ºoºShare a drink! Places to find Adult beverages at DLR! * Come check it out!*ºoº

ok kylie. you might want to re-check on the happy hour info for Tortilla jo's .. tdash just went maybe she remembers the timing...but my prev notes are from an old post i had.. so it might of changed!!

Thanks Sare for all the great info!
I will be partaking next month. I'm taking notes!

...and that is why I have put this thread out --for info on adult beverages and where to find them and whats in them! :goodvibes :grouphug:

It's much appreciated! Just adults traveling, no kiddo's! So, we can enjoy the evening's...

ok well then you came to the right place! if you go to DCA, make sure you check out the alfresco lounge above the wine bar! ;) it's a nice place to be at sunset! oh yeah it opens at 4pm!!! RFLOL forgot to mention that!

I think funball is right about the price, which is why the port & chocolate tasting for $12 was such a good deal...ask about Magicale and they'll pour you a sample :thumbsup2. I bought a bottle of it for my mom at Golden Vine in DCA, and it's really funny the way you get it back to your hotel! You're not allowed to walk through the park with it so they have an employee carry it for you to the exit gate. We were staying at the Grand and it was funny to walk all the way to the back exit into the hotel with the wine person carrying our bottle of Magicale. As I recall, it was $48 for the bottle.

The guy who hosted our port & chocolate tasting told us you can get almost the same wine at World Market. He gave us the name but I can't remember it now; disneylvr2 has it. I think it's about $26.

I googled wine and cheese tasting at DCA...so was this at the Golden Vine Winery? I have never been in there. Can you (or anyone) tell me anything about it? Are kids allowed? Is it open year round?

I sound like a lush! :rotfl:

Thanks in advance!

I'm just jumping on the Tortilla Joe's bandwagon! I LOVE their margaritas! I consider myself pretty picky when it comes to margies (I make darn good margaritas at home), and considering TJs is a restaurant in DTD, they make a good one! Even their house margarita packs a punch (I usually get Cazadores). :thumbsup2

Best margarita in all of the DLR IMHO.:goodvibes

Seconded.

On another note, I will never purchase another Rita at Baja Rita's...ugh.

Maybe an early present for my b-day to myself! they(dca) had a TON of tasting during the food an wine festival. Ur not a lush, its bad enough I can tell you point blank the tastings! and you never been to the winery??? *gasping with horror* ohh you need to go..

Thanks...this is something I may break away from my husband and kid for a while and enjoy by myself while we are there. Hubby doesn't enjoy wine so this sounds like a lovely respite for just myself. Appreciate the info.

I hate my first post on this thread to be negative, especially since a cocktail mixed + Disney = perfection in my book, but I had to give a quick Cove Bar review.

Now, I have been enjoying the Cove Bar for a few years now. I always found it quiet, the bartenders nice, and they had a good selection of beers and wines. Also, I remember a time long ago when you go free popcorn there (even though you had to pay at the beer truck - this obviously didn't last too long). I think the days of the Cove Bar being a great relaxing spot for an adult beverage have passed. :sad2:

I went yesterday afternoon after meeting up with my sister and bro-in-law after work. We arrived to the CB around 4:30pm. More than half the tables were dirty, as well the chairs. Dirty napkins were also all over the floor. This was very UN-Disney. It was...gross...for lack of a better word. We managed to find a semi-clean and acceptable table and sat down. After waiting for about 5-10 minutes our server came up and I asked what beers they had on draft. She said they no longer had beers on tap and just had bottles. :scared1: However, they were out of Newcastle, Blue Moon, etc etc etc. Basically, they had Bud Light. No bueno for me. We then asked for a minute to try and decide what to drink. The sun was starting to come down and directly hit us so we asked to move the table awning for shade. They couldn't do this...So, dirty environment, no drink selection, slow service, and the sun blinding us. This, my Dis friends, did not = perfection...

