Advise needed about tax and tipping!

The way I figure tips at WDW is as follows:

At buffets I take the sales tax and double it and round up. That gives the servers at least 13%

At full service I take the sales tax and triple it and round down. That gives the servers at least 18%.

The sales tax is always listed on the receipt as a separate item, so it is really easy to do this.

However, make sure you look at your itemized bill before you let them run your credit card, cause sometimes they only bring back the credit card statement.

Now obviously, if service is exceptional or poor, I adjust accordingly.

Also, some restaurants fill out an employees W-2 based on their table receipts for the year.

They expect them to average 15% in tips and list that on their W-2 whether they got them or not.

So if a server has an inordinate amount of bad tippers, they could be paying taxes on money they never received.
