Something I had forgotten from our trip in December. The bathroom in the lobby was beautiful and even had real washclothes to dry your hands. However, I have never, never been in a public restroom that did not have toilet seat covers?? Ewwwww! I still don't understand it. Why would they have such a nice bathroom, but not have covers? Was there something I'm missing?

LOL..... That is weird. I guess they spent to much on the tile and marble????

You've been very lucky. I've been in PLENTY public rest rooms--in hotels, very fine restaurants,etc.-- that have NO toilet seat covers. Just use the toilet paper as a substitute. I LOVE the lobby bathroom at the HRH.

Maybe they have those anti-germ seats that are now available since the paper covers have been proven to be ineffective anyway.

Ok, this is a weird topic but I'll contribute.

The paper is ineffective if the seat is wet - you have to dry the seat first before you put down any paper (those paper covers never fit correctly and what's up with the piece in the middle that you have to tear out?... plain "paper" works better.

Also, it astounds me that the seats are slightly "wet" about 1/2 the time anyway....women, for goodness sakes, WHAT are you doing in there?????? Ewew!

I am also amazed at how often I find a wet seat. How hard is it to aim when you are a female??? Even when I just squat I don't make that kind of a mess and I always clean up after myself.

My big thing is that I will not touch the door handle when leaving because of all the people who don't wash their hands.

Yuck! :faint:

This reminds me of many years ago when I was in a public restroom with my mother. After washing her hands she brushed her hair and then grabbed her hairspray to give her hair a spray, but after doing so realized that she's grabbed the little can of Lysol spray instead. Did I ever get a good laugh.

Another time we were at Disneyland (I was in high school so this was also many moons ago) and she took a long time in the restroom. When she came out of the restroom she commented to my aunt and me how "time flies when I'm having fun". We laughed so hard and that stupid comment and to this day I at least think that when I'm leaving a restroom after being in it for awhile (and I still tease my now 80yo mom over those things). Talk about making memories!

T&B

I always assume (hope) that if the seat is wet, there was a child in there before me.

I'm grossed out by the toilet flusher handles and and door handles as well. It's amazing how well I can flush with my feet.:p

Sometimes the seat is wet because of a "miss" and sometimes it is wet because the flush mechanism is a little too powerful, so it sprays/sprinkles the seat while flushing (not that I've ever gotten close enough to determine which is which).

All public bathrooms should have what we have here in CT at one of our casinos. Heres a link to what they are like. http://www.cleanseats.net/view/about.html I also use toilet paper for the seat if theres no seat cover, which I agree are a pain to use.
The only time I've seen those "sani seats" was at a public bathroom (in a park) In New York City. I was very impressed.

we have a couple of those here in new orleans....and i cant stand them....its a waste in my opinion......i would much rather fold up some TP and set it on the seat...i dont trust that plastic....not to mention, if someone does tinkle on the plastic, it just rolls off!!! ewww!!:crazy2:
