I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

Forgot about Daily Getaways and got to the IHG points a bit too late. Only the $25 for 5000 points were left. After doing 4 x $25, it denied me a 5th saying 4 was the max. So I got 20K points for $100. That's the best price anywhere that I've seen.

Wanted the full 25000 to add to existing points for a redemption, but I'll just do points and cash to get the few remaining points I'll need. I'll end up paying $30 for 5K points to finish off but nbd.

I need to get the business card to buck up my total and to be ready for whatever else comes down the road.
Good news. IHG sells points at .005 cpp (100% bonus) every month or two. So the next sale should be around soon, as the last one (only 80%) just ended.

Pray tell - how does one go about asking to join the Dischurners Reddit thread? I joined Reddit but my middle age is showing - what do I do next?
over at https://www.reddit.com/r/DISchurners/. You can message the mods over there with your DISBOARDS username, and they'll get you joined to the group. But read below first

When did /r/churning go private? I used to read there but I guess I never officially joined. Does anyone know how to get access?
r/churning and r/rewardstravel have gone dark today 6/12 through at least 6/14 in protest over some decisions reddit has made to charge third party apps. I'm probably phrasing that incorrectly, but the takeaway is that r/churning won't be accessible for at least a few days. Many people mentioned heading to flytertalk or ******* (whatever that is, lol).

That's accurate. I didn't even know there was 3rd party apps you can use for reddit until last week when this all popped up. Apparently reddit wants to charge too much for the 3rd party apps.

A few of the channels I follow have gone dark, not sure they are doing it all 3 days or not.even

Not sure what got starred out, if it was a bad worked or a banned site. Only options I saw were flyertalk, Doc comments and ******* which I don't think is an alternative to a message board.

Eta huh that was not what I expected to be banned but I'm also not surprised.

It didn’t. Lots of Reddit is dark for the next couple days and this is how they’re doing it.

After logging in when you go to r/DISchurners there should be an option to send a message to request to join- but the problem right now is the going dark protest situation. So many subreddits are going private as a part of this protest it’s rather broken Reddit. My advice if things aren’t working like they should is to give it a couple days and try again.

Starting to get a little worried about booking for Japan through AA. We keep having to move our dates back because flights are getting filled before getting to AA. We’ve been watching multiple dates and they seem to get filled right before being released to AA. I have no idea why because they’ve been available on BA for almost a month

nice good luck waiting on my DD passport renewal so I can get her global entry as well, I wonder what they are going to ask her hope its a unicorn pop quiz (shes 6).
For my DS they asked his name and DOB. Also asked who his parents were. I’m guessing because he’s obviously adopted. They asked about upcoming trips and we were going on on AK cruise and turns out the agent was from AK so we had a nice chat about it.
Dang, I was hoping it wouldn't be that bad. I need to contact them. thanks!
Will she need something besides the airport, like cruise ship dock if you’re doing something like that? In that case I would consider buying/renting a transport chair (kind of a basic wheelchair) and taking it with. If she has her own chair, she should be able to gate check it then have it immediately when landing like with strollers. Plus having it available other places if needed.

Thanks! We are going on a cruise and she has a scooter rented from Scoot-Along (I think it's called) and we will be picking it up at the port. She can walk, just not distances at all. If the gate is close, she can do ok, but since there's no way of knowing what gate you'll be at, we're just trying to plan ahead.

I arranged stuff for my mom and it was a dismal failure. At check in, the agent got her a wheelchair . No one met us on landing, we had to 'steal' a wheelchair in the airport and the scooter (delivered to our Disney resort) we rented was a disaster (mom was not good at driving it, lost the key, the battery died, etc)
Good luck.

There is a Reddit blackout going on right now. I don't know the details but something about changing how much reddit is charging developers now, it skyrocketed and there for several big subreddits including /r/churning /r/awardtravel went private to everyone to show their support for developers. The blackout is supposed to end 6/15 but if Reddit doesn't change it may last longer.

I've been worrying about this so am planning on booking through BA instead. Sad as the taxes are higher, I think

We’ve looked at LAX, SEA, YVR, SAN, DFW, ORD, SFO to Tokyo. SFO is the only one that’s steadily had 8 seats available and we didn’t feel worried but all of a sudden they’re getting booked right when we’re almost able to book with AA. The rest have no seats available except ORD which has a few dates with 4 seats but I’d rather not fly in and out of there if we can help it.

We have enough to book a return with BA but Dh was looking to see if we could quickly get enough BA points to book both ways. I don’t think we’ll be able to though since the dates we want are already being booked

Thanks for the warning. We've never dealt with wheelchairs at the airport, but her walking has declined since she flew last year and she's worried about it.

We have used a scooter on a cruise before and honestly, if my son hadn't been there, it would have been a problem. We had a lot of trouble driving it into her room, but he could just whip it right in there. They are such a pain though as far as finding a place to park when eating, going to shows, etc. But, it did help her to be able to do more things on the ship I think. She also took it off the ship at a couple of the ports. Again, kind of a pain getting on and off the ship, but overall worth it I guess.

Darn. We're not going until Nov 2024 so have time to strategize. We want biz class seats so will need to grab them early, as soon as they appear on BA because those don't seem to last long

My mom was just terrible at navigating plus parking etc not worth it for my mom. She wouldn’t do anything by herself so one of us would be with to push so the transport chair works well as it folds up, easily stored. For someone more independent the scooter is worth the trouble.

We’ve been looking at biz class also. There has been lots of availability out of SFO but all of the sudden they’re being filled right before switching to AA. They just started a deal on BA recently where you can buy points or something. I’m not sure. Dh was looking at it so maybe that’s why more seats are being taken

Are you looking back a few days to recheck if those seats became available again? I have no idea what is happening but maybe some seats get put on hold?? On AA you can hold for 24 hours.

We did see that happen a couple times on BA where they would be gone but come back briefly. We assumed someone put them on hold. Once they’re on AA they’re gone instantly and don’t seem to come back

Has anyone ever booked an excursion through tripadvisor?

One we are looking at is available through Viator and tripadvisor for the same price. Trip advisor is on rakuten though, so thinking of going with them.
