How would everyone feel about adding their listing id/number when posting their data?

I can imagine a website like mine stirs up questions as to the legitimacy of the data. I have seen people questioning it already and honestly it is vulnerable to falsification. There are other methods of verification, and amounts could still be falsified, but adding a listing number is probably the simplest way to still protect everyone's privacy as well as add some level of legitimacy.

I get where you are coming from. idk why people would post a false string but you never know.

I personally love coming here to see what has passed at what price per point and the number of points. I based the offer I made on an AKV 160 pt contract by what has passed here in the last 2 months. The broker said the seller didn't even counter. I offered $95pp-which I thought was reasonable.

I made an offer of $95 pp on my BRV@WL (100 pts) and it was accepted in an hour or so. I was shocked it passed ROFR in 13 days :)

IMO, I don't think that is necessary as the purpose of the thread is for general knowledge and not to prove the accuracy of the data...if someone thinks the data is not real, then they can ignore it.

More importantly, the listing numbers from brokers who are in our board's filter would need to be removed, which means someone would have to review that regularly to ensure that the data being shared is from those businesses allowed to be discussed.

So, sharing listing numbers, would very likely lead to warnings for posters by posting content from sites not allowed. . Let's not add to that please!

Congrats on your deals!

I think the likelihood of false strings in the past is very low. I can, however, imagine a scenario where someone points a broker to this thread or my site for backup after they're told an offer is unreasonable. From that point, I don't think it's a stretch to imagine someone might post false data just to show how easy it is.

Just a listing number without any other information identifying a broker would need to be removed? It's not advertising, the only way to link it back to a specific broker would be to search through all the recent listings from all brokers. Something only someone who has compiled that data would be able to do.

To post content from any business, including a specific listing number, one needs to include the link to that business so listing numbers would not be allowed, per the board rules, without the broker's website.

Each business does indeed have a different way in which they are labeling the contracts so in order so there would be no way to share useful data without including characteristics of the listing.

So, any listing number does need the link to the broker, and something that would take way too much moderating to ensure board rules are followed.

If the purpose is to prove that the information is valid, it doesn't as anyone can make up listing numbers as well, especially if you are going to remove the parts of them that can identify the broker.

Mods have discussed and we all feel it is data that does not need to be added to the information posted here.

Thanks for the opinion of the moderators. The whole idea is that if someone made up a listing number they would be caught and questioned. Additionally, the details of the listing could be reviewed to ensure they match up with the data submitted. Finally, no two data strings could be associated with the same listing. There are solutions to the problems you've mentioned, but I understand the moderators don't want to change the status quo or add to the workload. I won't push the issue as I only intended to gather opinions.

Just to clarify, board rules require the posting of links to brokers/businesses if sharing data from their sites and the owners have decided what business can and can’t not be discussed for their own reasons. As moderators, we simply review and make sure those rules are followed.

The point of this thread has always been for fun and geared toward new DVC owners to share their excitement of buying into the club, nothing more.

However, if someone wants to begin a new thread that tracks the actual sales data and posts that…like one poster is doing for VDH… they are more than welcome to do that!

Ah, the dangers of financing...
Very true! As much as I love Riviera and enjoy my stays there, resale restrictions have notably devalued it vs. non-restricted DVC resorts on the resale market. And it doesn't help with the market being soft right now with really good direct incentives at VGF and Riv. If somebody financed their Riv purchase, and now are in a pinch and need to sell, they may be underwater.
