The Wish is probably a one and done for us.

For a little background we did a b2b on the Wish's February 3rd and 6th cruises and these were our 25th and 26th on DCL and first time on the Wish. Just my wife amd myself. We tried to go on this trip with an open mind but every day was a new challenge. To start we didn’t like having to walk around the building coming from the resort bus. Pre covid you would always use the side entrance so I’m not sure what that change was about. We were underwhelmed with the Wish’s Grand Hall. Reminded me of hotel in Las Vegas and not a cruise ship. Headed to Marceline Market where most stations are not self serve and it can’t be for health safety because no servers behind the counter were wearing gloves and you have to hand them your already germ infested plate. Portion control maybe? Didn’t like that either particularly when I wanted some of the shrimp and they were doling 2 at a time. It seemed like you had to walk a third of the ship to get to all the stations. They also weren't very diligent on getting people to wash their hands, we saw many families just walking straight through. Got to the stateroom 8118 about 2PM and found storage for 2 adults adequate but any more people in the stateroom could be a challenge to find places to fit your things. Split bathroom and the shower room is so much nicer however the toilet room seems smaller than the other ships. The biggest issue we had is the layout and size of most venues. Too choppy and no flow. Adult venues are all over so we didn’t find that convenient. If you go to Cove Café and its rainy out you will get wet. Hyperspace lounge seems unfinished and no draft beer. I guess they don’t have that in space. The food in the MDRs was OK and just a weird thing with Worlds of Marvel dinner show where Antman and the Wasp were replaced by Spiderman for the live portion at the end. The head server said Antman and Wasp were too adult whatever that meant. Went to Palo’s for dinner one cruise and brunch the other. We dislike the dinner prefix menu and the absence of the buffet portion of the brunch. We get it free since we are Platinum otherwise wouldn’t pay for it. Not a fan of the this version of the Little Mermaid show. Theater seats are not comfortable if your over 5’10. Movie theater venues are super small. Castaway Cay seemed too small for this ship especially with the 2nd cruise when we had better weather. The line for food at the Serenity Bay BBQ was wrapped around to where the bathrooms are. On the Wish they never contacted us on either cruise to ask what Platinum gift we wanted. When I called they said they sent a notification through the app which was a lie because other Platinum members have had the same issue. We really wanted to like the ship but unless they can change things that is probably it for us.

Weird about the shrimp , there was a guy behind that counter but the tongs were sitting out to use when we went in Sept. wasn’t a portion control thing either because I asked for bacon one morning and got half a plate that I didn’t want.

I only found the Cafe Cove the last day….lol it is hidden if you don’t go around the corner. Just saw the dead end turned around.

Yes the movie theatres are way to small. Not sure why they did this. Same movies playing in both .

It isn’t for everyone . Thanks for your review.

So what did you think of the Wish?

Other than it was too short of a cruise. We thought it was a beautiful ship.

The venues are very small. We went to the making of the Wish in Tritions ? Now that was small. People were sitting on the floor and we were packed in there.

The space bar was every plain to me. They should have made it like the kids clubs area. Now that was cool.

The tables are very close together in the dining rooms too.

Will we cruise on her again , not sure but we will try the Treasure when it comes on line to see if there are changes.

It's funny how big the adult areas are on the small classic ships and how small they are on the big ships. Makes no sense.

Agree with a lot of this opinion, the Wish wasn't our favorite of the DCL ships and we don't plan on booking it again unless it gets quite a bit cheaper. But, when we were on it in September Hyperspace Lounge did have two Star Wars themed draft beers on tap, both of which I thought were pretty good.

I started a thread a couple of weeks ago about the Wish. I agree with a lot of what you said. I didn't go into the theatre so I can't comment on that. Did you try the pool side food? I thought that was one redeeming quality.
The BBQ was good pizza was not. Wife had a taco bowl and the rice was sort of mushy.

Unless they were out at the time. They only had a few bottled beers

I liked Donald's Mexican food, but I'm a big fan of Chipolte type bowls. and basically any type of Mexican food. Of course it doesn't measure up to what I get in my state, but for a cruise ship I thought it was decent.

I never expect the food on any ship or any cruise line to blow me away, but it's included with the cost and it's usually palatable. The best cruise food I've had was Guys on Carnival.

I peeked into the hyperspace lounge, but never went back. Nothing was convenient on that ship. On the other ships I have my place where I grab a drink before dinner on this ship I just felt lost most of the time.

Palo was good and it was fun to enjoy with my 18 year- old for the first time.

We didn’t mind the Wish. The layout is a little wonky, but it took time figuring out the Fantasy and Dream when they were new, too.

Movie theaters are for sure a bust. But we got used to most else. Even the lack of windows and outside view from inside the ship.

We noticed there are things that they just don’t do on the Wish they did/do on other ships. We’re not platinum, but we’ve heard a lot of complaints about not getting a call or reach out about the platinum gift.

We’re back in the Dream in 2024. Will have been 12 years since it was doing the short cruises. Will try for the Treasure sometime in or after 2025.

When we sailed on the Wish last year they definitely had unusual beer options (I’m not a beer drinker, would have to ask husband if they were on draft), but a non-trivial % of the Skywalker wine options were not currently available.

We like the lounge (if you’re a SW nerd, just the sound of the “air lock” doors wooshing open and closed is fun!) but didn’t think we could do Wish more than once every few years because the dinners were really about the shows, and we didn’t need to see any of them more than once. Now that it’s been 7 months, I’m thinking that we’d be ready to go again in another 6-18m, but the short itineraries aren’t that appealing to us…and I agree that CC is a bit crowded with the Wish’s passenger load. Maybe we’ll go after Frozen 3 is released and hope they update the content?

Random aside: It was my husband’s favorite pirate night of the 3 ships we sailed on.

This happened to me on the Wonder in December. No one reached out about the gift. I don’t really care either way, but I’m wondering if this is becoming fleet wide and then only the people who really think about the gift and call get the gift.

Yes we usually skip the pirate show but this one was great!

We were just on the Magic last month and they had the usually start of the pirate show for the kids and half way thru they did the Rock music like the Wish. Adults went crazy…lol Heard a lot saying yes this is for mom and dad.

Based on comments and reviews, I am going to pass on the Wish for now. Just doesn't seem like I'm the target audience.

Which is perfectly fine, in no way is that a complaint. I'll probably stick to the older ships (even though it's crazy to call the Dream and Fantasy old)

You had Spiderman at Worlds of Marvel? I wonder if there was illness or some other issue because a few weeks ago, we had Ant Man and The Wasp.
Hard to tell. DCL is not very transparent when something changes in my opinion. Spiderman did not fit in at all to the story line.

Did they cut the square feet on the cabins to have room to fit more cabins on the ship?
