I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

lol side note on this, what do you think of Invisalign? I'm getting it soon, either that or something like Smile Direct/Byte where you do it at home instead of at the ortho. I can't decide which, but leaning towards Invisalign, so it's supervised and done correctly. Any input appreciated! I'll also get a new card to pay for it (probably CIU), but I doubt my travel hacking will be 1/4 as good as yours lol.
As a Dental Hygienist I would strongly encourage you to have any orthodontic work done under the supervision of an orthodontist. I’m not going to bore the credit card thread with tooth talk, but there’s considerably more to moving teeth around than just slapping in some trays every day. You’re going to get a much better and controlled result working with an orthodontist. This would be a prime example of you get what you pay for. 😊

did you just email the airport so you have it at customs? I keep forgetting to do this. It sounds like my allergy medicine might be banned but I rather ask I guess I'm going to sneeze the entire trip. Wouldnt this be the best coarse?
This list has a bunch of chemical names makes me want to reach out to my buddy whos a scientist or maybe a doctor friend.
Just look for the generic name for any meds you use.
I have some orphaned citi thankyou points. I have no idea what to do with them. I have no desire to pay another annual fee so I'm thinking of cashing them out... unless it makes sense to park them with a partner airline without any concrete plans for travel yet. Any ideas?
Gift cards? Otherwise I'd transfer.

I don't think gift cards make any sense since I can just cash them out at $.01 at point. The only way I'd get better redemption value is if I transferred to an airline partner... but I don't have any concrete travel plans yet. I could start planning for Japan in 2 years... but I'm not sure about that yet. 🤔

DH just got approved for a CIP. $15k is a ton of spend in 3 months...anyone know if I can put a new car down payment on a credit card?

Hiya Dis-ies!!!

Big excitement, my $300 Chase bonus (second half-- $200 savings plus $100 "extra") has posted. So now I just have to wait past the 180 days before I can close the account, correct?

Meanwhile, in order to avoid fees while I am waiting, I need to keep $5k min daily balance between the two accounts... so I am looking for where to transfer the other $10k for either better interest, another SUB, or both.

It seems like a lot of the current SUB offers are basing things off of "legit DD," rather than just transferring them my existing savings.

Any exciting deals out there I am missing? (Gotta admit... the Chase $600, WF $325, and TD Bank $200 has me a bit spoiled...)

Anyone have any tips or tricks for booking activities on the Chase travel portal? Trying to do San Diego zoo tickets using CSR points for the 50% bonus. When I add to cart, it just says it failed and to try again. I tried calling but the phone agent had the same problem and told me that the activity may be sold out.

Except, it's not a specific tour, it's just zoo and safari tickets. There's no way they are sold out for some random August day. Other than checking back every few days to see if the error resolves, I'm not sure what else to do.
I have also had some weird issues with the Chase portal. I would try different browsers and also the app (not sure if that's an option for UR spending). If it's very important to you, you could ask them to inquire with a supervisor (YMMV). It does seem like a glitch.

Just reiterating what everyone else said, on it being totally dealer dependent. Truck we bought this past December, the dealer allowed $3K on cc. When I bought my SUV in 2017 from a different dealership, they didn't allow one penny to be put on a card, that was a bummer!

Thanks for the input! That's the way I've been leaning as well, I just feel like having the supervision of an ortho would be better, esp since I have had general dentistry issues in the past. The cost and time difference (being able to do it at my convenience, rather than having to make an appointment every 2-3 weeks) was the main reason I considered other options. I've had a lot of friends, who are parents, tell me to just do the online routes, like Smile Direct Club for example, because that's what their kids use and its worked so well for them. But I also think for kids it may be a less-complicated thing. I'm not considered "young", and I'd hate to run into any issues caused by cheaping out on the back end, only to find out it would cost just as much or more to correct those issues in the long term. I guess the silver lining is, for what Invisalign is gonna cost, I can very well meet a $6K spend in no time, LOL.

Good news? Delta found DD's luggage. I have a ton of receipts. She's had to buy clothes, contacts, skincare, haircare (she's a curly girl. That stuff is not cheap), medications. I hope Delta reimburses her. She sent me pictures of the receipts and wants me to upload since she doesn't have a computer.

I’m going to recommend going to an orthodontist. I was repeatedly told it wouldn’t work for me and went to the orthodontist expecting braces … again. I’m at that age where your body betrays you and things start to shift. My bite is deep with a severe overbite. Things have changed dramatically since November. I’ve had several friends say it didn’t work for them but they did at home or dentist. I’m stunned at my improvement. My orthodontist said short of jaw surgery nothing would get me to a perfect bite but she could get 50% improvement and she has already! Side note, if I was a better travel hacker, I would have booked a stopover for a future trip. Epic fail on my end. But you learn from your mistakes.

Maybe an airline that uses your airport as a hub? Gives you more options later for domestic flights, at least

I would check with a pharmacist or a physician. The Japanese list has some obvious and not so obvious things on their list (I'm not so sure how fluid it is- I don't keep up with its regulations since it's a twice and done for me place lol). Definitely better to be safe than sorry if you're really wanting to go!

I'm with you on this. I have been slow to make plans for next year. DS is starting HS and who knows how that will go, plus I'm starting a new job next month and have no idea how time off will work. But the cap on it is what you mentioned. My mom is 80 with health issues, FIL is 83. In addition we have 2 dogs who need watching. We adopted an almost 8 yr old rescue last year, who had been abused in the past (owner's boyfriend locked him in crate and poked and teased him.) We have boarded him at a local animal hospital and he did fine at first. Then spring break this year, he was there for 8 days and lost nearly 10 lbs. They didn't say anything so I don't know if he refused to eat or they didn't feed him, but not taking him back. Last weekend we went to NOLA for 5 days and 4 days in, the new vet we boarded at calls to say he nipped a tech. He didn't bite hard but did break skin when she reached into his cage to get an empty food bowl. I have a feeling that it was a combo of stress and the above abuse when she tried to quickly reach in he found it threatening. He has never bitten before but obviously leaving him there is not ideal. DS has a soccer tournament in a couple weeks, so DH will stay home with the dogs while I take DS.

I have a spreadsheet on iPad but a paper calendar with each credit card listed on the day it is due, along with pay days. It's easier for me visually than a spread sheet, especially as I pay all the bills including DHs cc's. Following due dates for 15-20 cards is too hard for me otherwise.

I am so jealous of that number of URs! I tend to spend as I accumulate and I absolutely do PYB. To me, free is free.
It's so hard being the middle of the child/elderly parent sandwich. I remember being so excited when DH retired and we were like whoo hoo, now we can travel and then DF got sick so yeah, there's just never really a perfect time between kids and parents it seems (*unless you're independently wealthy lol).

You have my admiration and appreciation for taking on a rescue--and an abused one at that-you're a dog hero🦸‍♀️!

Assuming you have both the checking and savings. You only need to keep $1500 in checking and $300 in savings to keep it fee free. I’m keeping as little as possible in mine for better interest earning elsewhere.

Bingo!!
