Disney Vacation Club is currently offering significant direct purchase discounts at Polynesian and Bay Lake Tower. But is it a good deal?

Let us know in the comments what you think of these Polynesian and Bay Lake Tower deals! Will they get you to pull the trigger on some direct points? Why do you think these deals are being released right now?

I wonder how people will read into this (if at all) as to what it means for Poly Tower being the same association or not.

Agreed. For us, the original Poly DVC setup doesn't work with just the studios (or a billion points for bungalows). If the new tower is not combined with the current Poly assoc, then I wouldn't want points in the current setup, I'd want them in the tower. Guess we'll see!

The deals are pretty good for those who want to buy either of those resorts and have access to membership extras and use at RIV and future resorts, especially if RIV and VGF don't interest.

It is interesting that now all MK area resorts have a discount on them. In terms of association, I think you can still look it at both ways.

Why sell points at such a discount since Poly tower sales are still a year away? It leads me to think that they don't need these points and that by selling them like this, they are not selling the same resort as they will be next year since Poly tower will be it's own association. They are not taking in ROFR and trying to sell what they have on hand because once Poly tower goes on sale, these are not needed.

On the other hand, it allows them to just sell points for 11 month advantage at Poly tower before Poly tower is even yet built since it will be rolled in to the same association. Capturing those buyers who have said they are waiting until that goes on sale to purchase?

It just seems odd to me that they would discount things like this and then turn around, roll it into PVB, and have given people a big jump on direct pricing for the tower.

For BLT, I think it is because VGF is not selling at a rate they thought it would.

ETA: What the discount at PVB will do is spark questions to guides now about home resort advantage at the tower.

Meh, these are a little cheaper, but I wouldn't call this a fire sale. I still expect a BLT firesale, I would imagine they have a lot of it, as they are trying to sell VGF instead.

I don't read anything into the Poly. This is probably close to what the promo rates will be? So, it's not like it matters either way.

Oh this is interesting. I plan to add points when the poly2 starts selling, but my interest is booking studios, so the poly1 works fine.

But now the question is, for the amount of points I want to add, if it’s the same association, maybe it’ll be cheaper if I wait until 2024…

I think this is just Disney making money by buying cheaper in ROFR / foreclosure and selling the points at direct prices. No new build required. Just pushing around some papers. Pure profit.

Doesn’t mean anything imo about whether Poly tower (or BLT2) will be a new association. Arguments can be made for either side, will just wait for them to tell us.

Seriously doubt that, I bet it will be about the same as this promotion. BUT you get a couple years extra of points.

You have to decide whether that is worth the risk of being locked out of Poly2.

There will be a price increase between now and then so if PVB works for you, I think this is probably a pretty decent offer.

I think regardless, you will pay more next year. If PVB studios are fine, direct points will give you access to the Poly tower at 7 months, if it ends up being its own assocation.

Is it just me or does this not seem like that great of a deal? I was considering BLT/poly tower for my MK home resort but I’ve been seeing BLT go for low 130s lately. With the incentives on a 200 point contract it drops the direct price to 230. Essentially I’d be saving nearly 100 per point with resale. With which money I could then flip and buy RIV resale since I’m a direct RIV owner or consider AKV for not that much more

I don't think you can read anything into the fact that they're discounting BLT and PVB except that they probably have more points in stock than they forecast they'll need.

Once Poly Tower being a separate association or not is confirmed, the Monday morning quarterbacks can read two different reasons into the recent decision to put the PVB points on sale:
One association: They're going to have millions of points to sell, so they definitely didn't need to stock up on PVB points a year in advance.
Two associations: Once a two association announcement is made, people will want to buy new Poly Tower points, and they'd be sitting on a lot of PVB points that would be harder to sell.

I wouldn't buy any points at Poly unless my guide would answer the question if the new Poly Tower was going to be part of the same association.
I guess the guides selling Poly *now* would be prepped to say "but it won't matter to you since you are getting direct points."

Thanks for saving me the time to look this up! < goes back to watching BLT, RIV, VGC resale prices > :surfweb:

This is only a good deal for people that were going to buy direct anyways. There are dozens of us. Dozens!

It's a little too early for us... but we're in this camp. We love Poly1 and plan to buy there but want to wait and see what happens with Poly2. Hoping for some good incentives. We would likely be happy with either since we are typically studio people... studios with 2 bathrooms, that is.....

😂 I’m looking to get a direct MK resort contract to compile it with my RIV and I SWEAR I’m good.. at least until I get a resale RIV but when I feel like I could get nearly double the points using 2 resale contracts for a similar price it makes it hard to justify. I’m personally rooting for a new association with poly2. If its going to be 230 per point direct I want it to be for the full 50 years to coincide with my RIV.

Edit: another important distinction.. this is 230 AFTER incentives, I know everyone realizes this but I mean.. VGF is going for 217 before any discounts.. add on the incentives for 200 pts and its 201pp. I’d say this is good for someone looking to add on to their direct contract who already owns there or wants a small contract there and wants ALL of their points to be eligible at RIV, VDH, poly2, whatever.
