I did a search on cheap eats in anticipation of our trip to Aulani next year and my search came up with a series by the local news called, "Cheap Eats with Guy Hagi and a local comedian, Augi T."
Lots of great information on places to eat. The main places they visit are in honolulu and surrounding neighborhoods. I've requested a North Shore series closer to the Aulani. Keeping fingers crossed.
Check it out! If your visit to Aulani includes traveling to the honolulu area this may be helpful. We have already made a list of places we want to try. Like they say on the food network if you want to find a great place to eat ask the locals!
