According to my account I have a little over 1,700 books on my Kindle. Instead of having to bring like 5 or 6 books so that I could continue to read when I finished one or like you said you bring one and it's not good now I've got this device that holds so much and if I want to bounce around from book to book I can very easily do that.
If I had 1700 books, id spent all days looking over the list. Oh yeah, that's a good one. Why did I save that one , etc

I read a lot of cozy mysteries or Amish type books. There is one series I enjoyed, but for the life of me..... can't remember title, series , or author.

TY all for the kindle input!! :coffee: closest appropriate smiley i could find beyond just a stack of books emoji?
Dedicated, converted Kindle reader here. I used to be a "real book only" reader until I started needing glasses. I like to read at night before I go to sleep. Before I needed glasses I could use a little book light, but as I needed brighter light that didn't do the trick anymore. The backlight from the Kindle is great and doesn't keep me up like say the light from your phone. What's more, 99% of the time I read library books and there are no late fees on Kindle library books, plus you can get them from the comfort of your nearest WiFi connection.

Been to Cracker-Barrel once, great for brunch! Love it!
DW was OBSESSED with going to Cracker Barrel but the nearest one from our house is about an hour drive away. We finally went on the way back from a trip and, sorry to say, IT WAS TERRIBLE! It was a long wait, the service was bad and the food was practically inedible.

Obviously from the posts here, YMMV...

On living with the land today my daughter and I had a conversation that combined a two of our topics on here. I said if I was ever on survivor and was allowed to bring one thing with me it would be a book detailing all the plants I could or couldn’t eat so I could better survive. My daughter then chimed in with id bring a kindle not just a single book so I’d have the plant book on there but tons more so I wouldn’t be bored on the island either and the batteries last for a long time so it should last while I’m on the show. 🤣

Um....my Gideon's queue was called early and only ordered a cold brew. It's SO hot out here and not in the mood for a cookie. The Pumpkin Chai cold brew is SOO good! :D
That’s all I’d be able to get there anyway since they don’t have allergy accommodations for their cookies. Sprinkles used to have the crazy lines and now they are usually empty when I go there to get my favorite GF ice cream cookie sandwich. Before finding out I had celiac we would always get the giant ice cream cookie sandwiches at the Main Street bakery so this is the closest I get to that without making it myself at home.

Nah, you just search your library for the topic you feel like reading. Do I feel like a biography? Boom! Just a list of biographies. I tend to delete books immediately after the first read if it’s not a keeper, so I know I will like everything available. With so many, there’s always an option I haven’t read recently too.

Of course, some niche books aren’t available for e-readers yet, including one of my favorite authors.

But it's not a good decision to spend $6 on a cookie if she isn't in the mood for it, right? I'm just keeping it within topic...Budget....Budget....LOL!!! 🤭 🤣🤣
The key is to budget for it ahead of time, and get it to go for a snack later. I can’t tell you how many times I have regretted not buying a particular snack earlier in the day when I am in my hotel room late at night and need a bite of something sweet. A Gideon’s cookie is a great value for me, as I split it into three servings.

Did I mention I have everything extensively organized on a ton of Goodreads lists I created? Between the 300+ physical books I have (although admittedly have read since I got my Kindle) and the e-books and then the books the library systems have I gotta keep it all straight!

And then I have my book on the kindle itself in categories as well. Broad ones then more specific ones like Kindle Unlimited, Vacation, Read-Owned, etc

And then I have Amazon lists---Kindle and Kindle Unlimited AND I even created a newer one a few months back "Not Yet Released" because I kept getting tired of losing track of books that were on their way to be released but hadn't yet.

These methods are the only way I can keep it all organized and overkill I'm sure but I still do find myself saying what you did like why did I keep this one? The author abandoned the series with no resolution? well then delete it will be

I do in fact though spend a lot of time looking over the lists...way too much time :o

Its Gideon's, so I don't even know what you are saying ... and ...
:offtopic: first warning!
This is probably the only thread that "off topic" inside joke will work. Place anywhere else and people will be like "uhh that's what threads do" or "this is the DIS" or any number of other things BUT here on this thread it's a humorous reminder of what got us to this point :p

I adore this conversation that occurred especially while on Living with the Land---both off and on topic for the attraction. Your daughter is speaking my language, I feel lost without the ability to read, some days I only get in 20 or so minutes and others it's a few hours throughout the day.

About the only thing I have found hit or miss seems to be the biscuits some days they are made just right and other days hard or other days flat but more often than not good. I will concede that in the past the consistency was never a problem always the same delicious biscuits so not sure what happened.

I do need to go through the books on the kindle I've shelved under read-owned for ones I didn't like at all or were just so-so and not worth keeping. It should free up some space although probably not much

A quick kindle tip is if you have a book that’s going to expire from a library loan but you haven’t finished reading it, turn your kindle on airplane mode and it won’t know it needs to be returned until you turn the internet back on.
I only read one book at a time and I know the same hold true as long as you don't go back to your library on the Kindle (i.e. you can keep reading the same book indefinitely).
