Baby Duckling Death

I was at the parks yesterday and witnessed something that I just can't get out of my head. Two baby ducklings got away from their mother in the walkway between the pond and the Tiki room dole whip bar that leads to adventureland. I was able to get one that was dodging between stroller and feet and get it back the side, but one baby duck was trampled to death. It was horrible and awful.
I wish Disney would put some camouflaged netting up around the ponds to keep the babies off the walkways. I have witnessed baby ducks often in the walkways, but this is the first time I saw one die.
I'm sure it was equally awful to the people who trampled it.
Just had to express my frustration and sadness.
Is there anyone at Disney I could contact to express my frustration that they don't do more to protect the wildlife?

That's so awful! When I first saw this post I thought it would be a story about an intentional death by a kid, but even so that is so traumatic and very, very sad. I'm sorry you had to witness that (and for the poor duck). That would probably ruin my day. I'd write DL as a PP suggested. You're right that they need to come up with a better way of protecting them.

Sorry to hear that happened!! :( I'm always worried about all the baby ducklings vs massive crowds (even kids and teens that love to chase or torture full grown ducks).

Yes, as others have said please email Disney, even if not much can be done it's important they get feedback to better protect wildlife. You could even cut and paste the same thing you posted here.

That is really sad. I have seen cast members following the babies around like an escort keeping them safe so I am certain Disney knows and cares. It sounds like this was an unavoidable accident but still very sad. :(

It’s super sad and I’m so sorry you had to see that. And Disneyland is full of feral cats…so while you may not see those deaths, they are happening (I speak from very disturbing experience with my cats and the ducklings in our pond :( ).

Yeah, a cast member at Storybook remarked as we were watching a mother duck with 3 ducklings swim around the canal "how sad...yesterday there were six." We agreed not to think about what happened to them, but my money is on the cats.

I couldn't imagine seeing one get trampled, though. :(

I didn't even think about the cats, but you are right. Poor little babies. I was at the parks again today, so much more aware of the babies. Those mother ducks take them out to cross from one pond to the next, and in all the traffic, the little one's can't keep up and get in danger.
I am so much more aware of it now.
