"Back in the day..."

I tend to go off DDs age compaired to when I was that age, so now we are talking late 70s

my DD tells me that was when dinosaurs roamed the earth. Apparently dinos were around in the early 70's...who knew :confused3

"the day" always refers to when you where high

If you ask my 4 year old son he will tell you "Remember those good ole days when I was 3 and we did ..." He's quite a little crack up.:rotfl:

"Back in the day" about 12 years ago

The future "good ole days" right now

according my my 14yo .. when he saw a portable cd player her was like.. thats what you used to listen to music with back in the day :rotfl2: .. you should of seen his face when I pulled out my walkman.

What we're gonna do right here is go back
Way back, back into time

Yeah, yeah-yeah

Back in the day, they used to say
Play that song, get it going, and the band played
And still today, you hear us say
Play that song all night long, Mr. DJ
Though times have changed,
It's still the same
We all need a minute to get away
So let it go and feel the flow
If you've got soul, let the world know

We're gonna set the mood (set the mood)
Gonna go back to an old school groove (go back to an old school groove)
Gonna rewind to another time
When the originators, innovators were alive, yeah

So break out the Marvin Gaye and Etta James
Your Lady Day, and Coltrane
Turn up your 45's, bring back to life
The sound and vibe of yesterday
Open your mind, enjoy the ride,
Get out tonight and grab that Soul Train

Back in the day (x4)

Yeah
Now "Chain Of Fools" and "Respect"
Was the anthem of a woman, Aretha said
"What's Going On", "Let's Get It On"
Such classic songs, don't forget them
Though times have changed
They still remain my inspiration everyday
So give it up for the ones
Who came before, opened up that door

We're gonna set the mood
(we're gonna) (set the mood)
Gonna go back to an old school groove
(go back) (to an old school groove)
Gonna rewind to another time
(rewind) (another time)
When the originators, innovators were alive

So break out the Marvin Gaye and Etta James
Your Lady Day, and Coltrane
Turn up your 45's, bring back to life
The sound and vibe of yesterday
(the sound and vibe of yesterday)
Open your mind, enjoy the ride,
Get out tonight and grab that Soul Train

back in the day (X4)

So get up, re-live it
Gotta let yourself flow
Give up your praise
Come celebrate
Just get up, get on it
Get yourself on the floor
Don't back away (don't back away)
Come celebrate (gonna celebrate, yeah)

So break out the Marvin Gaye and Etta James
Your Lady Day, and Coltrane
Turn up your 45's, bring back to life
The sound and vibe of yesterday
(the sound and vibe, alright yeah)
Open your mind, enjoy the ride,
Get out tonight and grab that Soul Train

Takin' back in the day, day
Back in the day, back in the day
Back in the day, back in the day
Back in the day, back in the day
Back in the day, back in the day

Oh baby, I'll do it
Oh baby, ohh yeah yeah woah woah yeah

well according to Dane Cook, the day was a Wednesday. Just when that Wednesday occurred, I'm not sure.

usually "back in the day" to me refers to mid 80's, when I had big hair, funny looking clothes and hanging out in the discos. Ah, only to be back in the day and not on-line at 9:49 on a Saturday night :lmao:

Just when was that? :confused3

Yeah, and exactly what era qualifies something as "old-school?" ;)

I'm 50, and one of the guys I work with is 22. I love hearing him refer to "back in the day" and referring to situations/ideas/methods/music as "old school.":rotfl: I adore him, and have learned so much from him!

Any time before your kids were born.

I had a Zapp CD in my player and DS10 decided he liked it. A few weeks later he wanted to hear it and said, "Mom, where's that CD. You know the one from the 1920's." :scared1:

HeeHee!
And when you're out--as I was an hour ago--you can't wait to get home, put on your pj's, pour a diet coke, break out the heating pad and settle in with the lap top.:goodvibes

I am a child of the eighties and I refuse to grow up...

I would still tease my hair if I could get away with it. I still love BIG hair...:scared1:
