April 2024 WISH Thread - Bring on the Sunshine! ☀️

1. Disney character
Cinderella…ever since childhood.

2. Disney resort
Polynesian…loved Contemporary but I stayed there before they made those changes with the Incredibles so that was a one and done. The Beach Club was great because of Stormalong Bay. But Polynesian’s location wins out over Beach Club.

3. Live-action Disney movie
Cinderella

4. Animated Disney movie
Peter Pan…Tinkerbell is my second favorite Disney character.

5. Disney restaurant or snack

California Grill…can’t beat the view of the fireworks. Narcoossee’s is tied with Cali Grill followed by a fireworks cruise.

1. Disney characters - Chip & Dale - I've always loved them, and a couple of trips ago, I bought Chip & Dale tree ornaments 🎄

2. Disney resort - AKL -
We've stayed there for part of our last two trips, and I'm really getting spoiled! I love the relaxed atmosphere and I love seeing the animals!!

3. Live-action Disney movie - The one popping into my head this morning is The Incredible Journey (the original one), but I have fond memories of a lot of the older movies.

4. Animated Disney movie
-
Inside Out - It's such a clever concept, and I'm really looking forward to the sequel!

5. Disney restaurant or snack -
My absolute must have when I'm there is Mickey Waffles! (Which restaurant I get them from doesn't matter.) Also, honorable mention to the classic Mickey Bar - I loved when they brought out the grocery store version, so I could have a little bit of the magic at home. :mickeybar

1. Disney character-tie between Tinkerbelle, Stitch and Moana

2. Disney resort (one you've stayed at or that you dream of stating at, and why)-i haven't spent a lot of time in most of them but so far Contemporary, love the fact that you can watch the fireworks, walk through the building, and then watch the water parade.

3. Live-action Disney movie-the first pirates of the Caribbean.

4. Animated Disney movie-so hard to pick it kind if changes based on my mood. But overall that holds a special place in my heart is Meet The Robinsons.

5. Disney restaurant or snack-restaurant for breakfast topilinos, any other time via Napoli. Favorite snack is good old popcorn, nothing like grabbing a handful and munching between lines.

Counting down the days...less than 150

Character... its a toss up between Tinkerbell and Chip and Dale, all a little naughty and spicy.

Resort... POP is my home-away-from-home but I'd love to do one of the deluxe behind EPCOT some day.

Live action... Cinderella, partly because I really like Lilly James

Animated... Up made me cry, so I'll go with that.

Restaurant/snack... Flying Fish, and I'm a Dole Whip gal.

1. Disney character - Minnie Mouse

2. Disney resort
(one you've stayed at or that you dream of stating at, and why) - I've never stayed at a Disney resort. We just took the kids two times and we stayed in the Bonnet Creek condos by Disney. I would LOVE to stay in AKL sometime, but not sure we'll ever do that. I guess time will tell!

3. Live-action Disney movie - I always loved Pete's Dragon

4. Animated Disney movie -
Inside Out- I'm also excited for the next one coming out!

5. Disney restaurant or snack -
Probably the most fun we had at a Disney restaurant was at Flo's V8 Cafe in Disneyland. We all loved it there!

This is such a great list of happiness triggers. Watching my students being kind to their classmates, especially the students who might not be accepted in another classroom, fills my heart with joy. I love hugs, but I don't hug much anymore because of Covid, so it's only my close family. I miss all the hugs I used to get on a regular basis. Sunlight is heavenly. I love to dance. Music and especially singing moves me...my high soprano voice has dropped to an alto since last year...Covid again. There's nothing like getting out of a hot shower and climbing between clean sheets...aahhhh.

We're getting our taxes done today...Ugh. We always have to pay, and the process is painful finding out how many thousands it will be.

No real self-care except for trying to relax after the appointment, aka, facing the music.

Happy Sunday!!! What an absolutely gorgeous day we are having here!!! DH and I took a 2.5 mile walk after church with the dogs so that was good self care. Him and I are both FINALLY feeling better which is amazing.

We got a foster dog last night! A beautiful mama dog from WV, her and all 6 of her puppies came up and the puppies went to foster so today is her first day without babies and she’s certainly making the most of it! She slept in and has been sunning herself most of the day 😍 she deserves it!

Self care today was changing the bed sheets (ha) and spending time outdoors. DH took DS8 to a party so DS11 DD and I went outside. She played while he and I did some planting. We put some flower seeds in the dirt and veggies in a seed starter tray. DD got into the tray after it was brought inside so we'll see what happens there. I think the eclipse effects kids like a full moon because all 3 have been extreme versions of themselves the last few days.
Did get a cute moment DD brought DS11 inside and asked to "have" something. Turns out what she wanted was the watering can so we set her to work on the flower seeds then DS11 took her around to water whatever she felt like.

Such a good list and good to think about - my self-care for today is similar to most Sundays: church, lunch with my mom and sister's family and dinner with my in-laws. Today was a great-niece's birthday though, so it was special today!

We did watch a baseball game on TV between the two and watched the end of the women's NCAA tournament at the party. Now we're back home and chilling until tomorrow!

I totally agree that this upcoming eclipse is affecting behavior. Thursday and Friday, my students were truly acting like lunatics. Today should be a blast. :sad2:

I'm motivated by the fact that I didn't gain this weekend (bad habit) or even maintain (usual goal), instead I lost 1/2 a pound! I'm so pleased with myself that I didn't blow it. So I begin my week already on the right track.

1. Disney character-I have several but Cinderella has been my favorite since I was little.

2. Disney resort (one you've stayed at or that you dream of stating at, and why)- I really want to stay at the Grand Floridian. Out of the ones that I have stayed (have never stayed at the same one twice) I would say POR or Coronado. Also really like the Swan for an off property (well kind of) just for its location.

3. Live-action Disney movie-Pete's Dragon, Pollyanna, the original Parent Trap. I also really like Beauty and the Beast as we get more of her story. I also like the Maleficent ones. I also really liked Mighty Ducks (all of them). All of the different Cinderella's (my favorite being Roger and Hammerstein's, I know not Disney but close enough)

4. Animated Disney movie-I would have to say the ones that came out when I was upper elementary or middle school. The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. I also like Cinderella.

5. Disney restaurant or snack- I really like Teppen Edo. We have gone every trip except for this last one. DH wanted to try new ones. I also really like Mickey Waffles and searched them out this last trip because we stayed at the Swan. They had them but I decided (without Trying them) that they were not the same.

We had a great weekend of getting a lot done. Yesterday we also celebrated DS's 18th birthday. This spring really needs to slow down. It will not be long before he is off to college.

Today will be a fun day. Kids are off of school because of the eclipse. They just extended their spring break by a day. Dh and I are getting off by noon. I am so excited though DH is not and really doesn't understand why I am. We will have totality for over 3 minutes. It should be really cool. Animals and bugs think it is night time so it will be so cool to hear/see.

My motivation for the week is to just keep on keeping on! Since I've been (mostly) faithful with my tracking, I've been doing good. Even yesterday, when we went to Mexican for lunch and then had a birthday party for dinner, I made good choices and kept in line with my losing.

I have to keep reminding myself that it's pretty simple (not easy, but simple) and I just need to make good choices. I laugh at myself because with money, I'm so disciplined, but not so much with food! I think that's why I do better when I think of it as a budget of calories that I get for the day / week. I just have to trick myself lol!

We are covered with a heavy overcast this morning, and we're about as far away from the path as you can be in the continental US, so I think at most we will go from dim to dimmer.

The Bird cruise Saturday was canceled because of not enough people, so I switched over to the Gray Whale tour. We did find a Gray whale and spent quite a bit of time watching it because it was feeding in one area. We also saw some Steller Sealions and had some Dall/Harbor Porpoise swim along side the boat. On the way back the captain had the boat running parallel to a couple adult male Orcas which was one of the best sightings I've even had.

Saturday evening I saw the movie 'Wicked Little Letters' and it was so good. Love Olivia Coleman, and the other two female leads were also great. I think I may go back and see it again.

Sunday self-care... loved everything on the list. My big self-care was to go soak-and-sweat in the evening and man what a difference it has made, as I feel like I have a new body going in to the week.

I am motivated this Monday by feeling better! I am so happy DH and I are better! I did 2 laps around the block this morning and did a 30 min cardio on my lunch break so I am on track!

The antibiotics kill my appetite so I am really only eating to take my antibiotics so that’s a bonus-no urge to snack!

Our neighbor gave us solar eclipse glasses so we are good to go! We have bright brilliant sun at 2pm so we will see how dark we get!

Hi! I've been lurking on WISH threads for a little while and I'd love to join in now. I'm Kait, I'm 26 from NJ. I've had a complicated and challenging journey with my weight for as long as I can remember, but last year I was referred to a special weight management program facilitated through my primary care health org, which I started last month after spending some time on a waiting list. With the tools and goals they've given me, I'm making progress already, but I still have a long road ahead of me. I have two main goals for April:

1. Meal Prep lunch 3 days a week. Last month I broke the cycle of waking up to go get coffee and a donut/pastry/bagel before work most days, which has been a huge win for me, but I still order takeout for lunch when I'm in the office and I don't make the best choices when I do so. Trying to meal prep the first 3 lunches of my week, this is hard because I have a terrible relationship with cooking and food but I'm doing my best every day to get better. I really want to fall in love with cooking!

2. Walk every day (at least 20 minutes). I started doing this last month and fell off the wagon after 3 weeks because the weather got bad, I got busy, whatever excuse you can think of -- but it's getting nice again and I'm going to jump back into it.

Overall, I'm feeling very motivated to continue taking little steps towards my bigger goals and hoping to keep up my momentum by joining the community here on the WISH board.
