I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

Yes, my first thought was downgrade CSP to a CF. You could also refer DW for her own CSP. Obviously, if you can do a business card, jump on the Ink bonus while it’s hot!

You are right to be thinking about impact to travel benefits. We downgraded DH’s CSP to a Freedom. It went relatively smoothly, but we first made sure to transfer points to my CSR. I have considered doing something similar with my CSR I’ve had for 4 years, but we have a summer trip planned reserved with the card and I’m worried about needing to possibly take advantage of the travel insurance tied to it. It’s not likely, but anything can happen where we might want or be entitled to reimbursement and I’d hate to lose that benefit by downgrading now.

This is pretty neat. Even though I have no need of an itinerary for Costa Rica, I put in our trip to see. The results are good, interesting things to do but it added at least one restaurant meal per day so I checked out those restaurants and now I have some new ideas. I also put in our weekend trip to NOLA but was disappointed to find the restaurants recommended are all the old guard, nothing new or innovative. The recs for tours and such are pretty spot on.

Love that you are taking your kids! We celebrated our 30th with an Alaskan cruise and took DS who was 10 at the time. Honestly he would have been heart broken to have been left at home. At this point we have not taken a vacation without DS but we had 20+ years of vacation before him and not that many years before he'll be out doing his own thing.
Glad not everyone thinks i'm weird, but I just feel these types of vacations they will remember for a long time. My wife and I will have plenty of time together for our trips when the girls are having their own families and we'll be missing them of course😑

Thanks for the tip! Does this require a cancel and rebook or is there a way to change to the same flight like Southwest?

I generally have to do cancel/rebook as I get the 'These flights cannot be modified online' message a lot with JetBlue. As an added bonus though - twice I have seen then price drop even further as soon as I cancel so I can then book at an even lower price.

I haven’t been following all the Ink news since Ive been hitting Chase hard lately. I also need to apply for a CSR this month so no ink for me.
Dh has agreed to be my P2 for a card so I’m in! I am trying to use a referral link from one of my inks but all 3 say no offers. Are referrals dead? I don’t want to miss the high bonus so should I just apply without the referral link for DH?

I just did this with a JetBlue flight when the points price dropped (site wouldn't let me change) and didn't realize the fees get returned as a travel credit when you cancel, and those can't be used to pay fees on a points booking. The "value" of points I saved is a bit more than the 11.20 travel credit, but it still bugs me that I'll probably not use the credit before it expires. Are you just paying the fees again every time you rebook and saving the credits, or are you booking cash fares?

I ran into that over the weekend, couldn't get it from my account (only personal cards were listed ) so I used the main Chase RAF page. Still was a little bumpy but after a try or two I got the link and it pulled up the app. I compared to an older link and turned out to be the same one so at least I know it should be valid.

Chase RAF catch-all

Yes, I forgot about that. I fly JetBlue often enough that I am often running a balance in Travel credits either from repricing or sometimes utilizing Amex Plat credits etc. I know I will use the funds eventually so not worried having to pay the fees again. I usually only rebook if the the savings are more than 1000 points so even if I lost the $5.60 in taxes it would still be worth it to me.

Just a reason why I love this Forum and all my various points:

DD21 left for a spring break yesterday to Panama City, FL. Her last college spring break. 7 Girls total going. Well, her and one of her friends came home on Friday, as this gal was flying to New York first on Saturday (via Detroit) for her nieces recital, then meeting the rest of the girls in Florida on Sunday.

Her flight was scheduled for 6:00 am on Saturday, and she gets a notice on Friday night that the flight from MSP to Detroit was cancelled due to weather there. Tried to find other options to get her to New York, but none that worked in the time frame needed. She was so calm but was very stressed.

I went to Southwest and there were still seats available on the same flight as the rest of the girls. So, I was able to book here a ticket with the girls with my SW Points. Even though it was like 43,000 points for the one way ticket. I had to get her taken care of. She was so grateful, she was crying. Just glad I have the various points and able to do this.

They all got to their Air BNB house right on the ocean last night, and all is good!!

I love this hobby!!

So my JB Biz acct closed yesterday. When the account closed on 2/5 my barclay portal reported my JB miles as 82k. But my JB account still showed 2k. JB told me I wouldn't get the miles till my March account closed. GRRR. Today it now shows my JB miles as 2k in the barclay portal. My JB account shows 2k too. When I look at the statement it says 80k sent to JB. I'm freaking out. I added everything up, and I spent more than the $2k. Is this just a hiccup until the JB miles post from barclay to JB? Should I call barclay? I need to book these return flights!!!

It was BADDDD here on Friday. DTW was closed from about 6pm to 11pm. My BF was one of the last flights to get in. He landed about 5pm. My cousin's kid was trying to get back home to AZ for Spring Break and got cancelled on Friday. Glad you were able to save the day!

Maybe try again? My support link wasn't working this morning, nor was the refer a friend page, or the main Chase page. but my link is working again now.
Doc is reporting the higher CIC/CIU SUB is ending 3/21/2023.

Is he usually pretty solid with his rumor dates? That would give me another couple weeks to work on the current spend before I start the clock ticking on another.

I'm annoyed at IHG. I was one of the ones who got the diamond elite status last year and just needed 10 nights to remain diamond for 2023. I had 9 already and then we spent a night at a Kimpton on New Year's eve specifically for that purpose. But apparently it credited in 2023, NOT 2022 even though that is the night we spent there. I know I shouldn't be upset because normally you have to stay like a billion nights to achieve diamond, but we would NOT have spent the money, etc. to stay on NYE had I known that! I am bumped down to Platinum which isn't bad, but Diamond got free breakfast which was at least $60 worth at Kimpton.

All that to say, we need 2 nights pre-cruise and 1 night post-cruise in Seattle in May. Typically I would stay with IHG but now I am open if anyone has a good suggestions, neither of us has been to Seattle before.

Yes, and remember that you can apply before the deadline, even if you know you will be rejected for 1/30 (or otherwise), and recon in April within the 30 day limit if need be.

All this talk over the weekend about the INKs and I have major FOMO. I was trying to wait until DH's new Ink came in the mail to refer me, but decided to use the one in his account right now and then wait to close. I am not seeing any links on my account or his. I can't get it to generate through the refer a friend website either. Anyone else have any luck?

I think IHG credited the night correctly. The stay was completed in 2023 so that is the year you got credited in. The T&C of IHG is somewhat vague, but it does specify under stay adjustments that if a customer completes a stay in a calendar year, any adjustments would backdate.

Hyatt is the same way in that they go by the checkout date.

In Seattle, we've stayed at the Hyatt Regency. Had a high floor with a nice view. It's a Category 4 and 12/15/18k points depending on the date. Have also stayed at the Thompson Seattle, which is super close to Pike Place. Only a street view there (as Globalist). That one is a Category 5 and 17/20/23k points. If you have plat hotel credits to use, it's part of Hotel Collection (2 night minimum). There are some other hotels in Seattle that are part of FHR and Hotel Collection that can be reasonably priced.

The Grand Hyatt and the Olive are supposed to be nice too. But they're Category 5 and in the same area as the Hyatt Regency, so I didn't think it was worth paying more.
