another scenario, one might charge $5,001 on 12/16/22. Because their statement just closed on 12/15, their next statement won't be until January 15, 2023. In this scenario, it's nearly four weeks between the points charging and being "earned" on the statement. They'll earn their SUB of 80,000 points and it will count towards 2023/24 companion pass.

Then if it can happen this quickly, perhaps they shouldn't say in bold several times ""Please allow up to 8 weeks for bonus points to post to your Rapid Rewards® account." This leads one to believe they are safe to complete the spend if there are only two days remaining. Wish I had time to play the credit card games, and keep track of it all, but I don't. If you complete the required spending within the promotional period, the amount of time it takes to go through the system and be posted shouldn't matter.

The limits of booking through Chase's portal are (to me) reservations are viewed as an OTA (online travel agency) which leading to 2 potential problems major-quite a hassle if there is ANY disruption to your trip and the minor one of not earning points for status at a hotel.

If there's an issue-cancelled flight, significant delay in flights, etc the airline will refer you back to Chase travel portal and that isn't super user friendly.

Personally, I would go to skyscanner and input your dates with both STL/ORD and compare the prices and look at the flights that are the cheapest (on those airlines). It looks like both British Air and United have nonstop from ORD and will probably be cheaper. Happily if you're using UR then they'll transfer directly to those programs (if you're not a member of their programs it's free, quick and easy to sign up). British Air will likely have better prices in miles but will charge you more in fees. Flying from the UK, regardless of the carrier usually has higher fees, so prepare yourself for that.

I wouldn't do it just because of the hassle, im not sure how much work the new one is though I only used the old ones after trying to change for hours on the phone even pre covid I decided it wasn't worth the effort.

Yes, this hobby isn't for everyone. Going for nearly two years of companion pass is considered an advanced strategy, because it does take careful planning and research to get it just right. But for those who do the research and are careful about the statement timing, it can really pay off.

I hope you were able to at least use your oodles of southwest points from your cc SUBs and one year's worth of companion pass! Still a great deal!

FYI it looks like the older MB ones have been removed from the promo, you have to look for the new Pathward labeled ones with the new fees I'm sure y'all know by now but same bank, just new name. (Must've been an expensive name change!) Also sucks that $600 isn't triggering both promos for $30 off like before. So if it doesn't work, check the packaging.

@IFlossU did you get the new 5.95 GEs? And if so are they ringing up with the right fee now? Last time I paid attention I think some were being charged the 7.95 like the regular Visas, even though the package says 5.95. Be good to hear that was fixed.

I got a bonus offer on my SW card. Earn 25% more points if I spend 1500. It sounds good but not sure if my offer on my Chase Biz card which is 5000 extra points if I spend 5000 Is better. I had been concentrating on doing that at staples when there are offers for the visa or MC deals there. Anyone else have either of these offers?

For those who have applied for TSA Precheck and did not already have fingerprints on file somewhere (like for your work or anything)- do you recall how long it took your application to be approved?

I used the credit on the Venture X for my husband's appointment the Monday after Thanksgiving and we were just wondering about how long we should expect to wait to hear anything back. (Mine was super fast but I think it's because I've been recently fingerprinted for work and the local school district).

Sounds like a Biz Plat is a good plan. I would have gotten one a while ago if I could have easily hit the spend. That’s a nice amount of MRs and you get 1.5x points for purchases over 5k. A nice little bump in addition to your bonus, and of course, it’s triple dip month. Keep us posted.

Well I now have about 15 $1 charges from InstaCart in trying to attach my CSR. It worked today. But I can no add any of my other cards to my account. UGH! I guess I'll wait 24 hours and try to add my CSP and freedoms tomorrow. And then try to use all my credits. So if I use all my credits (including the every 3 mos) does it reset in Jan, or in March?

I'll have to try my OD today. I prefer the VGC offers there since you can MS the everywhere cards much easier at WM. I have a ton of Chase offers to work through. We'll see how many GCs I buy, LOL.

I think I'm going to file a chargeback on my CSR against DHGate. I ordered a purse, and the color they sent me is not what they showed on the website. The seller even went as far as to edit my photo evidence to change the color (and made my skin grey). DHGate gave me $15 back. The purse was $85. They had 3 shades of purple. And they didn't send me the one I ordered. I even did side by side of my purse and the other colors and you can see they sent me a different shade. I think I can probably get my money back from Chase, or I hope so. But I've heard DHGate bans you if you do that, LOL. I've had a few other people look at the purse IRL and the color options and agree I was sent the other shade....Not telling you which I wanted. Do you think the purse matches the top or bottom? And you should see the edit the seller did of my photo (on the left). They made me GREY!