We ended up just leaving at that point and goint to beer truck for some Tower 10 IPA on draft. It was good as always! :thumbsup2 I guess the other advantage of the beer truck is the variety of food options in that area. I was able to get a salad for dinner (to feel less guilty about my beer drinkin', hehe).

Bummer, sorry you had such a negative experience. :( We love the CB but haven't been since Jan. That said, I would have simply asked for a rag to wipe the table myself. lol I'm like that tho, especially at a bar. And I wouldn't go to CB for beer, I'd go to the beer truck for that, better beer at the beer truck IMO and I prefer a cocktail anyway. I'm trying to remember what we had at the CB but can't remember the names, we love to go there and get a drink for DBF and I and some lobster nachos, the girls will either sit with us or hang on the pier and ride some rides. Hopefully things will be different when we go back to our CB. :)

You're thinking of Rosa Regale :thumbsup2

Rosa Regale is available at WDW, there was a discussion on that on the Budget Boards. Are you saying I can go to World Market and get it there too?? Because if so I'm leaving now. LOL

I wish I could meet you for your bday Sara, we would have a blast drinking wine, champagne and eating cheese. :)

ur funny pwings!

That stuff is supposed to be really good, of course that's what I heard about the Magicale too. :) I looked a few places and didn't find the Rosa Regale but I still want some! LOL

Ok so here are the 2 drinks I've had at the Cove Bar, both were very delish!!
Malibu-mer Sunset - Light rum, peach schnapps, creme de cassis, creme de banana and a splash of orange and pineapple juice. $6.49
Shark Attack - Dark rum, orange juice, pineapple juice and a splash of grenadine. 7.25
This is what DBF had
Californian Calypso - Light rum, creme de banana, and pina colada mix. $6.49
and while there we share this....
Lobster Nachos - Tender lobster pieces atop corn tortilla chips, smothered in black beans, tomato, roasted Pablano peppers, cilantro and jack and cheddar cheeses. $10.99
and the girls get water or a soda to drink. DD10 likes Shirley Temples, she gets one of those, DD14 just gets a glass of water usually but sometimes she gets a soda.
Sorry I don't have photos of these, oh and the prices may be wrong, I just copied them from the allears site and that menu listing is from 2009.

Good Questions about kids this comes up every now and then. In DCA kids are allowed to sit at tables but not at the bar itself, when it has seating at the bar.

I agree with you on the Cove Bar, sadly. It seems to have really gone downhill :( And I flat out refuse to pay a cover charge :sad2:

Tortilla jo’s happy hour info:

Join us for Happy Hour, Monday to Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Ole! Cool off with refreshing house margaritas — just $5!**
Enjoy delicious, specially priced appetizers that hit the spot, not your wallet.

These are the times I remember - it's not your traditional "happy hour" hours. They have the $5 happy hour margaritas every day, but they also have another drink special during happy hour, the drink rotates. Mondays has a certain drink, Tuesdays another, etc. I wish I had taken a photo! They have it out on board outside the restaurant. When we went there on a Friday, the other $5 drink was Dos Equis beer.

Yes. They are SO good. And very potent. Important when one is drinking a margarita, I think :)

On another note, I will never purchase another Rita at Baja Rita's...ugh.
I had one of those this past trip because I never tried it before! It was all right. Pretty tasty, I was expecting "sweet" and was relieved that it wasn't too sickly ... but seriously ... I'm not sure where they hide the tequila :rolleyes1

These are good! At least the last time I tried them, which was summer 2009.

Not sure if you can get it at World Market, but I know some have found it at BevMo and Costco (about $20) and other places in California. It's a fave with some of the ladies :thumbsup2

I personally will be stocking up on my Magicale when I'm there in November. I can bring back two bottles and I'll get my sister to bring two - yay for Magicale!! We're down to our last bottle here now and I don't want to drink it until I can replace it!

Why two a piece? Is it a customs thing?
