I have a 1099 tax question regarding the sale of my SSR contract. Is there a forum for these types of questions? Disney ROFR'd my contract and sent me the 1099. I sold 2 (1 to Disney and 1 through a broker). Do I pay tax on the entire amount or only the profit? I bought 3 contracts in the same year. Anyone have experience with this?

I received the email with my vacation club id but when I went to sign up it asked for an activation code. Where do I get this?

Thanks for your timeline. We're at Mason, estimated 3/9 closing. Passed ROFR yesterday, signed paperwork and wired money today. So hopefully it closes sooner than later
We’re using Mason and passed 2/2 (we’re the sellers). We got the paperwork Monday and we closed this morning. Our estimate close date was something like 3/20. So hopefully you’ll close sooner. There is a lot of paperwork that needs to be notarized on the sellers side so sometimes it can take a while, but Mason has always been really speedy, in our experience, using them as buyer and seller.

I moved VGC points from my Dec UY to my June UY. I do not have VGC in June, I have 2 BCV contracts only right now in that UY. The VGC points show up like a 3rd contract under the June UY. Unfortunately I had to call to book with them as home resort points, but did have visibility... and I could combine them with my June points for a 7 month booking. When you transfer them, they also don't show up in your dashboard totals either. But if you try to make a booking under 7 months, you have the 3 contracts to choose from in my case
Me dealing with DVC point rules.

On normal real estate transactions, you only pay tax on the profit, which I believe holds true here. You would just need to have your buying documentation in case you get audited as proof.

I'm not a lawyer or accountant but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Gotta strike while the ROFR monster sleeps amirite? 🙂

There were a bunch of contracts the other day on fidelity from the same seller, congrats to everyone else who got one too! Poor Bonnie had a DAY.

It looks like I started looking a couple days too late.

Congrats on your great deal.

Awesome to hear. Fingers crossed for next week, then!

So as I noted in an update yesterday we passed ROFR (waiver and estoppel provided to title company). Signed the closing documents and wired final payment earlier today.

Question is how patient do I need to be before I bug (I assume) the title company for an update ;)

I'll add that I already have the Orange County Recorder site bookmarked!

Sellers need time to get documents notarized, so I’d give that a few weeks.

I sure hope they don't take that long. You would think they want their money :)
It took our sellers like 4 weeks last time. While it does take some time, Make sure you keep checking in. It’s your time and money too!! Especially if you have points you can use soon.

Now this is impressive! Making me feel guilty about not asking less for mine 😂
This one was from the same seller that you bought from (as was mine). 80pp because it expires in 2042, ours expire in 2057. Trust me, you got a phenomenal deal.

And if it makes you feel better, I did initially ask for a little lower (i hate fidelity's service fee and always try to get seller to pay it). He wasn't going a penny lower.

I think it’s probably highly dependent on how fast the sellers get their paperwork back. I think our sellers were motivated and wanted to move quickly. They were fast with everything.

I checked in at the end of each week. The lady was very nice and said to check in whenever I wanted to! I only needed to check twice. I was shocked when I emailed today and she said it was closing this afternoon!
