I'm glad you're enjoying it and finding some things useful!Great updates! I don't have plans to travel to France but I liked reading your tips for seeing the city. A lot of it could apply to other places as well. I would love to visit DLP - familiar but lots of interesting differences!
Eh it happens!I missed some updates- dont know how that happened!
What a great first day at DLP! Love your Remy disneybound!! And of course love all the photos!
Okay, I get that. It's not that there isn't stuff to look at in the US parks, it's just that in DLP there are so many things where the whole point of the attraction is looking at stuff or just exploring. And they're generally really well done, like the labyrinth and Adventure Isle caves.
Whoops! Standing by!You'll find out in the next chapter!
Recessed? You'd think people would be replacing those as quickly as possible... Ah... who am I kidding. Plenty of homes in North America with knob and tube wiring still. And at least in France most of the outlets are circular and recessed into the wall (I don't remember them like this in the UK). Which doesn't work so well with my square adapters. Thankfully we have one big adapter that fit and we just had to plug everything into it. But it did mean I couldn't ever use my curling iron, because it's dual voltage and I didn't want it to fry our big adaptor.
It was! I specifically went out and got a dual voltage curling iron so that I could make my hair presentable for a couple of occasions in particular. But alas, I had to make do with my natural old mop of hair instead.And... no curling iron? (Not joking here) That must have been a bit upsetting for you at times. I'm sure there were times when you'd planned to dress up a bit for a dinner or outing and wanted to do your do.
I agree!
Still bummed I wasn't able to ride this! Next time I guess!Phantom Manor is DLP’s Haunted Mansion-type ride and it’s so amazing. Maybe my second favorite attraction at DLP. It’s in Frontierland so the setting is like a western gold rush town. I knew the setting was different but what I didn’t realize was that the story was so different!
Yeah it is! And during check-out too!Another perk of the Golden Forest room is a separate check in area. It’s not such a big deal when you’re checking in at 9pm and there’s no one else there, but I bet it’s really handy when you’re there at a busy time.
Yeah, I felt the same way! Pretty annoying! But while there was an excess of space, there was an extreme lack of outlets. There were two outlets in this entire room, and they by the bed or in the bathroom (except for one dedicated for shavers). We had to plug our adaptor in around the corner from the bed, which was crazy inconvenient, given the size of the room.
There's always a reason to go back!Still bummed I wasn't able to ride this! Next time I guess!
I don't understand why there aren't more outlets in these rooms. Of all the hotel rooms we stayed at in France this one had the worst outlet situation. Why Disney??Yeah, I felt the same way! Pretty annoying!
The locals were fine. Some were friendlier than others, which is pretty typical of just about any big city. I think if you do your best to follow their manners then that really helps. What a beautiful city Paris is! What did you think of the locals? I always hear such conflicting things about how Parisians act towards Americans.
Exactly!Just stroll around and see what you see.
So amazing, although we never ate at any truly fancy French restaurants. Because we just aren't truly fancy people. All of the food looks delicious!
I know for a lot of wines I've had (mostly cheap wines) there's usually like a little kick from the last drink at the bottom of the glass and it's more bitter than the rest. I never tasted that at all in France.I'm not big into wine, but something tells me I'd like French wine.
No it's really big! It's the biggest castle park. We just didn't do as much since we really only had half a day and hopped between parks. Is it small, or is it just because that was your first half day?
The coolest thing ever. The dragon looks aaamazing.
Yes thankfully our one big travel adapter has I think 4 USB plugs and 4 regular plugs so we had plenty of space to charge things, it was just all on the other side of the room. Why aren't bedside outlets a standard??Whoa, your room at Sequoia was huge! We have always stayed in the regular rooms, and they are itty bitty. And, yes! We learned after our first trip to bring our EU surge protectors with three outlets because there is nowhere to charge stuff. The morning of my race, I was sitting next to the bathroom, reviewing my race info because that was literally the only place I could charge it.
Oh my goodness. Amazing. It was definitely not empty when we were up there but it was still such a beautiful view. When we got to the castle it looked pretty crowded and Jon asked if we should just skip it and I was like absolutely not, good sir. This will be worth it.Isn't that view from the top of Alice's maze in the late afternoon lovely? Such a peaceful little spot (when it's empty).
Why doesn’t every castle have a dragon? When I get my castle, it will have a dragon.

Yep! Maybe it's just the novelty of it, but I think I like this version better than the US one.Oo I didn't realize it had a different story. I can't wait to experience it in person one day.
Sadly, no. I wonder if the humor wouldn't translate in France?Does DL Paris have a Jungle Cruise?
No they were just randomly there! And it's actually just a shelf in the restaurant. A super cool touch. Are they part of anything in the parks or just randomly in the gift shop?
For real, the theming in all the shops was amazing.Good job with gift shops, btw, DL Paris. Those droids on the upper walkways of the Star Tours gift shop were awesome.
Studios closed at 6pm and I think Disneyland closed at 9pm when we were there, so yeah fairly early compared to the US.Do the parks close really early?
Just that statue. They had some random Pixar characters like that scattered throughout. Like Russel & Carl from Up were in Adventureland. Was it just the statue or did they have anything else?
I definitely don't think it was an accident. But yeah, it's so stunning in that light.I honestly wonder if the imagineers used that pink color because it goes great with the sunset.
I don't remember anything weird about it, it seemed to taste pretty similar to McDs here at home. And other than a few different sandwiches like Jon's the menu was really similar, too.How was the McDonald's? Slightly off and weird?
I don't have access to one right now but I can see if I can send you one! It's adorable.Do you have a pic of your ewok bracelet? Must see all the SW.
