Maleficent/Murphy caught on fire during the 10:30pm 4/22 Fantasmic performance

Apparently not the first time there's been a fire issue. Here's a video from 2019 that shows an accident in 2018 at WDW/MK

Disney Malfunction Dragon Returns - Maleficent Disney World Parade

The DL website has "Fantasmic!" back on the schedule as of Friday, but who knows whether that will actually happen. At this time of the year (we're post-Spring Break now), the show only runs a few nights a week anyway, right? Would it have been tonight and then not again until Friday?

Yes. Until the Friday before Memorial Day, F! runs only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

I think after they remove the burned out husk, they'll just clean up the area and put up the water projection version of the dragon. We got that the last time we were there. It's not as fun but it's still a good show. No telling how much a replacement might cost and how long performances would be down to replace it.

That's what I was thinking. Don't they have a version without the dragon?

It was also the dragon that caught fire in the parade at Magic Kingdom a couple years ago. I think they need to replace the fire with some “magic” flame.
Eh, they've been running Fantasmic for decades. They can figure out what happened in this extremely rare event. No need to get rid of the real fire.

Imagine my surprise this morning after watching the first show of Fantasmic! and staying for fireworks then back to CCI, only to see on TMZ about the fire. Whaaaaaa?
glad I didn’t have to see it, would have cried my eyes out.

This has been a wonderful trip so far, enjoyed Plaza Inn chicken for lunch, hadn’t had that in years. Resting up now to head to CA for the evening. Mydogs are barking…howling is more like it 🤣😂

It did, but the dragon is back and up until today was breathing fire. Picture below is from 4/15 IMG_1203.jpeg

Yes, there are times when the dragon mechanism may not be working or operating correctly and they use the giant water wall to project the dragon and use the normal fire effects over the river. When we were there last June, they used this instead of the normal mechanical dragon. It's like B Mode for Rise where you don't get the Kylo animatronic.

Me and my mom heard about this story and to me I think Fantasmic had faulty machinery that could've been the cause of the fire and the crew should've checked for faulty machinery way before the show began and Disneyland should've offered a nice apology gift of free Lightning Lane passes for rides for the next day or ShopDisney gift cards for guests. I have never figured out why Disneyland has shows that sometimes involve fire and I think Disneyland should retire the fireworks shows too. Because I always view fireworks as a safety issue and I have never figured out why Disneyland even has fireworks shows in the first place. Doesn't Disneyland understand that fireworks can cause fires and maybe cause the park to burn down? I never have liked fireworks shows because of this safety issue and they need to have improved safety rules when doing shows like this. But I hope Disneyland and the city of Anaheim plans a thorough investigation into what really caused the fire in Fantasmic. I also think after what happened Disneyland will retire Fantasmic for good and replace it with another great show

I booked Fantasmic for May 19, you think I should cancel?
It's been awhile since the last time we saw it, and we liked very much.
