What's going on this week? Just got a call from my mom. One of my childhood friends passed away this weekend. He's been battling lukemia for the past year or so. He's leaving behind a wife and 6yr old son.

It's going to be difficult telling DS tonight. He hung out with this family quite a bit since they still live in the same neighborhood as my parents.

Yes, since I'm on a diet the food porn wouldn't be good. Fish for lunch, fish for dinner, dry salads....yum! 36 days til we leave for DLR and the TOAL!

Finally got a travel alarm clock with a face that stays lit all night.....
I really went to town!

Which clock is this? I've been looking for a travel alarm that you don't have to press a button to light up the face.

We will be using our noise maker/sleep sound machine. It has a feature to turn on a nightlight that lights up the clock as well.

Stace, I checked out that website that you posted for the banner and I'm thinking of getting one, but stupid question, what size ?

I think I remember seeing someone's (was it Andy's ?) that was 3'x5'. Is that a good size for a cat 6 verandah ?

They also had a 3'x8', is that too long ?

Hi all, just checking in. Hope everyone is well!

We were away for 4th of July weekend in upstate New York at a lake. Got to take our jet skis out for the first time in 4 years. Friends of ours from college family own a house on Lake Oneida, and we get to go up there quite often. So we all went up, me, DH, DDs and youngest DDs boyfriend, and our puppy Bleu. We all had a ball, the weather was pretty good and we got to play lots on the skis. Now that the kids are older, they go out all day and have a blast...Unfortunately, I live about 1/8 mile from the ocean and we are not allowed to launch our skis on Staten Island anymore, it really stinks.

Can't believe how close we are getting to our TOAL, I can almost taste it....tastes like.....MARGARITAS!!!!!!!!

Well have to go tak Bleu for a walk, will have to do some reading tomorrow morning.

Thanks for the support. It's not so much that I'm worried about DD starving. More that I'm frustrated that she's not doing more to feed herself. It makes for some really stressful meals when I basically feed her and don't get to eat myself. I'm just ready for DD to start "entertaining" herself so I can enjoy a meal with the family for a change.

DS would feed himself finger foods as long as they were dry. He HATED to get messy!!! He would feed himself the first spoonful and then hand it to us to finish feeding him. This went on until he was almost 3 years old. His 2 year preschool teacher couldn't get over the fact that he was able to eat a chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting and not have a speck of it on his face. He would use a napkin in between each bite and use a fork if available. Sometimes I wish that he was a little more like that. He has gotten over getting messy.

I always fed the kids while I was fixing dinner and then gave them finger foods to eat or play with while we ate.

Ever since the captives were rescued in Colombia, I've been waiting for more people to be worried about THAT port. Even that doesn't scare me...I'm REALLY looking forward to Cartegena.

I am trying not to think about that so much, Stace.

Happy birthday/anniversary to all that I have missed!

I feel sooo behind in planning compared to the rest of you! I have a basket in the corner of the room that I have thrown a few things into. I did take a few things out and try them on, and found a sweater I had forgotten about (but needs buttons!). Do you think I can still do princess night without gloves? I think I might wear that sweater and it is long sleeved (open-worked), but will still get a crown. I finished my sister's skirt for pirate night; now I need to start mine! No theme, just plain black. Still haven't figured out what to do for the FE. Hopefully that won't be too hard to sew!
